Blush Rose

Hello and welcome!

It's time for a new card share as a new theme starts today at Allsorts challenge. It's another 2 week theme to cover parts of summer and this time around our theme is "Roses or Anything Goes". Hope you'll join us for your chance to win one of our two prizes (a cute stamp from Oakwood or a choice of 3 digis from Ruth Hamilton Designs).

For my card this week I went with the option of Roses and I selected a gorgeous image from Ruth Hamilton Designs - Roses

I colored the image using copic markers. I decided on Blush for the rose so I chose colors in shades of blush along with a few greens for the leaves. The image has been printed twice, fussy cut once and then I fussy cut the large rose from the second image to pop it up with foam tape for some dimension.

The background was done with blue brusho powder from this set for a quick and simple watercolor look. Then I stamped the script (old Stampin Up background stamp) using gray Distress ink.

Patterned paper strip is from my box of scraps and the sentiment is from Penny Black's set Blooming Sentiments. Paper piercing finishes off this CAS- ish card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope to see you at the challenge blog too :)

Poppies and a French Script - Some of the Things I Love

It's the first Sunday of a new month and that means we  have a new challenge at Stamping Sensations. This month our theme is "I Love..." and you fill in the blank by showing us on your card or other crafty makes. Hope you will join us as we have 3 wonderful prizes kindly donated by Penny Black.

There are many things I love, today I am sharing that I love Penny Black stamps, Poppies and my very old French Script stamp which I do seem to use all the time (and I still have no clue what exactly the words are!!)

This gorgeous poppy (Brilliant) is from Penny Black's newest release and I just had to have it. Not that I needed another poppy stamp but they are such pretty flowers and I just love the art style of this one. It is rather large, this is an A2 sized card and I even trimmed some of the bottom off to make it fit.

The background was done with Distress inks with a circle die cut as a mask for a moon (or bright sun). Next I stamped the image onto my new Canson Montval watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx ink then colored with Zig Clean Color markers. The blossoms were stamped a second time on the same type of paper and fussy cut after coloring. I decided to add a little more color to the blossoms so I used some Faber Castell Polychromos  pencils as well.

My French Script stamp is a very old background stamp from Stampin Up. I've unmounted it a long time ago as it's so much easier to use randomly on a card like I did here. I do love my wood mounted stamps and won't ever unmount most of those, but with a background stamp of this size it makes sense. The sentiment is one from another favorite set of mine, Penny Black's Snippet. A strip of dotted paper in black and white finishes off the card.

And below is a peek at our prizes. You have all month long to join us and remember you may enter up to 3 times with a different creation. As we are a stamping challenge stamping (traditional or digital) does need to be the focal point. Hope to see you there!

Daisies and Butterflies

It's Saturday again and that means it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Mervi's turn to host this time around and her theme is "Feminine". Our prizes this week have been kindly donated by Craft Stash and Ruth Hamilton Designs so hopefully you'll join us for a chance to win!

I recently purchased a few new Penny Black stamps and a die set so I've used some new things on today's card.

I love daisies so couldn't resist this pretty stamp Daisy Dream. It's been stamped on heavy weight watercolor paper (Canson Montval) with the help of a stamp platform, then colored with Zig Clean Color brush pens and a Zig Detailer. I flicked some green ink onto the background for some interest.

The sentiment is also new from the set Love Big. I wish I had used my stamp platform for it as I didn't get a perfect impression with it using a clear block but as you know, once the block is lifted you get what you get! I just don't usually use the platform for sentiments.

I also couldn't resist the cute butterflies die set Soaring from the recent release. Die cut using white card stock then I inked them up with distress ink. I decided to add some lace to the right side. This is a sticky back lace I've had for some time. Some May Arts jute twine and sticky pearls finish off the card.

You have until Friday to join us for this challenge. The linky tool can be found on the challenge blog (linked at the beginning of the post). Hope to see you there!

Blue Orchids and Embellished Butterfly with some Stenciling

Hello and welcome! It's time for my weekly Allsorts challenge card share, this week we have Lorraine (Lolo)  hosting and she picked the theme of "Embellish It". There are two prizes this week, one will be a £10 gift voucher to Crafty Ribbons and then we have a second prize of a Sizzix die for a second winner. Hope you'll play along with us!

And here is my card:

I went with a CAS- ish style here but with a little bit of stenciling and inked edges.

The pretty orchid stamp is from the Penny Black set Happy Together. Stamped once on this card front, then again on a scrap piece of white card stock so I could fussy cut the larger blossoms and leaves to adhere to the card over the script stamping. I colored with Copic markers

On the background I used part of Stampin Up's French Script stamp with Antique Linen ink. Then adhered the butterfly which I embellished with some sticky rhinestones. This butterfly is part of Penny Black's Flowing Butterfly die, I only wanted to use one of the butterflies so I trimmed it off after die cutting. It's been cut out white card stock but I inked it with Blueprint Sketch ink.

Stickles glitter was placed in the flower centers for some more sparkle. Then I used the tile stencil from this Stampers Anonymous set, also with Blueprint Sketch ink. Before adhering the card front to the base, I used one of Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches dies.

The sentiment is from the PB set Happy Wishes

Thanks so much for visiting!

Penny Black Critters, A PSX Sunflower, Twine and Burlap Paper

Hello and welcome!

It's Saturday and that means it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge, and since today is the 18th I am also sharing my midmonth inspiration card for Stamping Sensations! Great prizes at both challenges so hopefully you will join us for your chance to win!

Our prize at Allsorts challenge comes from Stamp Addicts where you can win a voucher to their shop. At Stamping Sensations we have a prize from  Crafting.co.uk, the winner will receive a fabulous mixed media kit as well as some rice papers. And then we also have a second prize of 3 craft stencils.

At Allsorts Brenda is hosting and she would like to see any real animal or creature

This one had me worried a bit as I first thought it had to be a realistic animal as seen in nature, and not the cute style animals often seen on stamps, but then quickly realized the "real" is just to note that the animals and creatures can't be fantasy.

I decided to use this cute Penny Black stamp from the set Critter Fun
It's been stamped onto Bristol Vellum using Versafine Onyx ink and colored using Zig Clean Color markers and some Distress ink. The sentiment is also by Penny Black from the set Happy Wishes

I used an old Whimsy Stamps Hexagon die (alternative options) to cut it out. Patterned papers are old from my stash and before adhering to the card front, I tied some natural jute  twine around the card. Oh, and I also inked the edges using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. Some Wink of Stella glitter was brushed over the butterflies' and bees' wings.

Onto my second card for Stamping Sensations where our theme is: Stamp of the Moment. Still plenty of time to join us if you haven't already or if you'd like to submit a second or third entry.

It's equally hard for me to pick a "stamp of the moment" as it is to pick  a "favorite stamp", it might be easier for those who shop for new stamps frequently but I haven't bought any new stamps for quite some time.

But during this time of year I am drawn to sunflowers and the color yellow so I picked my favorite sunflower stamp which is an oldie by PSX.  This stamp includes a stem and small flowers too but I fussy cut only the large flower to use on today's card. You might find the exact stamp on eBay otherwise this Sunflower stamp by Deep Red would be an alternative option and there are plenty of sunflower stamps currently available.

Related Products:

Stamped onto Bristol Vellum, then colored with Zig Clean Color markers.

To make the background I taped some painter's tape on the edges then inked with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide, next I stamped Stampin Up's French Script (old, but usually available on eBay) before removing the painter's tape.

I added a piece of burlap cloth paper and Jute twine around the card before adhering the flower.

Sentiment is from the Penny Black set Blooming Sentiments

Below is a picture of a sunflower from my garden I took about 3 weeks ago that inspired my card a little bit :-)

Paper Pieced Poppies for "A Challenge for Kath" at Allsorts

Hello and welcome!

This week at Allsorts challenge we are dedicating the challenge to Kath, our dear team member who sadly passed away a few weeks ago. This week would have been her challenge week and she had picked the theme of "Favorite Stamps". We're still keeping her theme, but have decided to celebrate her style of crafting by including an option of her favorite style: Favorite Stamps with Option of Paper Pieced Flowers. Hope you will join us this week for Kath's challenge. We have some wonderful prizes to give away which I will tell you more about at the end of this post. There are quite a few prizes.

This post may include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links. As always, this is at no cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting this blog!

For my card I used one of my favorite poppy stamps from the set Blooming Garden by Penny Black.

I started out by flicking some distress inks onto the background of Bristol Vellum paper. After this was dry, I stamped the flower onto the paper, and stamped again on patterned paper then fussy cut the blossoms. For some added interest I paper pierced and distressed the edges. My paper piercing template is very old, from Stampin Up. There may be something similar available on Amazon.

The sentiment is from the Stampin Up set Touches of Ink which I was lucky enough to win. It was stamped and die cut using a simple Nestabilities circle die, then adhered onto the card with foam tape

I wanted to layer the image panel onto the same red patterned paper, but I think I must have used my last bit of that paper because I could  not find any more of it. So instead I picked a script patterned paper which works just as well. I did choose a red card base (vs white - had I used red patterned paper), but before adhering to the base, I stapled a couple strips of paper onto the image panel for some more interest.

As mentioned, here are the prizes we have this week at Allsorts:

A pretty floral Woodware stamp from Craft Stash, one of Kath's favorite places to shop.

Next a winners choice of four digital images from Ruth Hamilton Design

A £12 voucher for digital images from the winners choice of store. It has been been kindly donated by one of Kath's crafting friends who wanted to stay anonymous.

Canary Bird Rose was Kath's favourite CB stamp, this will be for a winner who follows the Paper Pieced Flowers option.

Kath loved her DP's so there had to be some for a prize, this is an 8x8 pad.

Another prize kindly donated by a friend of Kath's who also wished to remain anonymous.

You can find the link up on the challenge blog, and remember you may enter up to 3 different times for more chances to win! Anyone is welcome to join us in this special challenge for Kath.

Thanks so much for visiting!
