Fashion Friday: A Casual Look with Straight Leg Jeans and T-Shirt

Hello and happy Friday! If you've been following any fashion blogs or have been reading any fashion related magazines then I'm sure you've heard that straight leg jeans are currently (and for a little while now) having a moment. Today I am styling a pair of straight leg jeans (mine are old - from Gap) and a simple striped T-shirt from Kohls. I was shopping for back to school clothes.... now that my daughter is shopping in the Juniors department I always seem to find something for myself :-) I thought this simple scoop neck tee in the raspberry (or deep rose) color would be perfect for the end of summer season and into fall. I love this color for fall!

My jeans are old,  this pair from Target by Universal Threads looks similar to mine.

I'm linking to a few options below. Remember: these models are all very tall, so they will  be longer on most of us.

26.5" inseam
27" inseam uncuffed

Some Cigarette Jeans below. These are a slim straight cut, whereas the jeans above are a relaxed straight silhouette.

28" inseam
This crop style Prima AG is  26.5" inseam and might be a better fit if you are petite.

The scoop neck t-shirt is by SO brand found in the Juniors department at Kohl's. I bought it in July and can't find a link to it now. This rose colored top from Target is similar but without stripes.

The UGG driving loafers I am wearing were purchased last year at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and are no longer available. A few similar options are linked below. Or you can see all of Nordstrom's Driving Loafers here. Remember, shipping and return shipping is always free at Nordstrom, which makes buying shoes online very easy.

This shoe is also available in wide widths and several other colors.

This shoe is out of my price range, but may not be for some of you, so I'm including it.

While it was warm on the day we took these pictures, I decided to bring a thin cardigan along for a fall look. I love wearing cardigans, as a matter of fact I have them in reach all year long because my family members love to run the AC and I am always cold.

This minimalist style cardigan is from H&M (old). It's made of a thin knit material which makes it perfect for 3 out of 4 seasons. (I need something warmer in winter.) This specific cardigan is no longer available - a few option are below....

I really love this one but the sizes are limited.

My bag is by B.O.C. I really wanted to wear my brown saddle bag again, but I thought this deep red and brown bag would be a good match for the Tshirt.

For jewery I am wearing a gold-toned necklace I recently purchased from Loft. This is a two piece set and each one can be worn by itself. As you can see the leaves are sized differently and the chain lenghts is different as well, so they can be worn layered. I always seem to go for just one though.
Speaking of Loft, the store is running a great Labor Day Weekend Sale - 40 to 50% off almost everything. This necklace is an extra 40% off with code: LONGWEEKEND.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. Hope you have a fantastic Labor Day weekend! Not too much planned here. Tomorrow my daughter is going to audition for the Nutcracker Ballet (yes it's that time of the year already!!!). Then we might have to go for another pointe shoe try-on (if the order arrives as expected). It's been a struggle finding a pair of pointe shoes that fit ever since she broke her big toe in the spring. I'm positive though as it seemed like she had a good fitting session last weekend, just had to order a size up to get the right fit.

Enjoy your weekend and hoping for some beautiful weather!

Fashion Friday: Blue Jeans and Pale Pink Dotted Top

Happy Friday! I'm happy to say that I have another summer look to share today. This top is a little bit on the dressier side so it's not a top I'd wear on a daily basis. But it's a great weekend top and a perfect way to dress up a a pair of blue jeans. I wore this out to lunch and a small midwestern museum.  I shopped my closet for (almost) everything but I tried to find some comparable links.

This sleeveless blouse is by "Elle" purchased at Kohls a few years ago. Target has some cute sleeveless tops this year and some great finds at Loft. I love the style of this top from Loft and the Zebra print is a fun one, but I personally don't really wear animal prints. They are just not "me", but I'm sure some of you would love that print!

    LOFT

The blouse is made of a cool flowy material - the dotted front is polyester and the back is the same shade of pale pink but a solid colored rayon (no polka dots) and it ties in the back of the neck the same way the zebra print top I linked from loft, ties. Unfortunately we forgot to take a photo from the back.

I wore skinny jeans from Banana Republic ( you guessed it - also a few years old), so no direct link. These are mid rise 26" inseam and I folded them up once as you can see. I'm about 5"2' so most jeans do run a little bit long on me. These jeans however are not my favorite. While I do love how they fit overall, the back pockets seem to be a little bit large.

My sandals I also purchased a couple of seasons ago from Kohls. These do have a little bit of a heel but since it's a sort of a wedge heel they are very walkable. The brand is "Natural Soul", but it appears that they have renamed this brand Soul Naturalizer. These sandals may not be the most trendy, but for a "comfort shoe" I think they look stylish enough. I'm very picky when it comes to shoes! They have to be comfortable and "somewhat" stylish at the same time! (While I can walk comfortably in these sandals, I did switch them out at the museum with my Abeo Samantha sandals I wore in last Friday's post, because I didn't know how much walking we would be doing. Although I may need to start wearing  heels more often as my youngest caught up with my height and I don't want to be the shortest 😄)

This pair currently available at Kohl's, although not the same, is comparable to mine. I'm wearing a 7.5  and think they are true to size (I usually wear size 8 in all types of shoes, while I do occasionally go with a 7.5 in sandals).

I've linked some other options I found at Amazon Fashion by the same brand.

A closer look at the sandals below...

I carried the same saddle crossbody bag again (old - by NineWest) because it matched the sandals perfectly and it's my current go-to bag, although I do switch them out when needed. (Click here if you missed last Friday's fashion post where I styled this bag with denim shorts and a t-shirt from Loft.)

A closeup of the bag and a glimpse at a beaded bracelet I received for my birthday picked out by my dear daughter. It was purchased at Nordstrom Rack while visiting the Chicago suburbs this summer. How I wish I'd live closer to that store!! But thank goodness for online shopping :)

I didn't add a necklace to this outfit because I thought the dotted top was "busy" enough and no necklace was needed.
Sleeveless blouses work well in fall (and spring) too, all I have to do is add a fitted jacket or maybe a cardigan and switch out the sandals with ankleboots and it will make a great fall (or spring) outfit.

Fashion Friday: An Everyday Summer Look

Hello and thank you so much for visiting! I wasn't sure if I was going to continue posting fashion shots of me. Truth is my life isn't very glamorous and I pretty much live in blue jeans (or blue jean shorts in summer). But we did get to take some photos the other day and I will continue to share fashion photos whenever I have something to share and I am hoping to do so every Friday. Who knows I may even step out of my comfort zone occasionally :)

Today I am sharing a denim shorts outfit with a new t-shirt I recently purchased from Loft. They had a 50% off sale a couple of weeks ago and I decided to order a few things. Unfortunately not everything I ordered I kept but this Vintage Soft Tee I really liked.

It's a little bit longer than I prefer (shortgirlproblem) but I loved the fit otherwise and I decided to tuck the front part in. I love the folded sleeves which makes it almost look like a cap sleeve top.

The shorts are from Kohl's from a previous season, they are by Mudd and a 3.5" inseam. I can't find the exact pair on their site but this one by Apt 9 looks similar with a 4.5" inseam. But keep in mind that I am short (just around 5'2") and a longer inseam might be a better fit for those of you taller than me. Otherwise I found this pair by AG on Amazon, but that's a premium brand and verrrry expensive.

My saddle crossbody bag is by NineWest. I found it at Goodwill in  "like new" condition and couldn't pass it up. I was not able to find a link to this specific bag anywhere, but this saddle bag by Universal Thread from Target looks really cute. And some pretty ones on Amazon as well.

I am wearing a necklace by Lucky Brand. It's actually part of a layered necklace but I like to keep things simple and only wore one of the 4 necklaces. And guess what, while looking for a link, I actually found it on clearance at the Lucky Brand shop for less than $10.

For shoes I am wearing a pair of nude strappy sandals with arch support by The Walking Company - Abeo Samantha. These were recommended by fashion bloggers as a great travel sandal and I finally was able to purchase a pair this year. I love that they come with built in orthotics and I really like the thin straps. They are currently marked down to $79 from $129 and luckily I was able to get them at that discounted price as well. They are still expensive but I plan on keeping these sandals for a very long time! In case you are ordering online, if you're in between sizes I suggest sizing down. I normally wear 7.5 to 8 in all kinds of shoes and the 8 was too loose but they don't come in half sizes so I got the 7. Best is if you can find a local Walking Company store. There are non in my area but I found a Walking Company shop at Market Commons in Myrtle Beach. How's a pair of sandals for a souvenir LOL. My feet did hurt the first time I wore them but after that I've had no problem.

I don't have the prettiest feet so I'm sparing you a closeup :-) but this is what the sandals look like.

I'm wearing the same  prescription sunglasses again - the aviator frame is by Vera Bradley. Some non-prescription versions are available here on Amazon

The sun has been out in full force again when these pictures were taken which doesn't do my barely tanned legs any favors in these photos. I don't tan easily. I know tanning beds are an option, but they make me feel claustrophobic (I went to a few sessions in my late teens that's how I know 😅) so they are not an option for me. And I haven't found a self tanner yet that I liked.....as a matter of fact I quit looking for one :)

My First Ever Fashion Post: A Favorite Top

I'm sharing a completely different post today. In the recent years I've been following some fashion bloggers (thank you Amy for introducing me to fashion blogs!)  Well, just like in papercrafts there are fashion blog linky parties where you can link up your style. So here I am sharing my first ever "fashion post"👀. Finding clothes that fit has never been easy for me as I am short and most pants, skirts and dresses are too long so it's been a struggle (and I don't agree with paying extra to have clothes hemmed...). But following fashion blogs has been helpful. One thing I learned is if I purchase ankle or crop pants (in regular lengths) they will fit like regular pants 😀.

By the way, if you are following my blog for my papercrafts, don't worry, I don't plan on quitting my hobby anytime soon, and will continue to post my  handmade cards as usual. But I figured since I rarely post to my blog more than once a week, I might as well share other topics here instead of starting a new blog.

So these photos aren't the best. The sun was blaring and we probably didn't have the right setting on my DSLR camera. It was set to "portrait" but the photos look a bit grainy. My husband and daughter were both involved in taking these photos and taking "fashion" photos will be a learning process for all of us - should I decide to do this again :-)

So what do you think of this outfit?

I am wearing a top I found at Target last summer I believe (maybe even two summers ago?? Time flies!!) It was an impulse purchase - I  love this print! Wish I could link to it, but as you can imagine this specific print is no longer available. Here are some current options I found at Target.com by the same brand (Xhilaration). I wasn't really a fan of the tassel details when I bought this top (I think they were "trending" back then), but they grew on me and I don't mind them now. And I love that this top keeps me cool on a hot summer day but the colors are more muted and are perfect for fall as well. We usually have beautiful fall weather here up into mid- October.

The jeans I recently purchased from the Kohl's clearance rack. They are Levi's Denizen brand boyfriend jeans.  This pair by Levi Signature looks similar and this one by Lucky Brand looks promising as well but more expensive. According to the reviews sizing down is recommended on both. These jeans are supposed to be a cropped style, but as I mentioned, when I buy cropped pants they will fit me like regular pants.

The purse I picked up from Walmart last spring. This crossbody purse by Vera Bradley looks similar, but is higher priced than my purse and I am sure a higher quality as well and I love the pretty lining  on the inside. This purse from Target also looks similar and comes in several colors.

Not the best picture of my shoes, but I wore Espadrilles by "Grasshoppers" purchased at DSW. They are also 1+ years old but definitely a favorite. This specific style is no longer available but I did find a very similar pair on Amazon.

I realize my sunglasses do not match my outfit at all, but they are prescription glasses and the only pair of sunglasses I own with my current prescription lenses. The frame is by Vera Bradley. When I got these glasses I didn't realize that they weren't going to match 95% of my clothes :-) I will have to wait until next year to get a new pair as my insurance only allows a new pair every other year, and I just got a new pair or regular glasses last year.

While my frames were picked out at an eye doctor's clinic, Vera Bradley sunglasses with non-presciption lenses are also availabe on Amazon, and I've linked a few below.
