Lamb Hugs Just For You

Still freezing temperatures outside, and more snow is on the way, but Spring has definitely arrived on my blog as I am showing you another spring themed card today. I used one of the new rubber stamps from Whimsy's Crissy Armstrong collections for today's creation.

The image has been stamped onto copic blending card and colored using copic markers. I fussy cut the image after coloring to fit my card design (a few flowers are part of the image, but I left them out).
I used Whimsy's fence die for my background, and Whimsy's stitched borders for my grassy hills. The sky was inked using distress inks. I added a scallop border to the top, and used one of the stitched borders to emboss. Finished off by adding the tag with some twine and a butterfly with some sticky rhinestones.

Product List
Lamb Hugs, Everyday Moments (both by Whimsy Stamps)
Papers by SU, recollections, xpress it
twine, rhinestones

Pocket Card with Tag

Happy Friday! Last Friday of the month already. It's going to be spring soon!!! Although I don't really mind Winter ( just hate driving on wintery roads) I have to admit I am ready for spring now :-) So hopefully the snow we got two days ago was the last one for this season, and that I get to see my snowdrops soon!

It's my turn today to share a creation on the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog, and I made a pocket card for today's post. You might have already seen it on instagram. I like to post my creations there as I make them :-) If you'd like to follow me, the link is on my side bar.

The tag is actually a rubber stamp by Just For Fun. All I did for the tag was create the watercolor wash background, stamping in black ink, and layering the cut out  tag onto black card stock.
To make my watercolor wash, I inked up a clear stamping block using distress inks, spritzed it with plenty of water and then stamped onto watercolor paper. Fun and so easy to do!

As you can see above, I stamped the tag image again onto a watercolor wash scrap, and cut out just the butterfly to create a 3d effect.

I thought this tag would make a cute bookmark too, so decided to make a pocket card for it, instead of just adhering it to the card. I made my pocket from vellum.

I finished it off with the sentiment which I added with black brads.

Products used:
distress inks (turquoise, grape, pink), versafine onyx ink
water, clear stamp block
papers from stash
 brads, sticky pearls, twill, twine

Happy Birthday - 2 cards

This is my second post for today, just scroll down to see the first post :)
It's time for a new challenge over at the Whimsy Stamps Challenge blog and this time we'd like to see you use a sentiment somewhere on your card. I needed to make a couple birthday cards for two soon to be 9 year olds, and this new sentiment set "Happy Birthday" from Whimsy Stamps was just perfect for the occasion.

I used the same sketch on both cards, just changed up the color scheme and added a button on one and flower on the other one.

First up the card for the boy - I sure hope he doesn't mind hearts and glitter :-)

And then here is the one for the girl.

What a fun little sentiment set!!
As you can see I colored the cupcakes with copic markers. Designer papers are from my stash, probably by Bo Bunny for the boy card and MME for the girl card. I think the horizontal stripes work very well with the design. Glitter was added to the hearts. The little banners on the right side were cut using Whimsy's Contest Ribbon Die set. Flowers are by Prima, twine from the Twinery.

Here is a look at the complete set:

There is a wonderful prize up for grabs, so hopefully you'll be able to join us this month! Don't forget you may use any stamp company, it doesn't have to be from Whimsy Stamps.

Thanks for visiting!!

Happy stamping!!

Love Birds

Happy Wednesday and thank you for visiting!!

Did you play along yet in our Penny Black and More challenge this month? If not, or if you'd like to add another creation (you can play along up to 3 times), there is still a little bit time to play along. As usual, we  have some wonderful prizes to give away from our very generous sponsors.
We made it really easy this month too - anything goes - as long as your focal point has been hand stamped.

I created these two note cards using Penny Black's "So Very Much" stamp set.
On the above card I used a circle mask and then inked the cad stock using turquoise ink. Next I stamped the birds using black ink and the little flourish using turquoise ink. Simply layered the card front onto some black card stock and then adhered it onto the turquoise card base.

For the above card I masked the edges using washi tape, then inked white card stock using distress inks. I place another piece of washi tape on the bottom portion, to mask off the area I wanted to be brown. The birds here were  heat embossed using white embossing powder. I used the same heart flourish here too (because it's so pretty :-)
After removing the washi tape mask I added a strip of designer paper and some twine to finish it off.
These cards measure 4x4 inches.

Hope you liked my cards today.
If you'd like to play along with us at Penny Black and More, simply click here.

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll be back later today with another post.

Bookmarks for Valentine's and Mixed Media Monthly

Happy Valentine's Day!

I spent the whole morning yesterday playing with stamps and inks, and today I get to show you the 3 bookmarks I made :-) If you are following me on Instagram, you might have seen them already.

All 3 bookmarks are double sided. Below is the one I made for the kids, side 1.

Below is the other side. I didn't really plan on adding blue here, but I hadn't cleaned my stencil last time I used it, so I got some blue ink mixed into the modeling paste.
I made two of these, pretty much identical, so both kids would have the same one.

I used copic makers for coloring the images above. You can see that it was bleeding through the paper a bit, but since they are of vintage style, it doesn't really matter.

Since I was having so much fun, I decided to make one for my husband too. He loves to read, so it will come in handy :-)
Side 1
Side 2
The images on hubby's bookmark were colored with Faber Castell Polychromos, mainly because I have trouble coloring the cats above with copics, but I decided to color them all with pencils because of the bleeding through.

These were actually pretty easy to make. I simply used different stamps for the background, sponged some distress inks along the edges and then stamped my images right onto the tags. After coloring, I used a stencil and some modeling paste to finish them off.
I wanted these bookmarks to last a while, so I laminated them.

You can see in the first one here (below), that there is more blue ink on the modeling paste. It was the first backside I made. (Didn't get as much blue on the second one, which you can see above.)

Sorry about the bad photo above, it was copied from my Instagram account. These are the 3 I made. Since I made two of the same I was able to photograph both sides of that one, but not of the 3rd one.

Product List:
Share a Hug, So Very Much, Furry Affection, Butterfly Suite
(all above are by Penny Black)
little hearts in envelope stamp by SU
Distress inks in various colors
copics, faber castell polychromos pencils
stencils (sorry I don't know the names)
modeling paste, grosgrain ribbon

Queen Anne's Lace

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Feeling in a floral mood this week, so I decided to ink up the "Queen Anne's Lace" stamp from Just for Fun Rubber Stamp for today's cards. I had so much fun creating this scene, that I decided to make two cards, slightly different but same method.

I put a diecut circle in place as a  mask, then inked up white card stock using distress ink. Removed the circle and then stamped the Queen Anne's Lace image using the same turquoise ink. Then I simply stamped it in black. I used a stencil for the black design in the two corners and finished off with the birthday sentiment. And added a couple small butterflies with some rhinestones.

For this card I used a torn paper mask for the  hills and the same circle. Then inked the background using distress inks. Removed circle and hill mask and stamped the floral image in green and then in black. I love silhouettes stamps, they are so much fun and so easy to use!

Product List:
(both  by JFF)
distress inks (broken china, mowed lawn), versafine onyx ink
MS butterfly punch, sticky rhinestones
stencil (sorry I don't know the name or mfg.)
post-it note for masks

I used Annie has a Sweet Tooth on today's card from Whimsy's Lizzy Love collection. This image is actually part of a set, and also includes a small ice cream cone and a sentiment.

I decided to use her with another sentiment. She's been colored with copic markers and fussy cut.
I thought the designer paper was perfect to use, to create a scene with, and the purple matched my image perfectly too :-)
The sentiment is also from a brand new set - Elegant Labels - and I used the new elegant label die to cut it out. Simply embellished with some twine to finish it off.
