Allsorts 492: Pretty Papers

It's saturday again and time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. This week our theme is: Pretty Papers and we have a great prize to give away to one lucky winner! We're giving away a pretty prize package with some designer paper packs and gorgoeus ribbon, so hope you can join in for a chance to win!

I decided to make two cards today....
Whimsy Stamps Designer Paper - Retired // Stampin Up Feathered Hope - retired

The only stamping I have done here is the sentiment and the hanging vines stamped in green. The gorgeous hummingbird image is part of the pattern paper. Unfortunately I can't link to this paper anymore as it's an older pack from Whimsy Stamps and no longer available. I love hummingbirds, this year I've had many more coming to my feeder than I did the previous years, and I plan on putting a couple of extra ones out next spring to attract even more of them.
I also used a really old sentiment on this card, it's a favorite one  from Stampin Up from the stamp set "Feathered Hope", only available on ebay or etsy, or maybe a local yard sale. The vines stamp is from Penny Black's set "Sprigs".  I embellished with a pink button and some jute twine.

For my next card I picked some sepia colored designer paper from the Prima Marketing pack called "something blue".  The image from the Penny Black set All Abloom was heat embossed on Bristol Vellum and I used a Zig Clean Color marker (mid-gray) for coloring the image. On the background I used an old Stampin Up script stamp (french script) and a harlequin stamp from another old set (looks like spring). The sentiment and butterfly are part of the Penny Black set ... The postmark and seal stamp are from the Penny Black set Posted with Love.
I inked up the edges with Antique Linen distress ink, ran some scissors over the edge to add some distressing and I also did this with the designer paper. Added some jute twine before adhering the image panel.

  1. Two really beautiful cards Ellie. the sentiment on the first is lovely and compliments the papers so well. And the monochrimatic look of the secons is equally pretty.

  7. Wow, Ellie, your cards are absolutely beautiful. I love the delicate artwork in the first as well as the wonderful little poem by Emily Dickenson. I think the hanging vines which you've added randomly to the gorgeous paper fit in as if they were meant to be there. A lovely creation! Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
