Near the Sea...

Today I am sharing another card made with the Summer Whiff of Joy stamp kit. I decided to go for a one-layer card with a watercolor wash background.

I very rarely make one-layer cards. They may look simple but it is so hard not to mess it up! Being a very messy papercrafter doesn't help either. I actually had to trim some card stock off the edges because I ended up with ink marks.

I started out by masking all the edges of my watercolor card using post-it notes. Then I started to create my watercolor background. Since hubby has his expensive watercolors in his car (and he is at work) I ended up using my children's crayola watercolor paints for the background. I first made the bakground wet using a clean brush. Then I added the watercolor. I used a darker color on the bottom portion. Before removing the post-it notes, I flicked some more color onto the background.

The image has been colored with copic markers and fussy cut. I cut the waves and clouds away so I simply stamped the image onto my background before adhering the fussy cut image.
Sentiment is part of the Summer Stamp kit. I finished it off by simply adding some twine.
I hope you had a chance to pre-order the kit. There are so many fun image included, plus matching sentiments.Already looking forward to the Fall stamp kit, but it is going to be a little while before it will be available :-)

Summertime Birthday

I recently made this card using more of Whimsy's new rubber stamps. The image on today's card is called "Zoe Butterfly" from Elisabeth Bell's Little Cottage Cuties Collection.

It's been stamped onto copic xpress blending card and colored with copic markers. The blue background paper panel was done by inking white card stock with distress ink, then I stamped a verse from Whimsy's set Birthday Greetings onto it several times. The belated birthday sentiment is from the new set Life's Moments. Designer paper probably from Basic Grey (I had if forever!). I applied some gesso to it because it seemed a little too bright.  I finished off the card by adding a layered contest ribbon diecut shape (also from Whimsy), added some twine and glitter, and did some sewing.

Whiff of Joy - Summer Stamp Kit

Happy Friday!

A couple days ago I received my Whiff of Joy summer stamp kit, and of course I couldn't wait to start coloring! Such adorable stamps in this kit! I apologize for not showing any sneak peeks this time, but shipping was delayed and since my printer just smears when using copic xpress card, I had to wait for the rubber stamps to arrive.

I used dylusions spray inks, gelatos and gesso to create the sea and sky. Then I stamped some old SU stamps around the image panel.
The cute whale and Henry image was stamped onto copic xpress blending card using memento tuxedo ink and then colored with copic markers. Then fussy cut.
Sentiment is part of this awesome kit, which includes several large image stamps and several sentiments. Designer paper is from SU. I sewed the edges, added a button with some matching red twine and adhered it onto a white card front.

I'd love to play along here:

Whimsy Stamps - May Rubber Stamp and Die Release Day!!

Hello and welcome to the Whimsy Stamps Rubber Stamp and Die May RELEASE DAY hop. Today Whimsy Stamps released several gorgeous  new stamps, stamp sets and dies, plus designer paper packs. We are holding a blog hop each day this week, sharing creations made with these new goodies. As you know there are also several prizes to give away throughout the week, so be sure to hop along and leave comments along the way.

Today I am sharing a card made with the cute stamp set "Cupcake and Toys" from Whimsy's  Cierra and Friends collection. Isn't this puppy just adorable!!

I used my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils for coloring, and I fussy cut the image. I created the background scene by masking the clouds and applying distress ink for the sky. The "grass" was cut using an oval cutting shape and paper from my stash. The sun was done by punching yellow circle and cutting some paper strips for the sun rays.

I just love the sentiment "You had me at woof". So cute! It is part of the stamp set Cupcake and toys.
The little tags that I used with the twine are from the clear photopolymer set "Simple Buttons". I used the matching tiny tags dies to cut out the "simple buttons" I used, then tied them onto the card using twine.

If you'd like to hop along with us today simply click the links below. Don't forget to comment along the way to be entered into a prize draw. We are giving away a total of 4 prizes (of 2 stamps each) during release week. Day and prize locations are secret. The winners will then be announced on Monday on the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations blog.

Whimsy Stamps - May Rubber and Die release Sneak Peek Day 1

Happy Monday and welcome to the Whimsy Stamps May Rubber and Die release week! Today is the first day of Sneak Peeks. The entire release will be available to purchase in the Whimsy Stamps Shop on Wednesday.

As always we will have several prizes to give away throughout this week, but the prize days and locations are secret, so you will have to hop along and leave comments on each one of the participating designers each day.

For today's hop I decided to create a mixed media project using stamps and dies from the upcoming release. The image stamp is from artist Cathy Delannssay - Hymne aux fees.
I used several types of media to create the background...designer papers, mod podge, gesso, gelatos, dylusions ink and some glitter. It was very messy to make this and I do love how it turned out, although some of my background stamped grasses and leaves doesn't show up as well, because I stamped it onto mod podged background.

The main image has been stamped onto copic blending card and colored using copic markers. The little green splashes that you see on the dress/flower petals ended up there on accident when I sprayed with dylusions ink. But since mixed media pieces are so forgiving, I think it looks great anyway.

Here is another view. As you can see I gave the girl some wings by using part of the new whimsy butterfly border die.
Whimsy products used today are 'L Hymne aux fees by Cathy Delanssay, Sun-sational sentiment circles by Raindrop Echo Designs, butterfly border die found in the Shapeology section on release day, and the verse is from an older stamp set by Crissy Armstrong (Summer Garden and sentiments).

I have also used a couple non-whimsy stamps for my background - a music sheet background stamp (hero arts), grass/leaves stamps (penny black). The little flowers that are peeking out in the background were part of a designer paper. But since I painted some gesso over the paper, it is not very visible and looks more like it's been stamped.

Penny Black and More - May Midmonth Inspiration

Happy Sunday! I didn't think I was able to create a card for this month's Penny Black and More midmonth reminder, but the kids had their friends over yesterday morning, so I was able to do some coloring and created this cute CAS card. Our theme this month is simply Anything Goes, so no reason not to play along. The only restriction we have that no digis are to be used.

The stamps are from the clear set "Hello Friend" by Penny Black.
The image has been stamped onto copic xpress blending card and then colored using copic markers. Designer papers are from a 6x6 paper pack which I bought a couple years ago. Sorry I don't remember which company it's from. The sentiment is part of the clear set. I used Whimsy Stamps Notables 7 die to cut it out. Embellished with a few extra butterflies (MS punch), some sticky pearls and glitter.

Here is another view.

I'd love to play along here:

Mix-ability with Gelatos and More

Happy Friday! I wanted to make a card for my Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day, so I decided to play along in this week's Mix-ability challenge on SCS.

I started out by heat embossing the floral image (Penny Black - Delicate Florals) using black soot distress ink and clear embossing powder. Then I stamped the image again onto a sticky note. I cut out the little blooms to use as a mask. After they were in place over the stamped image, I used gelatos for the background. I used a damp baby wipe to smooth out the color, and added a couple different shades to the green. I only have one shade of blue gelato, so I wasn't able to do that on the top part. Next I stamped a background stamp (Whimsy Stamps - Life Defined) onto the sky part using weathered wood distress ink.

The blooms were colored using some of the R20 copic color group, and I used R39 for the darkest shade. I also stamped some grass onto the card using a penny black clear stamp and distress ink. Finished off the card by adding some washi tape and the sentiment (Whimsy Stamps - For all the Women in our lives). Added a little button and some twine and then adhered it onto night of navy cardstock, then onto a watercolor paper card.

Besides the challenge on SCS I'd love to play along here:

Sugar and Spice...

Happy Monday! I hope your week started of good. It's nice and sunny here today which always makes me happy :-)
I have a card to share today which I made for the new Whimsy Stamps Facebook challenge. This month we'd like to see things that sparkle. I hope you'll join us. As always we have a fabulous prize to give away to one lucky winner! You find all the details on how to play along HERE.

I used one of the new stamps from Whimsy's Wee stamps collection - Mary. Of course I had to have this stamp because my daughter loves anything sheep.

The image has been stamped onto copic xpress blending card using Memento tuxedo black ink. I colored it using copic markers. I also used a Whimsy Stamps sentiment from the new stamp set "Girl Talk" by SC designs.  The little white picket fence was cut out using Whimsy's Picket fence die.
A Martha Stewart punch was used for the grass border. I added a few flourishes around the image using one of my most used stamp sets "Lavish Flourishes"  from Whimsy. Designer paper is from MME, flowers are by prima. I added some sticky pearls to the centers and glittered all the flowers using stickles.

I am playing along here:

Before I go I wanted to share a cute photo. The other day we planted a fairy garden. Thought it would be fun to add a couple strawberry plants.
Someone else thought it was a good idea too! The little stinker ate all the berries!!
And here is my cute useless cat Thomas trying to scare him away :-)
Of course he loves chewing the grass we planted into the fairy garden. (Can you see the bunny in the back? He seems to be very curious watching what's going on between Thomas and the squirrel LOL).

Penny Black and More - May challenge

Hello and happy Sunday! It's already May and that means we  have a new challenge at Penny Black and More. It's an easy one this month, as it's simply "Anything Goes".
Hope you'll find some time to play along. As always we have some fabulous prizes to give away!

Here is what I made using the transparent set "Hello Friend".
I colored the image using copic markers, and then fussy cut it out. The balloons are part of another stamp from this set. They were cut out too and attached to the car, because I wanted to create a birthday themed card.
The sketch was inspired by a card I came across on pinterest. Sentiment and die that I used for the  are from Whimsy Stamps (Celebration Circle Pennants set and matching pennants die). I applied some crystal effects to the lights on the car, the windshield and the balloons for some shine.

I hope you get a chance to join us this month. As always we have several fabulous prizes from our very generous sponsors. To play along simply click the logo below.

Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog

Enjoy your Sunday and
happy stamping!!

Mix-ability

Today's mix-abilities challenge at SCS is "Things that fly". Since I want to get better at mixed media style projects, I decided to play along. Here is what I made.
I used several products to create this card. Background stamp by SU, flowers by SU and Penny Black, Sentiment by Whimsy Stamps (mini chalkboards), I also used a stencil by TCW, inks used are distress inks, dylusions, I also used gelatos and embossing powder. To finish it all off I added some washi tape and sequins.

Here is a closeup.

Thanks for stopping by! I will be back at the latest on Sunday with a cute style card.

Have a fabulous and sunny day!

First Art Journal Page

Happy May!! Hope it's a sunny day for you! It's been raining here all week long, and pretty chilly too. Hoping next week will be better.

My 7 year old was busy yesterday drawing/coloring characters from her currently favorite movie "Frozen". I really liked how they both turned out and asked her if I could turn them into an art journal page. I have never made one before and thought these colorings would be perfect for one.
She agreed and that is what I did today.
I used several patterned papers for the background. Glued them onto the mixed media card stock using mod podge. I painted a little bit of gesso onto the papers. Olaf and Elsa (the two characters my daughter drew and colored) were cut out and glued onto the papers using mod podge. I printed out the verse (from the Movie Soundtrack) and added it too. I also used a stencils with some dylusions inks for a little extra texture. Added the snowflakes (whimsy stamps snowflakes trio die) and then painted another layer of mod podge over the whole page, and sprinkled with glitter.

Thanks for stopping by!
