Playing with ink

I treated myself to some new stamps recently, so I decided to get a little inky today. My card has been heavily inspired by creations made by Heather Telford. She does amazing work using Penny Black stamps.

The stamp I used is called "Winter Ledge" by Penny Black. I created the snowy hills background by cutting "hills" freehand and using them as masks. I used an ink applicator tool to apply the ink. (I used distress and SU inks).  I also punched a little circle that I used as a mask for the moon.

The sentiment is from the set "Winter Letter Seals" by Whimsy Stamps. I used one of Whimsy's dies to cut it out, but trimmed a little bit off from the top and bottom of the die cut. The ribbon I  used is night of navy from SU. I sprayed the card with glimmer mist before adhering it to the card base.

I'd like to play along in a few challenges:
Crafty Calendar -  Cold and Frosty
Brown Sugar – Winter
Keep It Simple! -  Anything Goes
Sarah Hurley Challenges -  Create Your Own Background
Loves Rubber Stamps  Anything Goes

Thanks so much for visiting today. Hope you have a fabulous day!!

Favorite 5 Christmas cards of 2013

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday with your family. Mine was good although I was a little under the weather, and hubby had to work Christmas Day until 3.
Kids were super excited as always about Christmas, because they get little surprises left by Christkindl on Christmas Eve, then of course Santa visits us too, so more presents Christmas morning. Had to exchange some things that my son got, because Santa just has no clue what beyblades are and doesn't know the difference between beyblades and beywarriers. LOL. Thanks to the amazing return policies he was able to get what he wanted after all! It was a nice and relaxing Christmas spend with my little family.

Since I don't  have anything new to share right now, I decided to play along in

Here they are in no particular order. If you like to read more about each project, simply click the link above the card.

All these cards were made from September on, so if you are a regular visitor of my blog you might remember seeing  them not so long ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'll be off to visit some of the other linked projects now, to see all the gorgeous Christmas cards out there!

Have a fabulous day everyone, and enjoy the rest of 2013!!

Penny Black and More - Midmonth reminder

There is still a little time left to play along in our December challenge at Penny Black and More. This month we'd like to see your "Traditional Christmas Creations". Like on my first card, I used the colors red green and a little bit gold here too. I added some blue too this time, to go with little frosty.

The snowman and sentiment are both from the set "Holly Jolly" by penny black. The flourish below the red card stock is from the set "Damask Borders" by Flonzcraft.
Added a layered snowflake (whimsy stamps die set), a little button and some gold cord. To finish it off I did some sewing. Of course I had to add glitter too!

Hope you'll join us this month. You don't have to use a Penny Black stamp, you can use any brand, just no digis are allowed. And don't forget you can enter up to 3 times!

You can reach the challenge blog by clicking the logo below.

Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog

WordPlay Saturday - December

Happy Saturday everyone, and thanks for stopping by! Hope you are all having a good weekend! We got snowed in last night and it's still snowing! Had to drive home from work in it. Glad I only live a few blocks away from work and so I didn't have to drive very far. It was very slippery and they hadn't cleared the roads yet. It does look really beautiful outside, maybe we'll take a winter walk in the park later (after baking some Christmas cookies).  I just love winter landscapes! Just don't like driving in them.

It's time for a new "word" for my wordplay saturday challenge, but first I want to thank you all for playing along in my "snowman" challenge last month. It was so much fun seeing all the different snowmen!

Whimsy Inspirations Challenge - Rubber DT Inspiration

Happy Wednesday everyone and thanks so much for visiting! It's time for some Inspiration from the Whimsy Stamps Rubber Design Team for our current Whimsy Inspirations Challenge. There are still about 2 weeks left to play along, don't miss your chance to be entered into the prize drawing. Several Whimsy prizes are up for grabs!

This month it's all about "Partytime". I decided to make a " Christmas Tea-Party" time card, thought this stamp by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps would be perfect for that. And which little girl wouldn't want to have a little tea party with her kitty on Christmas Day?
The image has been stamped onto Copic Xpress Blending card stock, which I finally decided to get, since I almost ran out of Neenah Card Stock. In case anyone is wondering about this card stock, compared with Neenah Card Stock, the ink stays wet longer, which means the markers are easier to blend. I also noticed a lot less bleeding out of the lines, which always annoyed me when using Neenah CS.  The paper is pricy, but I am using it only for my copic coloring, so the 25 sheets I received from Amazon will probably last me some time.

As I do on many of my cards, the image has been cut out using my cutterbee scissors. The bottom part of my background (white) card stock, has been inked using the direct to paper technique and a couple shades of distress inks. Then I stamped the "Christmas Tree in Words" on the right side. I wanted to stamp the girl image before adhering it onto the white card stock, so I could get the steam onto the card that I ended up cutting off. But, as you can see, I forgot to do that before I glued the image on, so now I have no steam. Oh well...

The border on top was made using Whimsy's double scallop border die. I added the two ornaments (seasonal ornaments set) cut out using the ornaments die set and some gold cord.

Products used:
Stamps: Apple Cyder Jubilee, Christmas Tree in Words set, Seasonal Ornaments set (all Whimsy Stamps)
Papers: Copic blending card, SU
Tools: Ornaments die set, double scallop border die (both Whimsy Stamps)
Accessories: gold cord, glitter

To play along in the Whimsy Challenge simply click the logo below.
You don't have to use a Whimsy Stamps to play along, although if you do you will have an extra chance at being invited as a guest designer for a future challenge.

I am playing along in a few other challenges too:
 LEJ Designs  -Festive Fun
Loves Rubber Stamps-Anything Goes Christmas
Paper Minutes - Christmas Cards With Typical Christmas Symbols
Twisted Tuesday -Fussy Cutting (by hand)
 Get Inky! - Christmas

24 Days of Christmas Event at Whimsy Stamps

Hello everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!
Have you heard yet about the exciting 24 days of Christmas Event we are holding at Whimsy Stamps?

Every day this month until December 24th, one or more of the Design Team members will share a new creation with you on the Whimsy blog, as well as a letter  each day. After you have written down all 24 letters, you will need to unscramble them to make a 4-word phrase and you can email the phrase to Whimsy Stamps to be entered into the grand prize drawing.  That is not all, there will also be some random winners during the month, but we don't know yet which blogs or when they will be chosen from, so to maximize your chances of winning, you should leave comments on both the Whimsy blog and our own personal blogs.

Today is my turn to share some Whimsy Christmas Inspiration with you!  Be sure to visit the Whimsy blog to collect your letter if you'd like to play along in this event.

I had some time to create two cards for today's post.
The first one  uses the gorgeous stamp "Lissy's Little Light", which is from the latest release. Hadn't had a chance yet to use it, so I decided to use it for today's post.

She's been colored using copic markers and then cut out. I found the music sheet paper in my stash, I did use some distress ink along the edge, and stamped one of the "lavish flourishes" stamps in the top left corner. The sentiment is from the set "Holiday Cheer" Thought it would be perfect to use with the image. As you can see, I used the same flourish behind the sentiment too.

Embellished with some ribbon and gold cord, glitter and the diecut "holly and berries" using Whimsy's die.

For my second card I used an older stamp set, illustrated by Crissy Armstrong - Peace on Earth.
This set includes several beautiful images, including a gorgeous angel, and sentiments.  One of my favorite non-cute sets!
The image above has been colored using copic markers. The sentiment is from the set "Holiday Notables 2", and cut out using the Notables 2 die. Embellished with glitter, a clear button and silver cord.

Don't forget to stop by the Whimsy Inspirations Blog to collect your letter, and to leave a comment there too for more chances to win.

Have a great day!

Tiddly Inks - Challenge Time

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks for stopping by! It's time for a new challenge at Tiddly Inks, and  I get to guest design one more time!
I used the brand  new digi - Santa's Helpers- just released about a week ago. Isn't it adorable!!
I colored her up using copic markers.
Kept the card pretty simple to keep the focus on the cute image. I layered it onto some designer paper from Whimsy stamps, it fit my coloring perfectly! Doesn't happen very often, especially if I color the image before choosing the paper.

Both sentiments are part of a set by Craft UK. I used a Whimy Shapeology die to cut out the Ho, Ho, Ho (Notables 2 die).
To finish it off I did a little sewing, added a sowflake (Whimsy's layered snowflake die), and a clear button with some silver cord. Also added a sticky rhinestone between the two sentiments.

Entering this into a few other challenges too:
Lexi's Creations  Christmas
Paper Playtime -  Anything Goes
Stamp and Create -  Anything Goes
There She Goes - W - Christmas Critters

Have a great day!!

Penny Black and More - December Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone and Happy December! I can see the Holidays are sneaking up on us again! Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I am happy to say I am just about done shopping, got almost everything before Black Friday ( I try to avoid the crowds on those busy days and refuse to shop on Thanksgiving Day - although I personally had to work). Just one more item needed from the American Girl store.I will get that when we go to Chicago next week, then all that's left is the wrapping.
Now getting Christmas cards mailed out, that is a whole other issue for me, I always wait until the last minute, so lets see, maybe I can start a new tradition and actually mail them out before the 15th this year...

We have a fun challenge this month at Penny Black and More.

Traditional Christmas Colors.

For me that would be red, green and gold. I used a cute stamp from the clear set "Holly Jolly" from Penny Black of course.
I stamped a border around the image using a stamp from Flonz Craft (Damask Baroque Border set). Lots of fabulous borders are included in this set, and it is very reasonably priced too.

The sentiment is from a set by Craft UK. I used some older designer paper in the background. Finished the card off by sewing, added some glitter and gold cord, and a star shaped button that I had forever!

Be sure to stop by the Penny Black and More challenge blog to see the rest of the creations. You won't be disappointed! And maybe you'd like to play along too! We have several fabulous sponsors this month - Penny Black, Classy Crafts, FlonzCraft, Stix2, Nicecrane for several chances to win!
You don't need to use a Penny Black stamp, feel free to use any make clear or rubber stamp, just no digis please, and the main image has to be stamped or be a Penny Black Stickeroo!

Would love to play along in a few other challenges too:

A Creative Need - November - Ribbons or Buttons
 Annabelle Stamps Challenge - Christmas
Stampin' For The Weekend -  Feeling Festive
Stempelsonnen Challenge -  Merry Christmas

Whimsy Stamps November Rubber Stamp RELEASE DAY HOP

It's release day at Whimsy Stamps!!! Today Whimsy Stamps released several new super cute stamps, as well as dies, a couple of gorgeous designer paper packs and something completely new - digital card kits designed by Michele Roos for Whimsy Stamps.
If you'd like to see all the newly released products on one page, just visit the
Whimsy Inspirations Blog to take a peek.
Of course we are holding another blog hop with some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team.
And as always one lucky "hopper" will win two gorgeous new release stamps. All you have to do to be entered, is visit each DT member (listed below), and leave comments along the way.
For today I decided to use one of the brand new digital card kits designed by Michele Roos. These are so fun to create with and use! I used the kit "Frosty Night 1" and made this adorable little box. I thought it was the perfect size for a set of handmade earrings.

Yes, I did make those earrings myself. So proud of myself. I have been wanting to create earrings for some time now, but always got confused by all the different materials, stones, metals out there that I had no clue where to even begin. Finally decided to buy the e-book "visually teaching jewelery making", and that really helped me a lot. So there it is, my first pair of handmade earrings, which I will be wearing for my daughter's christmas dance recital :-)

The beautiful sentiment is part of the card kit. The penguin however is not, it is a stamp from today's release, illustrated by the amazingly talented Crissy Armstrong - Penguin Chocolate Surprise

The image has been colored using copic markers, and then cut out. I added a little bit of glitter to the bow and the hat.
Here is another view. I added an eyelet onto the polka dotted tag (which is part of the kit), then used some twine to hold the penguin and tag together.

Doesn't this make a cute little gift? Of course instead of the earrings you can add other jewelry, maybe some candy or even folded $$. The box measures about 2" square by 1 1/4 deep. Super cute!
And it was so easy to create, all I had to do is print out the template, then cut out, score and fold.

Be sure to visit the rest of the Whimsy Designers so see what they have made, and don't forget to leave comments along the way for a chance to win some Whimsy Goodies. You have until tomorrow, Thursday, noon EST to hop along. The winners from all the hops will be announced on the

Whimsy Stamps November Rubber Stamps - Sneak Peek hop

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It's almost time for the Whimsy Stamps Rubber and Die November Release, and that means today is Sneak Peek Blog Hop time. I hope you'll join us for a chance to win a fabulous Whimsy prize.
You will have 24 hours to hop along, to be entered into the drawing. Then tomorrow we are holding the Release blog hop, and will be showing you the full reveal, followed by a review hop on Thursday. Each day there will be one winner. All winners will be announced on the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Blog on Friday!

Here is what I created for today.
I used one of the new (available tomorrow) stamps from Whimsy's Time for Tea designs - Warm Hands, Warm Heart. She's been colored using copic markers and then cut out using my cutterbee scissors.
I decided to create a little scene, so I cut a "hill" using an oval shape by CM, and some pretty designer paper for the "sky". I thought the new die "santa's sleigh" would fit perfectly into my scene, so I added it too. You should be able to find this die tomorrow (or later today perhaps?) in Whimsy's Shapeology die section.

Found the perfect sentiment too, from one of last year's releases - Sleigh Ride by Raindrop Echo Designs for Whimsy. What a beautiful set, not only does it include several sentiments, but also a gorgeous "sleigh ride" image and an old fashioned sleigh. Just beautiful!

To finish my card I added a few silver snowflakes (made with Whimsy's snowflakes border die - I just cut them apart). Then added some silver cord and some machine sewing. Of course there had to be some glitter too!

Enough about my card now. Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations, I am sure they are all stunning! And don't forget to leave comments along the way for a chance to be entered into the drawing.  Here is a complete list of design team blogs to visit.

Have fun hopping, and hope to see you back tomorrow, as I have another fun new release project planned!

Inspired by Pinterest 1

Happy Thursday everyone and thanks for stopping by!

Since I am doing all this "pinning" on pinterest, I thought it's about time I actually create things inspired by pinterest. So today is my first official "Pinterest Inspired" post, and hopefully I will do this on a regular basis. If there is anyone out there wanting to play along with me being inspired by pinterest, then I'd love to see what you have made, including a link in your post to what inspired you on pinterest.

Above is my creation inspired by a beautiful card I pinned some time ago. I used a beautiful puppy digistamp from Lee Holland. I was lucky enough to catch this one as a freebie off  Lee's Facebook page. It was a 24 hour freebie, and might now be available to purchase in Lee's Etsy store (see Lee Holland's blog sidebar).

It's been colored using Copic Markers. I fussy cut it out, adhered it to my card using pop up dots.

This is the card that inspired me. Isn't it beautiful?

I kept the same layout, but instead of a snowman I used the cute puppy. Of course I don't have that die/ frame, so I used my double scallop square doily die from Whimsy Stamps instead. I am going to need a few winter birthday cards, so I kept the birthday theme on my card. The card needed something on the top edge so I added some ribbon.

I would love to play along in a few challenges:

Crafty Ribbons -  Anything Goes with Ribbon
Crafty Creations - Dies/punches
Everybody-Art-Challenge  Card For A Boy
 4 Krafty Girlz Anything Goes

I would love to come see your pinterest inspired projects, so I am including inlinkz below.
Before linking please be sure that your post includes a link to your pinterest inspiration piece.

Have a fabulous day everyone!!

Whimsy Inspires Challenge - Rubber Design Team Inspiration

Happy Wednesday everyone and many thanks for stopping by!

I made today's card for the Whimsy Inspirations Challenge, it's the Rubber Team's turn to share some inspiration, so be sure to visit the Challenge blog to see all the fabulous creations by the Design Team. There are still a couple weeks left to play along in this month's challenge for a chance to win one of the fabulous Whimsy prizes up for grabs. The theme is simply anything goes, so if you are creating something, why not enter it into the challenge for a chance to win!

Here is what I created, using one of Kenny K's stamps from the October release. By the way, Kenny K is going to be selling his own stamps soon, and they will soon no longer be available to be purchased at Whimsy Stamps.I believe all the Kenny K rubber stamps are on sale now since they are being retired from whimsy stamps. If you are interested you can have a peek HERE.
I used copic markers to color the image, it has been fussy cut out, and I decided not to use the background part of the stamp.

I thought the sentiment from the set "Winter Notables 1" would be perfect to use with the words on the image. It has been cut out using the Notables 1 die.

I kept the card pretty CAS, so it can be used for a masculine card. Simply added the button with twine and a diecut snowflake using Whimsy's layered snowflake die set. Oh, and I needed something on the top corners, so I went with silver brads. Maybe I should have used silver cord with the button too, but that didn't occur to me until just now, and the card is finished, so it will stay this way.

Products used:
Papers: SU, Neenah, Winter Blues DP  (Whimsy Stamps)
Embellishments: button, twine, brads
Copics for coloring

Hello and welcome to the November Word Play Saturday Challenge!
I want to thank each and every one of you that played along in last month's challenge. And I also want to apologize for not having been able to visit all your blogs. Before I get to the new "word" I'd like to announce last month's winner.

Random.org chose #163

That is Shell.

Congratulation Shell, please email me your complete address at ellibelle_blog at yahoo dot com.

Tiddly Inks Special Guest Designer

Hello everyone and many thanks for visiting!

Earlier this year I was one of the lucky people chosen as a special guest designer for Tiddly Inks. Huge thanks to Christy off Tiddly Inks for allowing me to play with some of  her cuties!!

Below is my creation for  the latest challenge - anything goes. I hope you'll get a chance to play along in this challenge, as there is a fabulous tiddly inks prize up for grabs!

Here is what I created using the super adorable digi "Lilli Claire -Make a Wish".
She's been colored  using copic markers. The papers are from a 6x6 paper pack by My Minds Eye, which I purchased at Hobby Lobby some time ago. Thought the image would be perfect for a little birthday card, so I added a birthday sentiment from Whimsy Stamps. The flourish was made using one of Whimsy Stamps Flourishes dies, and the beautiful flower was diecut using a MFT die. I added some sticky pearls and glitter as embellishments, and to finish if off I did a little bit of sewing.

Here is another view:

If you'd like to play along in this challenge, simply click THIS LINK to see what the super talented Tiddly Inks Designer and Guests created, and to link up your own Tiddly Inks creation. Want to play along but don't have any Tiddly Inks images? Then be sure to check out the Freebies and Bargain Bin, and don't forget about all the other cuties available in the Tiddly Inks Store.
