Getting Sentimental for Allsorts Challenge

Hello and welcome! It's Saturday again and that means a new challenge starts today at Allsorts. It's Brenda's turn to host and her theme for this week is "Getting Sentimental" meaning she would like to see any sort of sentiment along with the option of "Anything Goes" if you choose not to use a sentiment on your project. Our prize is a selection of Woodware sentiment stamps from Craft Stash.

And here is what I came up with using stamps from Penny Black.

The daisies are part of the stamp Daisy Dream, they are actually a bouquet of daisies inside a vase but for today's card I just used the daisies, stamped with Versafine Onyx ink and colored with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. The sentiment is part of the clear set Love Big, as mentioned, both by Penny Black. I used the negative of a rectangle die to ink up the inside of the rectangle with Spun Sugar ink. My inkpad or foam applicator is a bit "contaminated" with a darker pink so it's not as light as I wanted it to be but it turned out to be a good match for the daisies. I added Stickles glitter to the flower centers and embellished with die cut butterflies done with Penny Black's Soaring die set.

Woodblock Wednesday With My Newest Old Stamp

Hello and welcome! I actually found some time today to make a card "just for fun" as I recently purchased a new to me woodblock stamp and I thought this was a great reason to join the Woodblock Wednesday challenge today (before I stash it away with my other woodblock stamps)!

I came across this Penny Black cutie (854J Forest Friends Seesaw) recently on eBay for a reasonable price and had to "Buy It Now"!! This stamp was released in 1995 when I was a teenager and had no idea cardmaking and decorative rubber stamps were a thing. So this stamp is definitely one of my oldest stamps although I do have some PSX stamps also purchased on eBay which could be the same age or older. There is just something so special about wood mounted stamps so I am still adding them to my collection.

I stamped on Bristol Vellum paper and used my Zig Clean Color markers for coloring. Then I used a torn paper mask to add some snow banks around the image. On the top portion I used another wood mounted stamp which also happens to be from 1995 (PSX F1550) stamped with the same ink that I used for the snowbanks - Weathered Wood Distress ink.

The wording on the bottom is part of the Penny Black background stamps Christmas Story. Snowflakes are from my box of exta die cuts. I added some candy dots to their centers. It's hard to see but I added some sparkles using a clear Sakura Stardust glitter pen.

If Cats Could Talk..........

Hello everyone, a new challenge starts today at the Allsorts challenge blog and Lolo is hosting this week with her wonderful theme of "Delightful Animals". As always, if this theme isn't for you then there is the Anything Goes option as we'd love to see all your crafty makes (up to 3 per entrant). We are back to regular weekly challenges so you have until early Friday to link up with us. Prizes for this week are from AALL and Create.

Here is what I came up with:

The cat image panel is part of a very large stamp by Aall and Create - Night Stalker (unfortunately it appears to be a retired set but if you are in the US there are currently 3 available at Frantic Stamper). When I ordered this set I didn't realize how large it acutally is so I cropped part of the image off in order to make a 6x6 inch card.

The pretty flowers are from another set by Aall and Create - Flower Journey. This set is currently marked down at Aall and Create (low stock!!) as I believe they are retiring all remaining Tracy Evans stamps.

I found this background in my box of previously made backgrounds where I used Lavinia's Feather Leaf stencil with some pale green ink and splashes of yellow distress ink. The wording I used on this card is part of another stamp from the same Night Stalker set.

I Spy With My Little Eye ....... Something From the Garden (Challenge No. 18)

Hello and welcome to a new "I spy with my little eye" challenge taking place right here on my blog! Pauline and I are back with a new theme and we hope you'll join in the fun! We had some fabulous entries last month, thank you all so much for joining us! Be sure to scroll down to the end to see who made our top 2, both which will have the option to join us for our next challenge.

This time it was my turn (Ellie) to select a theme and it is................

I spy with my little eye..........

something from the garden.

What can you find in your garden? Flowers, fruits or veggies, maybe a garden gnome, how about a fairy or some garden tools? Lots of options I think and we can't wait to see what you'll come up with. The linky tool is at the end of this post.

Below are our shares and we hope to inspire you to join us this month.

This cute image is by Colorado Craft Company from the set  Veggie Stack. I colored with Copic markers then fussy cut. There is a matching die set for this but I don't usually purchase them as I don't mind fussy cutting. Whenever I color with copics I feel like making a CAS card and that is what I did here too. I used an embossing folder by Spellbinders for a textured background and then cut out a circle  for more interest. Lavinia's Feather Leaf stencil was used inside the circle aperture. The sentiment is part of the same set. I added a die cut butterfly (Penny Black Soaring die) to finish it off.

Challenge I'd like to share the above card with:

What a delightful card so perfect for the garden theme! To find out how Pauline made this card please visit her blog.

Summer Days (and showing the mistake from recent beach card)

Happy Saturday! It's time for my new Allsorts challenge card share and since several of my blog readers wondered what the mistake was that my dear hubby fixed for me (on one of my last Allsorts challenge cards) I decided to show you the original card LOL. But first let's talk about the new Allsorts challenge, it's Sarah's turn to host and her optional theme is "Summer Days". This is another 2 week challenge for the summer. If you are done with summer crafting then please do share all your other new crafty makes (Anything Goes) for a total of 3 entries. We have Prizes from Stampendous, two beautiful stamps and one set of stamps.

For my card today I used the beautiful palm trees from Just for Fun Rubberstamps. I'm not sure what happened to the company but it appears that they are no longer in business. I used to be on their design team many years ago.

I started out by inking up the sky, masking off the bottom third. I used Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress inks/oxides. When this was finished I used Black Soot to ink up the bottom portion. The trees, boat and birds (both from a retired Hero Arts stamp kit) were stamped using Versafine Onyx ink. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz's Tiny Text sentiment set. I also used a MFT cloud stencil for a few clouds.

Ok, so now here I am sharing one of the card I had made for the last Allsorts challenge which my husband decided to fix for me or it would have ended up in the recycling bin.

I won't be offended if you laugh, I can't believe I didn't notice how wrong everything was until I uploaded it to the computer.

As you can see, the proportions are so off and the palm tree looks like it's growing right through the girl who seems to be sitting by a small wave (without water!!!) in the middle of the sand collecting a sea shell. So wrong LOL!!

Above my husband first used white paint (gesso?) to cover up part of the tree trunks and the bottom portion of the sand, then used his watercolor pallet paints to add a little more water in that area as well as sand to where the tree tunks used to be. And that is how this project could be saved :)

Thanks so much for visiting!

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - August Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to the August edition of Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday challenge where you are invited to link up all your crafty makes!

There were so many fabulous creations shared during the months of June and July, thank you all so much and be sure to scroll down to see who made the Top Picks with a Twist. As the challenge ran for 2 months, there are 2 sets of top picks with a twist, so 6 creations in total.

As most of you know, the theme is now always ....

Anything Goes

and instead of a challenge theme there will be a "Top Pick Twist", meaning I will select a twist from all of the entries for the Top 3. Nobody will know what the twist will be (not even me) until the end of the challenge. So do link up all of your crafty makes, your entry might be the one inspiring the Top Pick twist :)

And here is what I made for this month:

It's been a little while since I made a cute card so I decided to ink up this cute Penny Black stamp for this month's card. I used Copic colors for coloring and then fussy cut the image. I wanted to work with an inky (brushos) background but somehow I just couldn't make it work which left me with a few "extras" of inky backgrounds. After struggling for some time (somehow this seems to happen a lot to me recently 😄) I decided to make a CAS card with some of my favorites that always seem to work out - Lavinia's Feather Leaf stencil and Whimsy Stamps script border (retired).

I rounded the bottom corners, added the sentiment (Penny Black Sweet Wishes), some staples and the cute butterfly (Penny Black Soaring die set) to finish off the card.

Wild Poppies Silhouette: Four Seasons August Challenge

Happy August, not sure how we are already in the last full month of summer but here we are, and it is also the last month of summer creations at the Four Seasons challenge blog for this year. We have a wonderful new (optional) mood board to inspire you and hope to see you joining us!

I was inspired by the beautiful Poppy for my card, although I wish I had used a bit brighter colors for more of a summer-y feel.

I started out with the negative of a circle die cut and inked with Distress inks/oxides. Wish I remembered which exact colors I used. I tried working ahead here but didn't actually write up the post after I was finished with the card, something I really need to work on! In any event, I used some red inks for the most part and added either black soot or hickory smoke to the bottom left of the circle.

Luckily I do remember which stamps I used, it is the beautiful Wild Poppies stamp from Lavinia and the sentiment is from the Penny Black set Blooming Sentiments. I used a white Sakura gel pen for some details and added a tiny butterfly done with Penny Black's die Soaring. I layered the white butterfly onto a black butterfly to create a shadow and finished off with some black enamel dots. The red background paper was done with the same red inks.
