Phindy's Shaped Card Challenge

Recently one of my cards got chosen as card of the Week at Phindy's Place and lucky me received a $5 gift certificate to use in Phindy's store. I chose the cute snowman stamp that I used below and another gorgeous spring stamp, which I am sure I will be using soon too.

I know, Christmas is over, and won't come again for a long time, but every year I seem to be running into the same problem, not having enough cards to mail out and stressing. So I am challenging myself to create (at least) one Christmas card a month, so I won't have that problem again this year.

This image is called "Back to Nature". I colored it using derwent coloursoft pencils.
The papers I used are from my stash, I don't remember what company they are from.

As this week's Challenge at Phindy's Place is "Shaped Cards", I decided to make a center step card. I have only made this shape once before. Instructions can be found here.

I would love to combine the following challenges today:

Photobucket

And that is all for today, I hope you liked my card. Thanks so much for stopping by. I will be back again on Monday with a Card for Day 5 of Whimsy Stamps New Release Showcase.

Enjoy your weekend!

Cute and girly for digital tuesday

Happy Tuesday!
Hope you are enjoying your week so far! It's been good here so far, the kids are back in school ready to learn :-) I have lots of things planned while they are at school, will finally have a chance at sorting through all those toys and maybe I'll even find some time to paint my kitchen. But of course I won't be neglecting my hobby :-)

We have a new challenge for you over at digital tuesday. This week it was Karen's turn to choose a theme and she'd like to see something

Cute and Girly!

I know this one is easy for most of us so I hope you will all join. There is of course a fabulous prize up for grabs too! This week we have

Phindy's Place

sponsoring us, and is giving away one of her adorable $3 digis to one lucky randomly chosen winner.

Here is my card.

I decided to use one of Phindy's digis, I had it for a while and only used it once, so this was my chance to use it again. Love this little fairy.

The images has been colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and copic markers. Paper is from DCWV and main card stock is from Stampin Up. White is Neenah and Georgia Pacific. I embellished with prima flowers, brads, punched out leaves, and ribbon, and then applied some glitter to the wings.
The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (party mini letter seals rubber set found here).
To finish it off I used my janome mini sewing machine around the edges.

Here is a close up of the image.

I'd love to enter my card to the following challenges:
And that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Easter Parade for digital tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope your having a good week so far!

Mine started out with a broken Laptop, it might got hit by lightning, it won't even read the recovery CD so I won't be having a laptop for a while. Hate using the desktop as it is upstairs and it's sooooo slow. Not to mention I had to go relocate the images that I purchased last couple of months because I hadn't moved them to my USB stick yet. The ones I remembered I was able to save again through my email or the store where I got them from, but I am sure there are a few that I don't remember buying :-(

But enough of my whining,

as it is time for a new challenge over at digital tuesday. It was Lorraine's turn to host and she chose

Easter Parade

as our theme! I hope you get to play along for a chance at a fantastic prize from our sponsor "Pixie Dust Studio".

I really wanted to use this cute image by Phindy's Place, I don't think I have ever used it! I also really wanted to use the gorgeous meadow background which was recently released from Whimsy Stamps by Crissy Armstrong. Since I have yet to learn how to merge images (and since I don't know if these 2 companies allow actual merging with other companies) I just cut the bunny image out and glued it onto the background.

I used my derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil for coloring/blending. I actually started out with this week's sketch saturday but it looks nothing like it anymore so I won't be entering my card there. The piece of designer paper is from a DCWV stack, and the blue is bazzil. I embellished with prima flowers, punched out butterflies, sticky pearls and buttons and of course glitter. Decided it needed something else, so I did some paper piercing.

I'd also love to enter my card to the following challenges:
Bee crafty (easter)
Catch the bug (anything goes)
Little Claire's (spring or spring colors)
Aly's Sunday Challenge (bunnies)
Creative Cowgirls (spring or easter)

That's all from me for today. Hope you liked the card.

Have a great day!

Spring Somethings

It's Friday again and that means a new challenge over at stamp something!

Spring something

is our theme this week! Sad to say that it got waaaay too cold here in IL again, we are even supposed to get some snow flurries :(

For my card today I used a digi from Phindy's place. It's been colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil.

The paper is by "Three bugs in a rug "Chloe" - double sided. I distressed all edges and did some sewing with my janome mini. Around the image I used a stamp from itty bitty backgrounds by Stampin Up, then added some dazzling diamonds.
I embellished with ribbon, prima flowers and sticky pearls.

I would love to combine this card with the following challenges:

Our monthly sponsor Simon Says is back again this week offering a fantastic prize to one lucky winner! Hope you can play along!

Phindy's Place Challenge and a winner announcement

Hello and happy wednesday! Hope you're having a great week so far! It's freezing here in Illinois, I hope this cold doesn't last too long!

Before I get to my card I would like to announce the "Whimsy Stamps" digi -hop winner. My blog was one of the chosen stops for a prize. Thank you to everyone that hopped along with us!!

The winner is Grace from Th-ink-ing of you.

Congrats Grace, you get to choose one digital stamp of your choice from Whimsy stamps. Please email Debbie at

Today is also rubber release day at Whimsy Stamps and the Rubber Stamps Design Team have organized a blog hop to show off all of the new amazing products again.
Click here if you'd like to hop along!

------------------------------------------------------------

Now onto my card... last week the card I entered for Phindy's challenge was chosen as the Card of the Week and I got a 20% store discount. My card uses one of the images I got with my discount. I absolutely love this one!! It's called "Hot Cocoa". Had to make a card with it right away!

I printed it on Gina K layering weight card stock and then colored it with my derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil. If you have ever had problems with ink smearing, someone shared a solution with me. Just choose "photo-paper" on your printer settings, but use your card stock. It takes a little longer to print but I have not had any problems since.

Unfortunately when I was all done with my card and applied stickles the part with phindy's signature smeared from the stickles. Wish I could cover it with some flowers but they just wouldn't fit into the layout so I will probably just redo the image and use less stickles.

Of course I wanted to play along in Phindy's Challenge this week, the theme is "embossing". I used a hearts cuttlebug embossing folder. The edges were all sponged with caramel ink and then distressed. I kept the card pretty simple, embellished with a couple of flourishes (tim holtz), and some ribbon. My sentiment is from a retired SU set.

Besides Phindy's Challenge I have combined a few others, Claudia and Co wants to see pink, blue and brown, Papertake weekly wants to see a heart. C.R.A.F.T challenge wants to see a diecut.

That's all for today! I hope you liked my card! I will be back tomorrow with another card using a brand new (to be released tomorrow) meljen's image.

Have a great day and stay warm!!
Ellie.

Shades of Gray plus one

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I have been very busy these last few days creating cards, I have 2 more posts scheduled for later today so be sure to check back!

This week our hostess at Digital Tuesday is the talented Sharon, and she wants to see

shades of gray plus one other color

on our creations this week. I love gray and had so much fun creating this card!

This is also the card I made for Annika, one of my Whimsy Stamps and Stamp Something Design Team mates. Whimsy is holding a "circle of friends" blog hop for her to show her that we are there for her in this difficult time. Unfortunately I did not have time to be part of the hop but of course Annika has been in my thoughts and I hope this card will put a little smile on her face. If you'd like to hop along to support Annika you can start here at Crystals blog.

The image I used today is from Phindy's place. It has been colored with my derwent coloursoft pencils and then blended with baby oil.
I used some brand new gray patterned paper from a DCWV stack that I just picked up at Joann's. The pink Designer paper is an oldie from Stampin Up. I distressed and sewed along the edges. The flowers were made by punching out assorted flowers with a Su punch (spring bouquet - retired), then I crumbled them up and then layered them.
My sentiment is from Stampin Up.

I have made this card with a few other challenges in mind:
Hope you'll join us this week at digital tuesday, we have a brand new sponsor, limited runs, and a fun prize is up for grabs!

Now that's all for this post. Hope you'll get some time to check back later for my february penny black at all sorts card and then at noon EST we are starting our monthly Whimsy digital release blog hop with some new super cute digis and a few prizes too!

DTC #67 - A sketch challenge

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks for visiting my blog today!

Today's challenge over at Digital Tuesday, chosen by the lovely Lora, is a sketch. And what a fun sketch to work with!!

I used an image from Phindy's Place. I just love the cuteness of it.
It's been colored using copics and a white prismacolor pencil for highlights.

Designer Paper is from Stampin Up (retired).
The sentiment is also from a retired stampin up set. I embellished with some paper flowers, flourishes and leaves, sticky pearls and a touch of glitter here and there.

My card also fits a couple other challenges:
Phindy's Place challenge (theme: embossing)
Stamp Something (theme: recipe -1 DP, 1 ribbon, 1 image)
Totally papercrafts (theme: swirls and pearls)

We have a brand new sponsor this week - Bella Studio digital designs. Be sure to check them out, their images are so cute!! And one lucky winner gets to choose 3 digis from them. Hopefully you'll get a chance to play!! All you have to do is make a card using the sketch provided and of course don't forget to use a digi.

If you have some time be sure to also check out the rest of the DT's gorgeous work, some of them using digis from our sponsor!

DTC #63 - Easel Card

Welcome to another Digital Tuesday Challenge. This week Anneke is our hostess and she wants to see some Easel Cards. How fun!! This was actually my first easel card that I actually completed. I tried it before but somehow it just didn't work.

For this card I followed the exact measurements that Beate used on her splitcoast stampers tutorial. I had so much fun making it!!

My image is from Phindy's Place. Isn't this image the cutest!!
I colored it using copic markers. I used a white prismacolor pencil for some highlights.
Designer Papers are from DCWV and Stampin Up. For my card base and other trims I used some confetti kraft cardstock from Stampin Up.

The card was kept pretty simple. I only embellished with a couple of punched borders, a couple of buttons and glitter. I tried to add some prima flowers but somehow it never looked right so I just left them off. Sentiment is from stampin up.

My card also fits into a few other challenges:

We have a new sponsor this week, Robyn's Fetish. They are giving away 2 of their cute digis to one lucky winner. To have a chance at winning all you have to do is make an easel card, but don't forget to use a digistamp too.

Have a great day!!

Digital Tuesday Challenge #60 - Cute People

Happy Tuesday everyone and welcome to another Digital Tuesday Challenge!
Sandy is our hostess this week and she has chose the challenge

Cute People

What a fantastic challenge as I had so many cute people to choose from!! I decided to use a digi from Phindy's Place. I was lucky enough to be the winner of the $8 gift certificate to Phindy's store a few weeks ago, and got to choose some images. They are all so cute so I decided to buy a couple extras too. If there were only more hours in a day so I could use them all sooner!!I made this card for my daughter to give to her daddy for father's day. I just love this image because it very much resembles my almost 4-year old when she puts on daddy's big work boots.
I colored the image using copic markers. The papers are from bo bunny, it's actually a double sided paper. Embellished with some ribbon, hard ware and brads.

My card also fits this week's Phindy's Place Challenge (Theme: masculine card). Don't know if my card qualifies as a masculine card but it will be given to a male.

If you have some cute people digis, why not join our challenge this week. My Grafico is our repeat sponsor this week and is giving away one stamp set and 30%off an order to one lucky winner. If you haven't checked out their site be sure to do so. There are lots and lots of sets to choose from from lots of different designers.

Recipe:
  • stamps: digi-Phindy's Place, sentiment -SU
  • Paper: Stampin Up, my minds eye, white copic paper
  • Ink: HP inkjet, chocolate chip, tempting turquoise, copic markers
  • Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, ribbon, brads (all SU), stardust stickles glitter
  • Tools: Scallop circle punch, circle punch, scallop border punch (all SU)

It's time for another challenge over at the DT challenge blog, and Lorraine is our hostess this week. The theme she chose is

"A toast to you"

You can make anything you want as long as there is either food or drink (or both) on the project.
I loved this challenge, and knew exactly what image I was going to use when I first read about our challenge. The image is from Phindy's Place, it was a freebie some time ago but I believe it is now available for purchase in her store. I just love how this little mouse is munching away!

I colored it using copic markers. Stickles was applied to the frosting and the small flower for some sparkle. The papers are from stampin up and DCWV. I embellished with some paper flowers a pearl and ribbon. Then did some paper piercing to finish off the card.
I hope you liked it!
