Card Front as Wall Decor

Happy Sunday!

Have you ever worked on a card or with an image thinking it is too cute or too pretty to give away? :-) :-)  That's the thought I had after coloring and fussy cutting this cute cute stamp!!! My first thought was to make an ornament using this cute image, but I've been dealing with this cough for so long, that I was just too exhausted to create something out of the ordinary, so I just made a card instead. But I decided to just make a card front and frame it, and use as wall decor in Winter :-)

I stamped a snowy winter's night (evening) background for the cute penguin family. The tree stamps I used for the background are from a Whimsy stamp set from last year (link in product list below). I first used a hand cut mask for the snow hill. Then I flicked some masking fluid onto the background. When it was dry (about 5 minutes later) I inked the background using distress inks. With the hill mask in place I randomly stamped the trees onto the background using the faded jeans distress ink, the lighter trees were done by not re-inking the stamp in between.

I matted the scene onto white card stock, then onto designer paper. The whole thing was then matted onto white card stock to fit the frame I used here. Finished off with diecut snowflake borders (also from Whimsy).

Sentiment is from the set "Holiday Notable 2" and I cut it out using the matching die. Glitter was added to the hat and scarfs, in the corners and the snow hills. It's hard to see, but I added a little bit of ink for "footprints".

Here it is framed. The frame is from a cheap but pretty floral art print I found at Walmart. Maybe I'll find a nicer frame at Goodwill, but if not, I might decorate this one with some felt snowflakes or snowy sprigs from the craft store...

  Product used:
(all of the above are from Whimsy Stamps)
distress inks (weathered wood, faded jeans)
liquitex masking fluid & old brush
designer paper (the paper studio)
recollection 110lb card stock
xpress it blending card, copics
stickles glitter, MS snowflake punch

Happy New Year!!!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! Hard to believe it's the last day of 2014! I hope you have a fun time planned for today. I will be spending it with my family at home, playing games, eating and watching New York :-)

First up is a quick card I created last night using the stamp set "Christmas Scene Builder" from Whimsy's SC designs.
I simply stamped the sentiment 3 times, but only inking it once. Next I used the starburst stamps (there are two - one slightly smaller than the other one), and randomly stamped onto the card stock using SU and distress inks. The little dots are also from the same set. Finished it off with a little glitter and some sequins.

The next card I meant to share some time ago, but somehow I just noticed it was sitting in "draft" mode, so I decided to share it today.

It is a Christmas card I made using stamps from the Whiff of Joy Winter Stamp kit.

This is also my last Whiff of Joy creation as a Designer. It has been a fun year creating with the cute and gorgeous stamps from their exclusive Stamp Kits, and I am very lucky I got to add each one of these kits to my stamp collection. The image has been fussy cut after coloring. Sentiment is part of the set. I simply embellished with some ribbon and gold glitter.

And that is all from me for today.

Wishing all my followers and visitors a
Happy and Healthy New Year 2015!

Looking forward to another crafty year with you!

Let is Snow

Hello and thanks for visiting! I have a new card to share today using a beautiful stamp from Whimsy's Cottage Cuties collection along with some other Whimsy favorites.

This beautiful stamp is called "Snow Bunny". It was one of the have to have stamps for me from the November release. I stamped her onto copic blending card using memento ink and then colored with copic markers. As you can see it's been fussy cut.
I created the background using the "Christmas Scene Builder" set from Whimsy's SCDesigns. Sentiments are from the stamp set "Winter Wonderland", another Whimsy SCDesigns favorite of mine. The card base was done using Whimsy's double scallop square die. I simply added some glitter to finish it off.

Product List:
Memento and SU ink
xpress and SU papers
double scallop square die - Whimsy Stamps

Playing along in these challenges:

Brown Sugar –  Anything Goes

Christmas Scene Builder

This is a scheduled post, so hopefully blogger will behave and post it as expected!

I absolutely love this new stamp set by Whimsy stamps -  Christmas Scene Builder - by SC Designs. I used it on our Grand Blog Hop, using the city scape, and on today's card I used it using the evergreen trees.

The scene was made with distress inks and a mask created by simply tearing some paper. A very CAS card, and it was very quick to make once I decided on the design.

You can find the stamp set HERE in the Whimsy Shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Whimsy Stamps - October Rubber Stamp Release Day One

Happy Monday!!

It's almost time again for Whimsy Stamps newest Rubber stamp release! Over the next 3 days we will be holding a daily blog hop showing you creations made with these new goodies. The Grand Blog Hop will take place on Wednesday, which is the official release day and all the new goodies will be available for purchase in the Whimsy Shop then.

As always, be sure to hop along and leave comments at each stop for a chance to win the prize. I have included the hop list at the end of the post.

Today we are showing you creations made with designs by Crissy Armstrong, Mi Ran and SC Designs and I am so excited to be part of today's hop.
Edited this post Oct. 8th, as I have redone this card to create step by step photos.
Below is the new card and I do like it better than the first card. Step-by-step photos can be found on the Whimsy Blog (Oct. 9th).

I used the stamp set Christmas Scene Builder by SC Designs. I started out by simply using the direct to paper technique using distress inks. Then I heat embossed the first row of skycrapers, masking off some "snow" on the bottom. I stamped the houses again with light gray ink to create more skycrapers in the background. Not sure I like the yellow, I wanted it to look like the buildings are all lit and are making the city glow...maybe I should have used a more subtle yellow.
The snow on the bottom was done by using a mask and more distress ink. The moon was also masked off, before I started inking the background.
I added a few sequins and then the sentiment with a little bit of washi tape.

And here is the hopping list.

Whimsy Stamps - September Grand Blog Hop

Happy Wednesday! Today is RELEASE DAY at Whimsy Stamps and we are celebrating with a Grand Blog Hop showing you creations made with the amazing stamps and dies from today's release. There will be an amazing prize too, and all you have to do to be entered is leave a comment on each blog (listed below). You have until Friday noon EST to hop along.

Don't forget all the new stamps are available TODAY for purchase in the Whimsy Shop. All US orders over $75 will earn free shipping!!

I had so much fun creating today's card and I just love how it turned out.

All stamps are from the stamp set "Winter Wonderland" by SC designs. The snowbanks were created by using torn paper and distress ink. I embellished only with a couple sticky rhinestones. I do believe there is a die available to cut out the deer. My deer was simply stamped  with walnut stain distress ink after I inked the background.
This is what the complete stamp set looks like.

Feathers and Flourish

Good Morning and Happy Monday!
It's time for a little Whimsy inspiration using a brand new stamp set from Whimsy Stamps.
This was quick to make but pretty messy :-)
I created the background using dylusions spray inks and a stencil, and also a little bit of gesso.
The feathers were all heat embossed using versamark ink and white embossing powder. The flourish and sentiment were also part of this beautiful set.

This stamp set can be found in Whimsy's SC designs collection HERE.

Have a great day and happy stamping!

Best Sweet Friend

Hello and happy April :-)

Hard to believe Spring has finally arrived after this long and bitter cold  winter! I thought it would never end! But spring did arrive, and we already had a few nice days. It's gotten chilly again yesterday, but I know that warmer weather will be here again soon.

Today I am showing you a card that I made with the Whimsy Stamps Facebook challenge in mind. I do hope you'll join us, as there is a fabulous prize up for grabs. You do have to use a whimy stamp product for this one, if you don't have any yet, why not check out some of the Digistamps Whimsy has in store?

I used some new Whimsy products on this card, along with an older sentiment. The fruits were all done using Whimsy's new Fruit Trio die set by SC Designs. The sentiment on the top right is from an older set (Retro Bottle caps sentiments). The friend sentiment in the middle of the card is from the new set Girl Talk also by SC designs for Whimsy.

I am also playing along in a few other challenges:
Deep Ocean Challenge -For A Friend
Loves Rubber Stamps - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly  - Anything Goes
Sweet Stamps -  Dies

Thanks so much for visting!!

All you need is Love

Happy Monday everyone!
I had a little playtime this weekend, and decided to ink up the gorgeous stamp set "All you need is Love" by Whimsy's SC Designs. Came up with this cute "Love" themed card.

I first started by stamping the small hearts on the top border of the card front in pink ink. Using the same ink I stamped the winged  heart at an angle. Both sentiments were stamped  using basic gray ink. I added some small dots using an old SU stamp set. To finish the card off I glittered the little dots. A quick card to recreate.

Here is a close up. What a fun card to make, and so easy to recreate!
I'd love to play along in a few challenges:

Challenges 4 Everybody -  Anything Goes.
