Year in Review 2022 - Favorite Creations of the Year *Blog Hop* and a Small Prize Giveaway

Hello and welcome!

Today/this week a group of crafters and I are hosting the Year in Review blog hop where we share our favorite creations of 2022 and I hope you will join us too, either by leaving a comment or by linking up your own "year in review" post - or both! The linky tool will remain open for 1 week, so even if you didn't sign up to be a co-host, you can still share with us during this week.

I am giving away a prize to one lucky commenter too, and it's possible that there are more giveaways along the way so hopefully you will hop along and leave the other co-hosts some love. The prize winner will be selected from those leaving a comment.

I always have a hard time selecting favorites so to make it easier on myself  I select a favorite from each month. I did list the stamps used in case anyone is interested and you can click on the link above each card to see the original post for more info.

It was fun scrolling through the blog posts to look back at what I created. I've really enjoyed playing with inks and stencils this past year and I am still working on getting better at scenic cards as I love them so much but I never quite know where to begin with them.
But looking at these cards I can see that I failed (again) with my crafty New Year's resolution of 2022 of using up more patterned papers. I barely used any. Maybe I'll try again in the new year :)

If you are a paper crafter and would like to join in with your own year in review type post, please feel free to link up with us too! The linky tool will remain open until January 5th.

A Clean and Simple Thank You Card

It's hard to believe this is my last new card share of the year! Over the holidays we are running the challenge at Allsorts over 2 weeks so you have until January 6th to join us. It's Brenda's turn to host and she chose the theme of Clean and Simple. We have 3 prizes this time: from Highlight CraftsAALL and Create and Ruth Hamilton DesignHope you will join in with us!

This week I used an image from Ruth Hamilton Design, the beautiful Wild Roses, thought it was a perfect image to use for a Christmas themed "thank you" card by adding a pine branch.

I colored with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and fussy cut the image. The blossoms have been fussy cut a second time to add with foam tape.

The square wreath die is by Penny Black - Wildwood. The pine branch is part of the Beautified Baubles die set also by Penny Black. It's hard to see but I added some glitter to the flower centers. The white background was embossed using an old Stampin Up embossing folder. The sentiment is part of Itty Bitty Basics sentiment set from MFT.

While this is my last new card post of the year, I do have another post scheduled for December 30th, my Year in Review blog hop post where myself and a group of crafters will share our favorites of 2022. Hope you will stop by then. I will have a small prize to give away then too.

I am ready for things to slow down a bit now. Last week we got to enjoy the Nutcracker ballet where my daughter danced as the Sugarplum Fairy, one of Uncle Drosselmeyer's dolls and a snow fairy. It's been a busy several weeks of rehearsing leading up to it but it was such a joy to see her perform!
Now she is on a winter holiday break from both dance and school so I got her help with my second batch of Christmas cookies. Always nice to get help in the kitchen!!

Thank you all so much for visiting!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Hope you stay warm! We are in the midst of an arctic blast with temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius (maybe even lower) so it will be a chilly Christmas. At least the strong winds are supposed to calm down by tomorrow.

Miracles Happen When You Believe

Hello and welcome!

It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and this week Pauline is hosting. Her optional theme is "O Christmas Tree" but you may share all your new crafty makes for our "Anything Goes" option if you are already done with Christmas cards. There are two wonderful prizes to win this week so hope you'll join in!

I decided to make a nature themed winter/Christmas card using Lavinia stamps.

I just love how the sparkle makes it appear as if there are Christmas lights decorating the trees and the bunnies are looking up to admire the lights. There is closeup below where the sparkles show up better.

These are all Lavinia Stamps - Fairy Fir Tree Small, Fairy Fir Tree 2, Pipin and a hare from the Whimsical Hares set.

I used torn paper to create hills/snow banks. The sky was done using Victorian Velvet, Wilted Violet and a mix of Blueprint Sketch/Speckled Egg Distress Oxide inks. I recently talked about my disappointment in using my posca pen to flick "snowflakes " onto the card and I already ran out of paint from it, so this time I decided to dilute some white gesso paint with water and I flicked some of it onto the card. I do love the ease of a Posca pen though so I will reorder it and keep practicing my flicking.

The die cut snowflakes are from Penny Black's Dancing Snowflake die set and the sentiment is one from Tim Holtz' Small Talk sticker pack.

I used a  Sakura Quickie Glue Pen on the trees then sprinkled loose glitter onto the card for some sparkle. The rabbit isn't supposed to have a sparky eye, a glitter speck must have landed right there for the photo but it's gone now.

Snowflake Blessings

It's Saturday again and we have another fun theme for you at Allsorts challenge. Lorraine (Lolo) is hosting this week and selected the optional theme of Let it Snow. Everyone is welcome to join us with your winter themed creation or anything crafty goes! We have two fabulous prizes this week by  Oakwood - a Stampendous stamp and 2 stencils.

Here is what I made:

I started out by stamping the snowflakes (Penny Black Holiday Snippets) with Versamark ink and heat embossing using super fine white embossing powder. Then I inked  the background with Distress Oxide inks Cracked Pistachio, Blueprint Sketch and  Tumbled Glass. I also added a few sprinkles of blue Brushos  (spritzed with water). Posca Pen ink onto the background too. Speaking of Posca pens, if you are using this for spatter effects, do you have any tips on how not to get spatter all over your desk and everything around? I don't mind the mess so much, but it seems like I am wasting the pen by spattering all around instead of the card!!!

I wanted to add some sort of creature to the card so of course a little snowman is perfect for a snowflake themed card. This little one is part of Penny Black's clear set  Holly Jolly. I used my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils for coloring and then I fussy cut the image. The beautiful snowflake quote is part of the same snowflake stamp set Holiday Snippets. I also used a winter word stamp from Lavinia Stamps (Winter Magic) which I really love too. I first used it with Tumbled Glass ink but you can barely see the words, so I used it again randomly this time with Broken China ink. A little bit of Frosted Lace stickles glitter on the snowman's hat and a few tiny rhinestones finish off the card.

Holiday Time at Paper Funday with a Touch of Vintage

This is my second post for today, if you are here for Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday challenge, please visit this link.

A few weeks ago I was invited to join the Paper Funday Challenge as a guest designer for December and today I am sharing my card made for the challenge. Paper Funday is a monthly papercraft challenge offering a new optional theme the first Wednesday of each month and for the month of December it's "Holiday Time".

And here is what I made with the optional theme in mind.

I love this beautiful old- fashioned stamp and try to get it out each holiday season!

This is PSX stamp K-2431, you might be able to find it on eBay or Etsy.

The image was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink and colored with Distress inks. I fussy cut around the oval.

Related Products:

The sentiment is part of a stamp set by Whimsy Stamps but long retired.

The background was done by simply inking with Vintage Photo Distress ink and some white Posca pen spatter. Some natural jute twine finishes off the card.

It's hard to see but I added some glitter onto the snow and berries for a little sparkle.

Thanks so much for visiting!
