Hello everyone, it's time for a new "I spy with my little eye" challenge (taking place right here on my blog) and Pauline and I are back with a new theme. As always we'd love for you to join us! There were lots of wonderful entries last month so remember to scroll down to see who made our top 2. Both will be invited to join us in a future challenge.
It's my turn to host this time and I selected the theme of
I spy with my little eye...........
something yellow.
I can't help but love yellow this time of the year. I'm sure it has something to do with the beautiful Daffodils that are blooming in my garden. But there are many more things that are yellow and we can't wait to see what yellow things we'll spy on your creations. The linky tool is at the end of this post.
And here is what we came up with for your inspiration:
My Card (Ellie)
info below
I absolutely love this quote by William Wordsworth. There used to be a Penny Black stamp with this quote but I never did own it and it's impossible to find now so I finally gave in and typed this up on the computer. I even downloaded a new font to use with it.
The Daffodil stamp is by Penny Black - Daffodil Dance. I used Letraset Aquamarkers (not sure these are still available...) to color directly on the stamp then used my stamp platform to get the results I wanted. I did some stenciling using the Circle Explosion and Chickenwire stencils then added the Lavinia Stamps bunny and bee. The stitched detail is a retired stamp from Whimsy Stamps. I used Stickles glitter around the flowers and bee wings. When it was all finished I wished I had printed the poem in black instead of gray but didn't want to start over again.
I plan to share the above card here:
- Beautiful Blossoms - Flowers
- Craft Rocket Challenges - For the Girls
- Double Trouble - Spring Florals
- FarmQuest General Store Challenge - Anything Country Goes
- Penny Black Saturday Challenge - PB Stamps
- Stamping Sensations - Spring
- Stencil Fun - Stencils and Spring
- The Crafting Challenge - Spring Air (I love it when the spring air smells like Daffodils!)
- Triple B - Blooms, Birds or Butterflies
- Try It On Tuesday - Use a Stencil
- Word Power Challenge - Words in focus (I do wish I had printed this poem in black instead of gray to be even more focal.)
We're so happy to have a guest designer this month, Irene who has been busy creating not one but 3 wonderful samples, each one using yellow.
Aren't they all beautiful!! Please visit Irene's blog to find out how she made the cards.

Lovely Spring creations Ellie, I seem to think that PB sentiment was released at a similar time to the wood mounted Daffodils way back, I seem to have had them forever.
ReplyDeleteB x
That is a lovely card and a beautiful sentiment!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Ellie .. I have that same daffodil stamp as a wood mounted version, and was in fact debating whether to use it on my DT card lol! Love how you have coloured it, your background details and the wonderful verse!!
ReplyDeletePauline xx
Thanks so much for choosing my bird/books card as one of the top 2 picks. Congrats to Liz C too. Fab inspiration for the yellow challenge xx
ReplyDeleteYes, yellow is always so pretty in the spring and love the way your stenciling broke between sun and grass colors, a great background for your daffadil flowers. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble and Beautiful Blossoms.

Love Ellie's, Pauline's and Irene's cards plus congrats to Steph and Liz.
ReplyDeleteEllie, Letraset rebranded to Winsor and Newton, so I believe W&N Promarker Watercolor markers are closest to them now. Just chatted with Cowling & Wilcox, official W&N sellers in UK, they say discontinued and that makes sense, since W&N Promarker already had Watercolour markers in their line. Amazon sells sets. xoxo
Thank you for choosing my card as one of the Top 2. I've sent you an email re GD for challenge 14. Congratulations to Steph. xx
ReplyDelete@Aimeslee Thanks for sharing the info about the Letraset Promarkers. I may end up buying a few more as my Distress Markers are no longer working and these worked so nicely but only have a small set of them so it's good to know how to find more of them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful daffoldils Ellie and thanks for sharing with us at TIOT.
ReplyDelete(The poem was part of my English Literature curriculum when I sat my school exams 50 years ago - I thought it was beautiful and learnt it off by heart - and can still recite it in it's entirety!)
Beautiful card, love the touch of white butterflies!!
ReplyDeleteI commented the wrong post.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards from you and Pauline and from the Gd too!
Such a pretty, cheerful card Ellie! Yellow has a way of making one smile.
