Papercrafters Year in Review 2024 Blog Hop and Linky Party - Come Join Us!!!

Happy Monday and welcome!

Today a group of crafters and I are hosting a blog hop where we share our favorite creations of 2024, the Papercrafters Year in Review hop. We hope you'll hop along with us and you are invited to create your own Year in Review post and then link up with us. We would love to see YOUR favorite creations of 2024 too!! You can choose a monthly favorite, or a Top 10, Top 5, favorite Christmas cards of 2024 etc. - it's is all up to you. The most important thing to remember is, that these have to be selected from your own creations, not favorites you found online.

The linky tool is at the end of this post and you may also find it on most of the co-hosts blogs. It will stay open until January 5th 11:59pm Central time.

I am always excited to look back at my creations of the year as I do tend to forget what cards I made and I am always curious to see which one of my creations makes this list :) As it's always hard for me to choose, I usually select one favorite card per month and that is what I did this year too (or at least I tried to stick with one). I linked back to the original posts in case you want to find out more about each project.

Silhouette stamps seem to have been a favorite and I loved getting inky. Happy to still see some "cute" cards among my favorites although I feel like I haven't made as many this past year and they used to be my favorites to make once upon a time. I'm surprised to see a couple of cards with dies as focal points made my favorites list this year :)  Although have to admit I only made 4 cards in December so that month wasn't easy to choose, however I so love that cute die set!! Maybe I'll try it with a different color scheme next time.

Soooo, which one of my Top Picks of 2024 is your favorite? I would love to hear from you! If I had to choose from just these 13 cards, I would have to say February is my most favorite closely followed by January's winter scene.

Below is this year's hop list or simply visit the linky tool for the direct links. We would absolutely love to have you hop along with us.

Fun with Dies

Happy Saturday, it's time for a new challenge at Allsorts. This is our last challenge of the year and as a reminder - starting today all of our challenges will run for two weeks!!

This week Sarah is hosting and she chose the theme of "Use Your Dies". As always there is the Anything Goes option. This week we have 3 prizes of Oakwood dies and coordinating stamps.

Here is what I came up with using a new to me die set from Penny Black called Mitten Stocking

Most pieces on the mitten (including the mitten) are part of the die set, only the snowflake is part of Penny Black's Dancing Snowflakes die set. I layered the mitten onto Penny Black's Polaroid Die cut. On the white background I used Penny Black's background stamp Christmas Story. The kraft paper was embossed using an old Sizzix embossing folder. I embellished with a little "button" snowflake and twine and some Frosted Lace stickles glitter.

Lots of White

Hello everyone! I'm back from a 10 day overseas trip to visit my family in Germany. It was my first time in over 25 years to fly alone, the thought of it stressed me out but as my dad doesn't want to travel this far anymore I decided to give it a try. Happy to report that all went really well and I had a wonderful time visiting with my family and it was great to be there during Advent season to visit some Christmas markets too :)

This week it's my turn to host at Allsorts challenge I chose the optional theme of "Lots of  White". As always there is the Anything Goes option too. We have prizes from Aall and Create

For my card I decided to use the beautiful Penny Black die Deer in Tree. I used brushed silver cardstock which was part of a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit from a few years ago for the die cut. The background was embossed using and old Cuttlebug embossing folder. Sentiment is from a clear set by Flourishes purchased from eBay a few years ago.

A quick and simple card to make but I like how it turned out.

I plan to share with these challenges:

I did take lots of pictures while overseas but most include family or strangers around town so I am only sharing a couple of pictures of closeby towns I went sightseeing at and visited the Christmas markets in these towns too as they are all in the "old town" pedestrian areas we walked through, and enjoyed some Glühwein (hot mulled wine) at dusk - the only wine I like. Each town was so pretty all lit up for the festive season.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Another Saturday is here (and another scheduled post from me), and it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Lynn is hosting this week and her theme is ... "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas". Of course as always there is the Anything Goes option too for those maybe done with Christmas makes or maybe you celebrate another holiday instead. We welcome all your new crafty makes (up to 3 per person). Our prizes come from AALL and Create, there will be 2 prizes this week.

Here is what I made:

I decided to use this cute stamp from Penny Black from the set Gather Around. I colored with Zig Clean Color markers. I wanted to use some non-traditional colors this time so I incorporated navy and I found this pretty navy patterned paper that came as part of a Scrapbook Customs  paper pack.

After coloring the image I inked the edges and stamped the little snowflake on the background which is part of the same stamp set. The sentiment strip on the bottom of the card is the pattern on the other side of the patterned paper (double sided designer paper) so I decided to simply cut a strip and use it for the sentiment part of the card. Some gold cord and a bow finish off the card. I did use a Wink of Stella brush on the ornaments and star but it doesn't show up too well.

Four Seasons December Challenge - When Snow Falls...

Hello and welcome! It's hard to believe but December has arrived and we are switching seasons at the Four Seasons challenge blog. Winter has arrived over there and we are showcasing all things winter for the next 3 months. I do hope this post will go live as scheduled as I am currently on a blogging break until the 10th.

Our mood board for December is below but as always, it is only for inspiration and you may share anything winter related.

Here is what I made:

The mood board inspired me to use the Christmas Cottage stamp by Penny Black and I was also inspired by the overall color scheme of the mood board and created this snowy card.

The sky and snow banks were inked with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink and I used a white Posca pen for some splatter. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set When Snow Falls and die cut snowflakes are from the Penny Black die set Dancing Snowflakes
Stickles glitter was applied for some sparkle.

Winter Flora and/or Fauna at Allsorts Challenge

Hello everyone, I am on a blogging break for the next 2 weeks so this and the following few are scheduled posts, hopefully everything will post as planned.

Allsorts challenge new theme is Anything Goes or Winter Flora and/or Fauna. Prizes for this week are 2 stamp sets from  AALL and Create

Here is what I made:

The focal point is a stamp by Penny Black Holly Berry Bird, colored with Distress Watercolor crayons. Unfortunately I colored out of the line a bit. I have two sets of these watercolor crayons but haven't used them much. Sometimes I think I want to add more sets but other times I feel like I like coloring with the ink pads more. If you have these, how do you like them?

Related Products:

After coloring the image I stamped Penny Black's Christmas Story on the bottom portion and added the die cut berries branch. The edges were sewed and distressed. I added the little tag and sentiment for some interest. The tag is part of an Avery Elle die set (I think Wonky Stitches die set) and sentiment from Penny Black's Holiday Snippets set. The little snowflake I added is part of Penny Black's Dancing Snowflakes die set.

A Christmas Blessing

Hello and happy Saturday! A new theme starts today at Allsorts challenge and Liz is hosting this week. Her optional theme is Ribbon or Twine and of course there is always the Anything Goes option too. Our prize is a Sizzix die set from Craft Stash. As a reminder, all November prize winners will be announced on November 29th and there just might be a few surprise Christmas gifts for our lovely entrants so you may want to mark your calendars.

Here is what I made:

I started by stamping the bird from the Aall and Create set Robin and Nuthatch then colored with Zig Clean Color markers. Next I used a piece of acetate to add diluted Distress Oxide ink (Pine Needles) onto the background. The pine branches are from Penny Black's die set Ornamental Branch, cut out and inked using the same Pine Needles ink. Sentiment is also by Penny Black from the set Festive Cheer. I added red ribbon and bow made of golden cord. A few red rhinestones finish off the card.

Hello everyone and welcome to a new I Spy With My Little Eye challenge taking place right here on my blog! Pauline and I are back with a new theme and we hope you'll come join in the fun!

Before I get to that, I wanted to let you know that we are taking a break over the holidays so there won't be a challenge in December. This challenge runs as usual and will end on Sunday December 15th, but the Top Picks won't be announced until the January challenge.

I do want to invite you to join in this year's Papercrafters Year in Review hop (where we share our own favorites of the year) which will happen at the end of the year. You can read all the details here.

This month it's Pauline's turn to host and she picked the theme of...............

The background was done using a Cuttlebug embossing folder I've had for ages. I used Rustic Wilderness ink to ink the "debossing" part of the folder before running it through the Big Shot machine. "Merry Christmas" die is by Penny Black -Ornamental Branch, I adhered the die cut onto a strip of red shimmer paper then added this to the embossed piece. The image is part of the Penny Black set Scarved Cuties, colored with Zig Clean Color markers and fussy cut. The extra present is part of the set. I embellished with some sequin ribbon and a little bow. Frosted Lace Stickles glitter was applied to the hat.

Love and Adoration

Hello and welcome! It's Saturday again and that means it's time for my Allsorts card share. This week Gail is our host and for her optional theme she selected Food and/or Drink. Of course you are welcome to share all your other crafty makes (up to 3 per entrant) for our Anything Goes option. So please do join us for your chance to win. We have two beautiful Card-io stamp sets to give away.

And here is what I made:

I originally wanted to use an old PSX grapes and wine stamp but I found that the rubber completely hardened and I was unable to use it. Now to find a way to soften it up so I can use it again!! My second choice was this cute stamp from the Penny Black set Love & Happiness. I stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I inked the edges with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo ink. On the background I used the Aall and Create mini set Define Love (sold out from the A&C site but should be available through some of their retailers). Then I used patterned paper scraps from my stash to add to the top left and bottom right. Still thought it needed something else so I got my sewing machine out and stitched around the edges. A button and jute twine finish it off. I also added stickles glitter to the roses and bubbles inside the glasses, better seen in the photo above.
