Word Play Weekend #11

Hello and welcome to another challenge here at Word Play Weekend!
I hope you are enjoying your last weekend in July and have some fun things planned too!

My son finally seems to be recovering from his tonsillectomy. He ended up having some bleeding when the scabs came off and it was very scary. But we did what the doctor told us and were able to stop the bleeding after a few minutes. And now he is finally able to eat more things again!

This week the "word" I chose is

Sparkle.

And I finally found some time to create my own card.
I wanted to use an image from Cuddly Buddly so I could combine it with the Cuddly Buddly Challenge.

Products used:
Stamps: digi-Wee Stamps, sentiment - Stampin Up
Papers: Stampin Up bashful blue, Neenah white, Designer Paper from stash
Ink: memento tuxedo black, bashful blue for sponging
Accessories: grosgrain ribbon, dazzling diamonds glitter, sticky pearls
Colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil.

Challenges this is being applied to:

Now onto the winner from the last two week's entries.
Thank you everyone for sharing your "Wild Animal" creations with me. Lots of fun things everyone made.

Here is my pick of the week.

What a fun card! Love the text she used for it!!

Thank you so much for sharing Diane.
Feel free to grab your "featured card" logo to place on your side bar.

To play along in this week's challenge simply link your card below. Feel free to use any of your stamps or digis, the only rule is that it has to be a new card. No backlinking to older projects.

Gardens with things with wings

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!

I hope you are enjoying your summer, it's been unbearably hot over here in Illinois, but thanks to central air we didn't really have to deal with it! (I mean I didn't have to deal with it, hubby had to work in it!) I know my family over in Germany is complaining about the cold weather over there, but I really wish we had some of those days here...but then again, it's going to be fall before we know it....

Now onto my card for this week, it's a super simple one as my time is pretty limited right now while my son is still recovering from his surgery.

I simply used 3 paper scraps, adhered and sewed them onto a white card front. Then added the image with pop dots and added the sentiment. I colored the image with derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil. Sentiment is from SU. I embellished with a button and silver cord, added some stickles and sewed the papers.

My image is one of the first ones that I bought from Meljen's Designs, toadstool buggies. It is available for purchase at Whimsy Stamps, and don't forget, there are only a few more days left to take advantage of the digital stamps sale at Whimsy (25% off until the end of the month!).

We have a brand new sponsor with us this week,

Glitterbabe digis,

LET\

giving away a fabulous prize to one lucky randomly chosen winner! I hope you'll join us at digital tuesday in the challenge for a chance to win! To play along simply click the digital tuesday logo in my side bar.

I'd like to also enter my card to this week's Paper Sundae's with the theme of beachy or summer, and while it is not beach themed, I do think it is very summery. Also Summertime theme at Craft Your Days Away, so I am entering it there as well, and Summer is also the theme at Fussy and Fancy. At Phindy’s Place the challenge is doubling up, and there are 2 mushrooms, 2 bees and two ladybugs in my image, and of course I wouldn't mind winning a Phindy's Prize so I am entering it there too. And last but not least, Stamp Something wants to see something embellished.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------ --

Before I let you go, I'd like to let you all know that Whimsy Stamps is starting a new challenge blog" Whimsy Inspirations Challenge"

and

We need your help....

We would love you to help us spread the word and tell your friends we are here. Please grab the badge above to add to your sidebars. Of course there is an incentive ;-)

What do you have to do to win?
Grab the Badge, Tell your Friends that there will be a new challenge starting here on Wednesday 10th August and leave a link to your blog on the inspirations challenge blog... Simple! Everyone who follows these 3 simple steps will be entered into our draw to win a mystery prize. The winner will be announced right here on the 10th August on the first Challenge day!

Have a great day!!

Penny Black Challenge - Summer

For Word Play Weekend Challenge please click here.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!
I didn't think I was going to find some time to make any cards while my son is recovering from his tonsillectomy, but he was able to fall asleep around before 9 last night and I already had this image colored and ideas in my head for this card so I thought I'd play along in the Penny Black Challenge of the week, which is "Summer". The challenge can be found right on the Penny Black Blog "Thinking with Stamps".

I've been wanting to get a few of the non-cute Penny Black stamps and this is one I actually found at Hobby Lobby and got it for 40% off. It is called "Mixed Media".

Here is my card.
I colored the image with copic markers and used the direct to paper technique using a pink ink pad. Then distressed the edges. I didn't have any gold cord so I went to pick some up at my local craft store, then came across the Martha Stewart Butterflies on clearance and thought they would be good to use for this card. Wish I picked up two packages, they are so beautiful. I did place the two black brads to the butterfy's body, maybe I should have left it all gold though...
The sentiment is from an old Stampin up set.
Thanks again for stopping by!
Enjoy your weekend!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you are having a good week so far.

I had so much fun with this sketch, thanks so much Natascha.

This week we are being sponsored by
Spesch Designer Stamps

Badge

and the owner Tracey allowed us to choose one digi each for our designs. I chose Spring Ladybug by Star. It's so beautiful and was so much fun to color.

Here is my card.

Products used:
Stamps: digi - Spesch stamps (Spring Ladybug by Star), rubber - Whimsy Stamps ( everyday mini postage stamps)
Papers: My minds eye 6x6 pack, Stampin up Prints celery, Neenah white card stock, Stampin up green galore (retired)
Accessories: brads, ribbon, glitter
Tools: Martha Stewart border punch, Stampin up circle punches, ticket corner and small oval punch, janome sewing machine mini

Here is a closeup of the beautiful image.

I am entering my card to this week's Cute card thursday challenge with the theme of circles and Fussy and Fancy's challenge theme is Summer (and I do think that the image is very summery even though it's called "spring ladybug) so I am entering it there too.

I hope you'll join us this week, as there is a fabulous prize up for grabs from Spesch designer stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great week!

Word Play Weekend #10 - Wild Animals

Happy weekend everyone and welcome to another word play weekend challenge.

Before I get to the challenge I wanted to let you know that this week's challenge is running for 2 weeks due to some things going on next week and I am not sure if I will be able to get any card making or blogging done. And whatever is being posted here next week will be most likely scheduled. Now onto the challenge...

This week's words are:

I used one of Crissy Armstrong's new digis, available at Whimsy Stamps.

Oh, and another quick note, Crissy Armstrong is having a Design Team Call for her challenge blog Sundays with Crissy
If you like her designs and would like to apply you can click the link above to find out how. I love her work, but won't be applying, since life is so busy, at least at the moment, plus I already get to work with some of her goodies through Whimsy Stamps.

New Penny Black goodies and a card

Hello everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!

Since my birthday is coming up I decided to treat myself to a few new goodies from Penny Black. I have been wanting to get some of these for quite some time now, but my somewhat local stamping store never did get them in and now they closed their doors for good :-(
I've been hearing only good things about the company PB stamps and finally decided to place an order.
What a great company, and fantastic costumer service!! I received them FAST, just 3 days after ordering, plus I was able to keep a set that was accidentally sent to me instead of another one, and I received the correct one the next day! They have the best selection of Penny Black stamps, awesome prices best shipping options! I will surely be back!!

Here are my new goodies.

And here is a card I made for this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge, with the theme of "Christmas in July". The stamp is from the set "Holly Jolly".

It's a simple card, I colored the image with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil. I applied some glassy glaze to the glas ornaments and diamond dust stickles glitter to the star. The edges were sponged with old olive ink and then I sewed around the edges. Sentiment is from a retired stampin up set. Designer Paper is also Stampin Up (retired).

Besides Penny Black saturday challenge I am also entering this card to the following challenges: Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenges - Christmas In July , Use It Tuesdays - 2W - Animals, Happileigh Scrappin - Critters, KB Cute Monday - Something Cute, Bah Humbug - Must be Christmas - mouse, Craft Us Crazy - Christmas in July and/or distressed/vintage, Moving Along With The Times - Christmas in July.

Oh, and before I leave I'd like to remind you all that this month's

Penny Black at All sorts Challenge

Add our logo to your blog

is still going on. Plus the theme is super easy and lots of prizes to be won.
Here is of what is up for grabs this month.

The theme is "Flower Power" and you can enter up to 3 times!!! You may combine your project with other challenges, the only rule is that the main image is a Penny Black Stamp or Stickeroo.

Have a great day everyone!!

Cuddly Buddly meets Digital Tuesday

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you're all having a great day!

It is time for a new challenge over at Digital Tuesday and this week it is Michelle's turn to host. The theme she chose is

Spellbound

which means, use your dies. Spellbinders or other, use at least one die in your design.

I wanted to combine my card with this week's Cuddly Buddly Challenge with the theme of

Flowers and Lace

so I used a Cuddly Buddly/Wee Stamps image for my card.

I just love this digi by Sylvia Zet available either at Cuddly Buddly or Wee Stamps blog.
It has been colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil. Papers are from Bo Bunny and Stampin Up, Card stock is Neenah and Bazzill.

I embellished with some prima flowers and buttons, lace and of course glitter. In the top left corner I used a cuttlebug die shape. Then distressed all edges and did some sewing. Sentiment is from Stampin Up.

And that is all for today. Hope you'll join us this week at digital tuesday, we have a brand new sponsor with us,
Bonibleaux designs,

giving away a $10 gift certificate to one lucky randomly chosen winner. They have a fabulous selection of fun digis, perfect for those hard to make masculine cards.

Have a great day everyone!

Christmas in July for Word Play Weekend #9

Happy Weekend everyone and welcome to another Word Play Weekend challenge.

This week's word is actually two words LOL

Christmas/Winter

I always start sometimes in July with christmas cards. Because if I don't I get stressed out once it's time to mail them. I hope you'll join me in this challenge.

Here is my card.

While I absolutely love this stamp from Lili of the Valley, I was totally uninspired by the designer papers I had. So... I went the easy route and used non. I just used my swiss dots embossing folder to add some texture.

Products used:

Stamps: Lili of the Valley woodland christmas, Stampin up sentiment
Paper: Bazzill, Neenah
Accessories: white grosgrain ribbon, stickles glitter
Tools: Derwent coloursoft pencils, baby oil for blending, Cuttlebug embossing folder (swiss dots), large oval punch (Stampin Up)

I'd like to combine the following challenges:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now it is time for last week's featured card. Thank you to everyone that shared their creations with me last week! Here is my favorite card from the entries:

Congrats on making the "Card of the Week". Feel free to grab the logo below to place on your side bar!

To play along simply link your new creation below. Feel free to use any of your products and combine with any challenges you like. The only rules I have is that your project is something new and that you use the week's word either as the picture of part of your sentiment.

A clean and simple sunflower card

For Word Play Weekend Challenge please click here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Here is a card I made using one of Meljen's older digistamps, I just love this sunflower and it was soooo much fun to color with copics. I have much trouble using copics with people or animals (need lots of practice) but I just love coloring flowers with them.

The digi is available here at Whimsy Stamps. Oh, and Whimsy Stamps has all digis on sale right now for 25% off until the end of the month (excluding custom digis).

To make this card I printed the image out twice, cut out part of the bloom and the leave, and then adhered them with dimensionals.

The designer paper is from basic grey (lemonade?). Card stock is Neenah (white) and Stampin up (olive). It's a pretty simple card as I am going to enter this to this week's Meljen's challenge with the theme of no more than 2 layers (not counting my image and card front here - hope that's ok).

Please excuse my terrible sewing, I had a hard time sewing around the rounded corners.
The sentiment is from Stampin up, and I added a little bit of ribbon to it. There is also a little bit of dazzling diamonds glitter on the bee's wings.

Here are the challenges I am combining:

Thanks so much for visiting!
Have a great day!!

Digital Tuesday Challenge- bling it up

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone and thanks so much for visiting! I have a new card to share today for this week's Digital Tuesday Challenge.
Our Theme this week was chosen by the lovely Maria, and she would like us to
Bling it up.

Here is what I created.

We are being sponsored by Paper Fashions, etc, and the Design Team was given some button cards to play with. I had no idea what exactly a button card is, then after looking at some amazing samples on their blog, I had this idea to create a vintage style card and use a button card on it.
The image of the girl was a freebie that I picked up at Tina46's blog. She has the most amazing vintage cards on her blog and lots of beautiful free vintage pictures too.

I am combining this with the following challenges:
That should be it for this card. I hope you'll play along with us this week for a chance at a fabulous prize from Paper Fashion etc.

Products used:
  • Stamps: digi-Paper fashion button card, freebie girl photo -links are posted above, sentiment SU
  • Papers: Stampin up, designer paper from stash, neenah white card stock, paper lace doily
  • Embellishments: Prima flowers, clear sticky rhinestones, buttons, silver cord, lace
  • Tools: janome sew mini, oval punch, scissors for distressing

Have a great day!!

Mo Manning facebook contest

For Word Play Weekend Challenge please click here.

For Whimsy Stamps Digi blog hop please click here

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by. I just have a quick card to show you that I made over the weekend. I almost forgot to post it on my blog. It was for a contest that Mo Manning was having on facebook so I posted it there and forgot about my blog.

The other day she posted little Trudy paper doll and her party dress as a freebie on her facebook page, and wanted us to create a dress for her and use it either as a paper doll, on a card, scrapbook page, etc.

Here is what I made.

LinkI wanted to have a pink dress to match my daughter's ballet recital dress. It has been colored with prismacolor pencils. Not sure if you can tell, but I added some gold glitter to the dress too, and to the corners.
And then some lace to the dress and the edge of the card.

Ok, it is past 1am here, I really need to get to bed now!

Hope you're having a great day!

Cuddly Buddly Challenge 1

For Word Play Weekend Challenge please click here.

For Whimsy Stamps Digi blog hop please click here!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cuddly Buddly just started a new challenge blog and since I love Wee Stamps which are also being sold there, and just discovered and fell in love with their other digis too, I decided to play along for a chance at winning.

The theme for their first challenge is

A brand new...

It could be a Wedding, New Baby, New Home, New Job, New Year or even a new craft tool, etc.
I had this image from when it was first released, but haven't had a chance yet to use it. I hope it counts as my brand new, but it could also be a brand new year in someone's life since it's a birthday card.

Here is my card.

The image I used for today's card is Suzie with Bunny. Isn't it adorable!!

I colored the image last night when everyone was sound asleep but had to wait until morning to finish it, because I didn't want to make so much noise with my sewing machine.

I colored with derwent coloursoft pencils blended with baby oil, and then some copics for the skin. Papers are from Stampin Up, retired designer paper - my favorite and I am running low on it :-(
I applied some glitter to the designer paper and to the image itself. The border punch is Martha Stewart Lace border. I've had these large prima flowers forever, they are just so huge, I never really use them, but thought it worked great to use behind the sentiment.
To finish off the card I did some distressing around all edges and sponged with turquoise ink.

Here are some challenges I am combining here:
Ok, found lots of challenges to combine again, thanks to Feline Playful!
