Monochromatic Scene with Lavinia and Penny Black Stamps

Hello and welcome!

It's Saturday again and that means a new theme starts today at  Allsorts challenge. We'd love for you to join us! Our optional theme chosen by Lynn is "Scenic (or Anything Goes)". There are two prizes to be won, a beautiful Indigo Blu stamp and a choice of 3 Ruth Hamilton Designs images.

A scenic card is a perfect opportunity to ink up Lavinia stamps. Here I combined them with some Penny Black stamps too.

I started out by inking up some hills using a torn copy paper mask and a small die cut circle for the sun. I used Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress inks.

The pine trees and flower (Lavinia's Fairy Fir Tree Small and Lavender stamps) were stamped using Mowed Lawn Distress ink, then I stamped the fairy boy (Pan) and hare (from Wild Hares Small set) using Versafine Onyx ink. I wanted to add some flying birds in the sky and found these from Penny Black's set Nature's Friends. The set also included the stamp with the sitting bird and branches and decided it would make a nice foreground so I stamped it using the same black ink.

The sentiment is part of the Hero Arts set Cowboy Adventure. Thought it was perfect for the card.

I used a Sakura Stardust gel pen to add some highlights (many thanks to Pauline for helping me find the right pen to use!!)

You can find some of the products I use here. These and some of the links above are affiliate links meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase through the links but as always at no additional cost to you.

For your inspiration, below is another similar card I made previously using Lavinia's Pan, the same pine tree and a different hare.

  1. Great idea keeping to just the two colours Ellie, the stamping in black against the green tones really allows them to pop and draw the eye into the scene.
