Playing with ink

I treated myself to some new stamps recently, so I decided to get a little inky today. My card has been heavily inspired by creations made by Heather Telford. She does amazing work using Penny Black stamps.

The stamp I used is called "Winter Ledge" by Penny Black. I created the snowy hills background by cutting "hills" freehand and using them as masks. I used an ink applicator tool to apply the ink. (I used distress and SU inks).  I also punched a little circle that I used as a mask for the moon.

The sentiment is from the set "Winter Letter Seals" by Whimsy Stamps. I used one of Whimsy's dies to cut it out, but trimmed a little bit off from the top and bottom of the die cut. The ribbon I  used is night of navy from SU. I sprayed the card with glimmer mist before adhering it to the card base.

I'd like to play along in a few challenges:
Crafty Calendar -  Cold and Frosty
Brown Sugar – Winter
Keep It Simple! -  Anything Goes
Sarah Hurley Challenges -  Create Your Own Background
Loves Rubber Stamps  Anything Goes

Thanks so much for visiting today. Hope you have a fabulous day!!

Favorite 5 Christmas cards of 2013

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday with your family. Mine was good although I was a little under the weather, and hubby had to work Christmas Day until 3.
Kids were super excited as always about Christmas, because they get little surprises left by Christkindl on Christmas Eve, then of course Santa visits us too, so more presents Christmas morning. Had to exchange some things that my son got, because Santa just has no clue what beyblades are and doesn't know the difference between beyblades and beywarriers. LOL. Thanks to the amazing return policies he was able to get what he wanted after all! It was a nice and relaxing Christmas spend with my little family.

Since I don't  have anything new to share right now, I decided to play along in

Here they are in no particular order. If you like to read more about each project, simply click the link above the card.

All these cards were made from September on, so if you are a regular visitor of my blog you might remember seeing  them not so long ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'll be off to visit some of the other linked projects now, to see all the gorgeous Christmas cards out there!

Have a fabulous day everyone, and enjoy the rest of 2013!!

Penny Black and More - Midmonth reminder

There is still a little time left to play along in our December challenge at Penny Black and More. This month we'd like to see your "Traditional Christmas Creations". Like on my first card, I used the colors red green and a little bit gold here too. I added some blue too this time, to go with little frosty.

The snowman and sentiment are both from the set "Holly Jolly" by penny black. The flourish below the red card stock is from the set "Damask Borders" by Flonzcraft.
Added a layered snowflake (whimsy stamps die set), a little button and some gold cord. To finish it off I did some sewing. Of course I had to add glitter too!

Hope you'll join us this month. You don't have to use a Penny Black stamp, you can use any brand, just no digis are allowed. And don't forget you can enter up to 3 times!

WordPlay Saturday - December

Happy Saturday everyone, and thanks for stopping by! Hope you are all having a good weekend! We got snowed in last night and it's still snowing! Had to drive home from work in it. Glad I only live a few blocks away from work and so I didn't have to drive very far. It was very slippery and they hadn't cleared the roads yet. It does look really beautiful outside, maybe we'll take a winter walk in the park later (after baking some Christmas cookies).  I just love winter landscapes! Just don't like driving in them.

It's time for a new "word" for my wordplay saturday challenge, but first I want to thank you all for playing along in my "snowman" challenge last month. It was so much fun seeing all the different snowmen!

That would be Hazel.

Whimsy Inspirations Challenge - Rubber DT Inspiration

Happy Wednesday everyone and thanks so much for visiting! It's time for some Inspiration from the Whimsy Stamps Rubber Design Team for our current Whimsy Inspirations Challenge. There are still about 2 weeks left to play along, don't miss your chance to be entered into the prize drawing. Several Whimsy prizes are up for grabs!

This month it's all about "Partytime". I decided to make a " Christmas Tea-Party" time card, thought this stamp by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps would be perfect for that. And which little girl wouldn't want to have a little tea party with her kitty on Christmas Day?
The image has been stamped onto Copic Xpress Blending card stock, which I finally decided to get, since I almost ran out of Neenah Card Stock. In case anyone is wondering about this card stock, compared with Neenah Card Stock, the ink stays wet longer, which means the markers are easier to blend. I also noticed a lot less bleeding out of the lines, which always annoyed me when using Neenah CS.  The paper is pricy, but I am using it only for my copic coloring, so the 25 sheets I received from Amazon will probably last me some time.

As I do on many of my cards, the image has been cut out using my cutterbee scissors. The bottom part of my background (white) card stock, has been inked using the direct to paper technique and a couple shades of distress inks. Then I stamped the "Christmas Tree in Words" on the right side. I wanted to stamp the girl image before adhering it onto the white card stock, so I could get the steam onto the card that I ended up cutting off. But, as you can see, I forgot to do that before I glued the image on, so now I have no steam. Oh well...

The border on top was made using Whimsy's double scallop border die. I added the two ornaments (seasonal ornaments set) cut out using the ornaments die set and some gold cord.

Products used:
Stamps: Apple Cyder Jubilee, Christmas Tree in Words set, Seasonal Ornaments set (all Whimsy Stamps)
Papers: Copic blending card, SU
Tools: Ornaments die set, double scallop border die (both Whimsy Stamps)
Accessories: gold cord, glitter

You don't have to use a Whimsy Stamps to play along, although if you do you will have an extra chance at being invited as a guest designer for a future challenge.

24 Days of Christmas Event at Whimsy Stamps

Hello everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!
Have you heard yet about the exciting 24 days of Christmas Event we are holding at Whimsy Stamps?

Every day this month until December 24th, one or more of the Design Team members will share a new creation with you on the Whimsy blog, as well as a letter  each day. After you have written down all 24 letters, you will need to unscramble them to make a 4-word phrase and you can email the phrase to Whimsy Stamps to be entered into the grand prize drawing.  That is not all, there will also be some random winners during the month, but we don't know yet which blogs or when they will be chosen from, so to maximize your chances of winning, you should leave comments on both the Whimsy blog and our own personal blogs.

Today is my turn to share some Whimsy Christmas Inspiration with you!  Be sure to visit the Whimsy blog to collect your letter if you'd like to play along in this event.

I had some time to create two cards for today's post.
The first one  uses the gorgeous stamp "Lissy's Little Light", which is from the latest release. Hadn't had a chance yet to use it, so I decided to use it for today's post.

She's been colored using copic markers and then cut out. I found the music sheet paper in my stash, I did use some distress ink along the edge, and stamped one of the "lavish flourishes" stamps in the top left corner. The sentiment is from the set "Holiday Cheer" Thought it would be perfect to use with the image. As you can see, I used the same flourish behind the sentiment too.

Embellished with some ribbon and gold cord, glitter and the diecut "holly and berries" using Whimsy's die.

For my second card I used an older stamp set, illustrated by Crissy Armstrong - Peace on Earth.
This set includes several beautiful images, including a gorgeous angel, and sentiments.  One of my favorite non-cute sets!
The image above has been colored using copic markers. The sentiment is from the set "Holiday Notables 2", and cut out using the Notables 2 die. Embellished with glitter, a clear button and silver cord.

Don't forget to stop by the Whimsy Inspirations Blog to collect your letter, and to leave a comment there too for more chances to win.

Have a great day!

Tiddly Inks - Challenge Time

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks for stopping by! It's time for a new challenge at Tiddly Inks, and  I get to guest design one more time!
I used the brand  new digi - Santa's Helpers- just released about a week ago. Isn't it adorable!!
I colored her up using copic markers.
Kept the card pretty simple to keep the focus on the cute image. I layered it onto some designer paper from Whimsy stamps, it fit my coloring perfectly! Doesn't happen very often, especially if I color the image before choosing the paper.

Both sentiments are part of a set by Craft UK. I used a Whimy Shapeology die to cut out the Ho, Ho, Ho (Notables 2 die).
To finish it off I did a little sewing, added a sowflake (Whimsy's layered snowflake die), and a clear button with some silver cord. Also added a sticky rhinestone between the two sentiments.

Entering this into a few other challenges too:
Lexi's Creations  Christmas
Paper Playtime -  Anything Goes
Stamp and Create -  Anything Goes
There She Goes - W - Christmas Critters

Have a great day!!

Penny Black and More - December Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone and Happy December! I can see the Holidays are sneaking up on us again! Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I am happy to say I am just about done shopping, got almost everything before Black Friday ( I try to avoid the crowds on those busy days and refuse to shop on Thanksgiving Day - although I personally had to work). Just one more item needed from the American Girl store.I will get that when we go to Chicago next week, then all that's left is the wrapping.
Now getting Christmas cards mailed out, that is a whole other issue for me, I always wait until the last minute, so lets see, maybe I can start a new tradition and actually mail them out before the 15th this year...

We have a fun challenge this month at Penny Black and More.

Traditional Christmas Colors.

For me that would be red, green and gold. I used a cute stamp from the clear set "Holly Jolly" from Penny Black of course.
I stamped a border around the image using a stamp from Flonz Craft (Damask Baroque Border set). Lots of fabulous borders are included in this set, and it is very reasonably priced too.

The sentiment is from a set by Craft UK. I used some older designer paper in the background. Finished the card off by sewing, added some glitter and gold cord, and a star shaped button that I had forever!

Be sure to stop by the Penny Black and More challenge blog to see the rest of the creations. You won't be disappointed! And maybe you'd like to play along too! We have several fabulous sponsors this month - Penny Black, Classy Crafts, FlonzCraft, Stix2, Nicecrane for several chances to win!
You don't need to use a Penny Black stamp, feel free to use any make clear or rubber stamp, just no digis please, and the main image has to be stamped or be a Penny Black Stickeroo!

Would love to play along in a few other challenges too:

A Creative Need - November - Ribbons or Buttons
 Annabelle Stamps Challenge - Christmas
Stampin' For The Weekend -  Feeling Festive
Stempelsonnen Challenge -  Merry Christmas
