Hello everyone, a new theme at Allsorts challenge is starting today and Lynn is hosting this special challenge as it's Allsorts' 17th birthday. We are celebrating with many prizes from Lavinia, Buddly Crafts, Art Impressions, Highlight Crafts and there are also some goodie bags from the Allsorts prize box. The challenge runs for 2 weeks and our theme is simply Anything Goes.
Something a bit different from me today as I don't normally use die cuts as focal points but surprisingly I do love how this turned out.
The star of the card is the gorgeous hearts butterfly die by Penny Black available from Buddly Crafts if you are in the UK and several retailers in the US.
I cut the butterfly from white cardstock then used Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink and a blender for color. As you can see, with this die you will get lots of little hearts. I saved them all and added 4 to the card as embellishments. On the background I used an old Tim Holtz mini tile stencil and the same pink ink. The large postage die cut was done with Penny Black's Posted, also available at Buddly Crafts in the UK or several retailers in the the US such as scrapbook.com.
On the background I used a script stamp from Tracy Evans stamp set Magnolia. A button with some twine was used as another embellishment.

💖Verona 💖
Today I am also continuing with some more vacation photos, this time it's a few snapshots from Verona. This was just a short stop as we were on our way to my sister's house (north of Munich) but since we had to change trains in Verona I decided to book the train tickets separately so we could spend a few hours in Verona. And we were not disappointed about our decision although I wish we had a little extra time. But when your family lives over 4000 miles away then you plan to spend as much time as possible with them therefore I didn't plan a full day in Verona.
Brilliant photo’s of your trip to visit family.
ReplyDeleteLove your card wth the die cut butterfly focal point. xxx
Great card Ellie, the beautiful butterfly makes a lovely focal point. Thanks for sharing the photos of your holiday. They reminded me of a trip to Verona with my daughter many years ago, when we saw Juliet’s balcony. According to our local guide, it was added to a building when so many tourists went to Verona looking for a balcony which didn’t existed. 🤣 xx
ReplyDeleteYour card is so lovely and the die is beautiful. Oh, Verona looks like a dream! I love the cat shop and yea, how do those poppies grow next to a train track?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful butterfly and your layout and colour combo certainly complement it so well. Wonderful photos of Verona too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly card, like how the stamping goes across the two layers and your use of the hearts as embellishments! Fabulous pictures!
ReplyDeleteGreat card Ellie!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your vacation photos!
Gorgeous butterfly card, I love the little heart cut outs on the butterfly, the text stamping and the whole composition. I well remember entering the very first Allsorts challenge - a lot of time has flown since then!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of Verona too - Italy generally seems to be so pretty xx
A lovely butterfly die with the hearts and the postage stamp background adds interest too
ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty. The photos from Verona are incredible. I definitely understand what you mean about spending the most time with family when you travel to see them. I was telling the blog ladies in April that as many times as I'd been to North Carolina I had never been in Asheville or anyplace else other than the Wilmington area since that where all my family members are and it seems silly to plan a trip anywhere else in the state and NOT see them instead.
ReplyDeleteI think your card looks lovely with dies and stencils used in pink and green. Very eye catching. I’ve never been to Verona but it seems to have lots of the charm and history I appreciate when visiting different places in Europe.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Ellie. The large butterfly really pops with the green background diecut and love the added stamping. Looks like you had an amazing holiday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly Ellie and your trip photos are amazing, what a great trip you had!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining our challenge at Stencil Fun and Triple B!
