It's Saturday again and we have another fun theme for you at Allsorts challenge. Lorraine (Lolo) is hosting this week and selected the optional theme of Let it Snow. Everyone is welcome to join us with your winter themed creation or anything crafty goes! We have two fabulous prizes this week by Oakwood - a Stampendous stamp and 2 stencils.
As a participant/co-host all you have to do is:
- Write a blog post showcasing your own favorite creation(s) of 2022.
- Schedule to be posted on December 30th.
- Visit the rest of the participants' posts and leave them some love.
- Optional: You may offer a small prize for a winner drawn from those leaving a comment on your post. Absolutely not expected and not necessary to be part of this. Just mentioning it as it was a question last year.

Such a pretty card! I love that sentiment!
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing background, love it. I have decided to join you for your review of the year post xx
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have you join in with the year in review hop!
DeleteBeautiful card and embossing, Ellie! I don't think there's any way to avoid wasting the splatter but I do keep a shallow Amazon box (like what an oversized wall calendar would be shipped in) with the top flaps cut off handy to splatter paint./ink and also spray ink and fixatives on my work. I have several layers of paper towel inside of it to lay my work on. Merry Christmas! XOX
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimeslee. I really need to have a box like this handy. After making this card I told hubby I better never plan on selling my colored pencils and distress inks LOL! As they are now covered in splatter. At least I had the lids on the ink pads!!
DeleteFabulous card Ellie

Fabulous background, sweet card.
ReplyDeletebtw we have got more of that snow, hardly saw the road when drove to the village market;-))m
A fabulous background for your cute snowman image and lovely, frosty design.

Your background is amazing Ellie .. I absolutely love it and it really makes your cute snowman image pop!! I too have the Posca spatter problem … in my case the first time I tried spattering I then spent 20 minutes wiping the residue off my mahogany dining chairs and cabinet (thank God the table was covered !>)😳 I have never managed to master spattering … I find none comes out of the pen for ages and then huge blobs!! My way round this is to randomly dot the pen onto the page, app, ting different pressure to get different size blobs … I have also now got a thicker and a thinner Posca pen ..bthe thin one (1M) draws fine lines and tiny dots (it is whiter than my white gel en) while my original 5M does medium or larger dots 😀 I still occasionally spatter but not often as I can’t stand the mess

My issue is the splatter goes everywhere but not the card. Was thinking that maybe I am holding the pen wrong, but I tried so many different ways. And now I have to replace my posca pen although didn't use very much at all! I may go back to using masking fluid... But that technique needs to planned ahead and can't be done at the end.
DeleteA gorgeous card Ellie - love the two toned background and that wee snowman is a sweetie!

ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Ellie, so festive and what a beautiful background! Thanks so much for joining us a Lost Coast Designs and have a very happy week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful holiday card, Ellie! I just love every detail (as always)! I need to remember to make that background as it really does set off the focal image perfectly. I am no help with splatter technique since I have the exact same problem. I think it's just supposed to be messy. I have watched crafters hitting the pen onto an object like a tool and they seem to get good results. So, let's try it! (I did find a background stamp that looks like splatters as well!) Anyhoo, thank you for playing with us at the MMM Challenge and hope you can join in again soon.
