Winter in the Woods for Four Seasons Challenge - December

It doesn't seem possible that December has arrived, but here we are!! So bundle up for the season and come join us as we are entering the "Winter Months" at Four Seasons challenge! As always, anything goes with the current season in mind (northern hemisphere) but we do have an optional beautiful mood board in case you need a starting point.

As you know I love using a mood board for inspiration and this month I was inspired by the bottom left image which I am sure you can tell :)

I started by inking the sky portion of the card with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink and a touch of Chipped Sapphire Distress ink.
Using a stamp platform I stamped the Trees - Penny Black Gorgeous Grove - using Pumice Stone Distress Oxide ink. I added a bit of brown to the ground (imagine it just began to snow and the ground isn't all covered yet. I had stamped the stag - Stampers Anonymous Winterscape - directly onto the card and colored but the Distress Oxide ink came through so I decided to stamp him again and fussy cut. I stamped with Walnut Stain Distress and used my SU Close to Cocoa ink pad for coloring. (I'm pretty sure this ink color is retired!)

Of course there had to be snowflakes on this woodland scene and I used my white Posca pen to flick some onto the card.
I used a Wonky Stitches die to cut it all out and assembled to the card base. As I was thinking about  where to add a sentiment, I decided to add a die cut pine branch - Penny Black Beautified Baubles die set - inked with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink, tied a bow with some natural jute twine and used a tiny sentiment from Penny Black's set Holiday Snippets to complete the card. I wanted to make it sparkle a bit so I added Stickles glitter to the snow and pine branches. Oh, and I also added a snowflake from Penny Black's die set Dancing Snowflakes.

Remember, the theme is Anything Goes Winter and you have until December 25th to join us!

  2. He's a splendid Stag Ellie and certainly takes centre stage, know just what you mean about oxides showing through sometimes so was really worth the time cutting him out.
