Allsorts Challenge 526: Perfect Pairs

Saturday again, another scheduled post from me. It's Brenda theme this week at Allsorts challenge and she wants to see "Perfect Pairs". This means she would like to see a card with matching evelope, or a card with matching gift box or bag, maybe a card with a bookmark, etc. Be sure to check out the challenge blog for some wonderful inspiration!

All stamps are from Hero Arts, the sitting mouse, dandelions, bugs and sentiment were part of the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero December stamp kit, the flying mouse was part of a free set Hero Arts included as a Thank You that month. Unfortunately this stamp kit has sold out and is no longer available. I know dandelion are mostly seen as a weed, but I happen to love them - always have and always will, and this one might have been my favorite kit I received from Hero Arts.

If you would like to become a Hero Arts stamp kit subscriber, you can read more about it here. I've been a subscriber for 8 months, but decided to take a break from subscriptions for now .... but definitely I am still keeping an eye on the kits, as they are such a great value. Cancelling was super easy by the way, all I had to do was send an email and they removed me from auto subscription.
PS: The June Stamp kit is currently available for purchase.

Ok, back to my "perfect pairs". I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Ink on Xpress it Blending card and used Copic markers for coloring. An ancient Stampin Up clouds stencil was used to ink up the sky on both the card and envelope with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide . The sentiment which is also part of the kit has been heat embossed using super fine white embossing powder on black card stock.

Below is a closer look at the envelope. My envelope is A2 sized to fit the A2 sized card. Again, everything was stamped with Memento ink and colored with  Copic markers.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Allsorts Challenge 525: Soft Pastels

Hello and welcome! This is a scheduled post and hopefully blogger will behave as expected. I'm spending some time with family from overseas and will be taking a little break from blogging and cardmaking, so anything from now on and into July will be scheduled.

It's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge, Helene is hosting this week with the theme of  Soft Pastels. A wonderful prize of crafty goodies is up for grabs so hope you can join us!

Just so you know, what appears black in the photo is actually a Distress Oxide gray ink and is much softer in real life. Whenever I upload my photos I use photoscape to crop and edit and it shows up  a little bit darker in the photo.

The Carousel Horse is a wood mounted stamp by Inkadinkado.
The background was done with Distress Oxide Inks - wish I remembered exactly which colors I used, but when I made this card I made several cards at once and didn't keep track of the inks. The pink is for sure Abandanod Coral, stencilled clock was done with Blueprint Sketch and the image and sentiment were stamped with Hickory Smoke ink. The light bluegreen could be Cracked Pistachio but I am not 100% sure. Whimsy Stamps retired background words from the set Basic Background and Borders were stamped with Victorian Velvet ink, I believe. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Happy Wishes. The lacy half circle on the top right corner is a stamp from the retired set Kindness Matters by Stampin Up.
Edges were distressed before adhering to the white card base.

More Blossoms and Bugs for Penny Black and More June Challenge

Happy Tuesday! It's time for our midmonth reminder post at Penny Black and More challenge, our theme is "Blossoms, Butterflies and/or Bugs". Still some time left to join us if you haven't already and as always you may enter up to 3 times for more chances to win! We do have several fantastic prizes this month, so hope you will join us!

This was a really quick card to make. I had the blue Distress Oxide inked background left over from a previous project. Here I simply added some stenciling using TCW Circle Explosion Stencil with yellow distress ink and stamped the Butterfly Suite image onto the background using Versafine Clair Nocturne. The sentiment is from an old and retired stamp set by Stampin Up, unfortunately I separated it from the main set and no longer remember which set it came from.
Butterflies which are part of the stamp Butterfly Suite were stamped again and fussy cut, then added to the card with mini brads. Inked the edges and adhered to a white card base.

Thanks so much for visiting! Be sure so check out the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team is sharing today!

Allsorts Challenge 524: Travel

Hello and welcome! It's time for new theme at Allsorts challenge. Lynn's turn to host this week and she picked the theme of "Travel" - perfect for this time of the year! Hope you can join us for a chance to win a fantastic prize by  Swedish House Crafts!

I thought this cute cat stamp by Penny Black was perfect for this theme and it's been a while since I last used this stamp. I paired it with a large background stamp I chose from Just for Fun Rubber Stamps when I was one of their design team members a few years ago. My Tonic stamp platform came in really handy for this large stamp, as I had to ink it up twice to get a good impression. I used Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide for stamping.

The cat has been stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and colored with Distress Markers and Zig Clean Color brush pens. Sentiments are Quotations Sticker Sentiments by Tim Holtz. The twine I've had for a long time - a huge roll I won several years ago. It may have been by The Twinery, but I can't find a link to it anywhere. The card base is Stampin Up's Real Red card stock.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend with plenty of sunshine. It's Summer performance day for my daughter's dance studio today. This  year they are doing The Swan Princess, based off the Swan Lake ballet. It's always such a joy to watch their performance!

Allsorts Challenge 523: Fantasy World

This week at Allsorts challenge it's my turn to host and I picked the theme of "Fantasy World". I'd love for you to join us .... we have a beautiful stamp set from Crafty Devils to give away this week.

I knew I wanted to use Lavinia stamps for my "Fantasy" card. It's never easy for me to decide what colors to choose but I decided to go with some purples, orange, pink and blue Distress Inks/Oxides and randomly inked up the background with an ink blending tool. I used a circle die cut to mask the moon. The florals on the background were done with Penny Black sets Sprigs and Butterfly Garden. Stamped words are from a retired set by Whimsy Stamps and I used one of Tim Holtz's stencil to add a design to the background. The mushrooms and fairies from Lavinia stamps were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturn ink. Sentiment is from the Penny Black set Snippets

I used a glitter pen to add some sparkles to the fairy wings and flower.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - June/July Challenge

Hello and Welcome to Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - June/July challenge! As you may  have guessed from the title of this post, this challenge will run for two months. I have family visiting later this month and into July so it will be a busy (but definitely fun) month for me. My initial thought was to skip this month and return in July, but as I still have some time now I decided to run this theme for two months, as some other challenges do to cover the busy Summertime. This means I will select two winners at the end of July, so I hope you will join in! Also, usually I ask for no more than 3 entries, but since this time it's a two -months challenge, you may enter as many times as you wish, as long as it is a new creation.

June/July Themes

Summer Scenes, Summer Treats or Summer Colors

Choose one theme or combine the themes as you wish! I can't wait to see your Summer creations!

If you are regular reader of my blog, then you will have seen this card I recently shared using the stamp set Summer by the Sea. As mentioned then, I made another card with the same stamp set and created another scene. This is a retired stamp set, but it's usually found on ebay.

I paired it again with the Hero Arts stamp sets Color Layering Waves and Color Layering Sea and Sky. Such great sets to create scenes with! Speaking of Hero Arts, did you see the  Hero Arts - June My Monthy Hero kit that was just released on Monday? It's a fun Jungle themed set perfect for Summer themed cards! You can click the snippet below to see what the kit looks like.

I started by stamping the beautiful girl using  Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on watercolor paper and colored her with Zig Clean Color markers. I stamped her again on a post it note, fussy cut to use as a mask. As on my previous card with these sets, I placed a strip of painters tape to mask off the sky portion, then inked the sea with Hero Arts Blue Water Reative ink from one of their previous Monthly Hero stamp kits. Waves were done with a stamp from the Color Layering Waves set usingthe same ink. Silhouette boat, clouds, birds and sentiment are both from the set Color Layering Sea and Sky and the sandy texure is an oldie from Stampin Up - Itty Bitty Backgrounds. Sky was inked with  Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide. The clouds were stamped with  Pumice Stone Distress Oxide and the birds were stamped with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide.

Stampin Up Summer By the Sea // Stampin Up Itty Bitty Backgrounds (both retired - but most likely availabe on ebay or etsy)

Below is a picture of both card I made with these sets.
You can read more about the boy card here. I do love how these turned out and had soooo much fun creating them both!

My Monthly Hero - June Kit Release

Hello and happy Monday!

I don't have a card to share, but wanted to mention that the new Hero Arts - June My Monthy Hero kit was just released today. Super cute jungle themed!

This is what this month's kit looks like. I really wish the stamps would be available without the die cuts. I know many crafters prefer matching dies, but I don't seem to  use matching dies much but love this stamp set!

As always, some great add-ons were released as well. Love this Layering Palm Tree set and how cute is this Monkey set!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blossoms, Bugs and Butterflies for Penny Black and More June Challenge

Good morning! I'm back already with a new card, today is the start of the June theme at Penny Black and More challenge. This month our theme is Blossoms, Bugs and Butterflies, a nice and easy one I think, and so perfect for this time of the year.

I used the Penny Black brushstroke stamp Light Touch to make my card. Love these brushstroke stamps, and can't believe a few years ago I was worried to use them because I didn't know how! All I had to do is color directly onto the stamp using distress markers and with the help of my stamp platform I can easily add more ink if needed. Sometimes I spritz with water and sometimes I don't. Here I only used a tiny bit of water. I'm sure other companies have these types of stamps, but my personal favorites are by Penny Black. Scrapbook.com has several of these and as I type this they are on sale. Unfortunately the stamp I used isn't available there anymore (it's from an older release) but they do have several recently released brushstroke stamps that I have on my wish list.

Related Products:

I used a chickenwire stencil and Antique Linen distress ink to add some interest to the background. The sentiment (an old one from Stampin Up, and I am sorry I don't remember which set it came with) was stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. Layered onto some pattern paper and then onto a white card base.

Allsorts Challenge 522: Black and White Plus One

Hello and happy June! Hope you're having some nice spring weather. Rainstorms, flooding and more rain over here. Then when it's not raining you have to deal with gnats and mosquitos. Almost impossible to do anything outside! I currently feel like we're living in a swamp! Hoping June will be better!!

It's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Kath is hosting and would like to see creations with Black and White plus one other color only. Hope you can join us for a chance to win a prize by Stamp Addicts!

I'm sure some of you longtime stampers will recognize this old stamp set from Stampin Up - Balmy Breezes. This set was released a long time ago (maybe 2005?), naturally long retired but it can be found on ebay.

Related Products:

I created an inky background with Distress Inks on a craft mat spritzed with water. Unfortunately I didn't keep track of the colors I used. Then stamped the images which are all from the Balmy Breezes set onto the dried inked background. I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink for stamping. The sentiment is a foil sticker from Tim Holtz's Quotations sticker sheet set. Distressed the edges, layered onto black card stock, then the white card base. Strips of pattern papers (retired from Stampin Up) were added to the card base behind the image panel. A quick and simple card to make. I finished it off by adding an olive green button and some black and white twine.

Stampin Up Balmy Breezes (retired but can be found on ebay)

I'm also sharing with these challenges:

Die Cuttin' Divas Tic Tac Toe (I used middle row of twine, polka dots and scallops - scallops on my card are in form of scallop seashells) // Moving along with the Times - Monochrome // Crafty Sentiment Designs  - Summer //

Anything Goes:
Simon Says Wednesday // Crafty Creations // Lemon Shortbread // Through The Craft Room Door // A Gem of a Challenge // Crafting from the Heart // We Love 2 Create
