Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - December Midmonth

We're almost half way through December (can you believe it!!!) and since it's a Wednesday I decided to share another card for this month's Crafty Wednesday Challenge here on my blog. If you are here to join in, you can find the linky tool at the end of this post, as I have moved it from the original December post.

As a reminder, the December theme at Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday is:

Snowflakes, Snowmen or a Winter Wonderland.

I had some "play time" with my new distress oxides and this is what I came up with. I've also made some other CAS cards which I will show within a week or two :-)

To make my card I first taped off the edges of my square card front using some washi tape. Next I stamped the snowflakes from the set Holiday Snippets by Penny Black using Versamark ink and then heat embossed with detail white embossing powder. Next I inked up the background with Blueprint Sketch and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxides and spritzed with water. The ink reacted to the water creating some interest on the background. By the way, as almost always, I used Bristol Vellum paper for my card front. I love how easy the inks are blending on this card stock, and it takes on watercolors well too, so it's my go-to paper for almost all techniques that don't require copic coloring. I do almost always end up heat embossing anything stamped in black ink because it stays wet longer and I don't want the ink to smear.
Next I stamped one of the large sentiments from the Holiday Snippets set using the same colors of distress oxides, and finished off with the other large sentiment from this set, this time I stamped with Versafine Onyx ink and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder over it. Some sticky Rhinestones finish off the card. For my base I used Neenah linen textured card stock. The complete card measures approx. 4.45 inches square.

As a reminder, this month I am giving away a gift certificate to Mo Manning's shop (sponsored by me).

Allsorts 497: Christmas Flowers

Hello and Welcome!

It's Saturday again and that means a new theme has been posted to the Allsorts challenge blog. Mervi's turn to host and she picked the theme of Christmas Flowers. Once again we have a wonder prize to give away!

I was decluttering my craft room and came across this old Stampin Up wheel (anyone remember those?) and decided to use it for today's card.

I finally purchased a few Distress Oxide ink pads when Scrapbook.com had a sale a couple of weeks ago. They still have them at a great price if you are interested in single pads, otherwise Amazon has  great deals on sets of 12, including the newest set released a few months ago.

I created ink puddles on my craft mat with Abandoned Coral and Bundled Sage Oxides and patted the paper onto the puddles to create the background.
I've always had trouble getting the Stampin Up wheels to ink up  and roll properly, no different here and I am actually thinking about unmounting the few wheels I have so I can use them as traditional stamps.

I once again used the Christmas Story (Penny Black) background stamp and Bundled Sage distress oxide to add some words to the background. The single poinsettia was fussy cut from the same stamp wheel and I added Sticky Rhinestones to the flower center. Added a little bit of a border by wiping the ink pad directly along the edges, then mounted onto Stampin Up card stock. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set  Season's Gifts.

Poinsettia Stamp Options   (I used Stampin Up's retired Stamp Wheel)

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - December Challenge

Hello and Welcome to the December Crafty Wednesday Challenge here on my blog. It's time for a new theme and hope many of you will join in this time. There were some gorgeous entries last month, be sure to scroll down to see if you are the winner or one of the Top Picks!

This Month's Theme:

Snowflakes, Snowmen or a Winter Wonderland

So pretty much anything with Snow, and I can't wait to see what you come up with this time.

This was a really quick card to make. I simply heat embossed the snowman and sentiment both from the Penny Black Set  Let It Snow using Versafine Onyx ink and Clear Embossing Powder. Added a little bit of color with a Zig Clean Color marker (light blue, available in this set of 4) and a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush was used for some sparkles on the snowman (this is really hard to see). I stamped 3 snowflakes which is part of the set and added sticky back rhinestones to each of the snowflake's centers. Designer paper is from my stash, I think it's by Authentique. Silk Ribbon and a bow finish off this card.

Hero Arts My Monthly Hero - December Kit

Happy Monday!

I have no new card to share today, but today is the release of the Hero Arts December My Monthly Hero Kit. Last month the kit has sold out within a day of release (I know, that's crazy!!) and so I decided to post a quick note about the release in case some of my blog readers are interested in purchasing it before it becomes unavailable.

Take a look at this beautiful kit!

Click HERE to get your kit, and don't forget orders totalling up at least $50 will get FREE SHIPPING (USA Only). Some really wonderful add-ons have been released as well! Hero Arts does ship internationally too, but shipping cost does apply.

As some of you know, I am a Kit Subcriber, meaning my kit will automatically be sent to me at release time withouth having to order it, and with the subscription I get free shipping too (even when I just get the kit at $34.99). I love the subscription service, but just so you know, if you subscribe now, your subscription would start with the January kit, and not with the current kit. So if this December  kit is a kit you really want to get, you will have to purchase it through the regular ordering in the shop.

Happy Stamping!!

Please note, affiliate links have been used. This means I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through my links, at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for your support!
Also, I do not design for Hero Arts, all products featured on my blog are purchased at full prize (unless noted otherwise) and all opinions are my own.
