Allsorts Challenge 466 and Papercrafters' Linky Party 14

Good morning! How has your week been? We're having some summery weather here in Illinois (almost seems like spring has missed us),  my Magnolia tree (that I planted last year) is finally blooming, but unfortunately the squirrels decided to steal some of the buds, and since the tree is still small there aren't many left. Silly animals ... But the blossoms do smell delicious so who can blame them :0)

It's Saturday so it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge, as well as the new Papercrafters' Linky Party. If you're new to my blog, please note - these are two separate things, and the theme I am posting about is just for Allsorts challenge. The Papercrafters' Linky Party is always anything goes...it's just a fun feature here on my blog for papercrafters to share any papercraft they recently made.
Anyway...if you are here to join in the "Anything Goes" Papercrafters' Linky Party, you can find the linky tool at the end of this post.

This week at Allsorts challenge Mervi is our host and she wants to see "Fancy Folds". This is always one of the most challenging things for me to create ... I just don't do fancy folds a lot, but had fun looking through the internet until I finally just decided on a "gate fold" card. I know it's nothing spectacular but it's not an ordinary card fold so I hope it counts :)

Above is the card  closed up. I used some pretty designer papers from Prima Marketing (I am sure the pack I used isn't available anymore, but I think all their packs are so pretty and  currently (as I type this)  on sale at Scrapbook.com . I made a sliding closure band with a simple strip of card stock, glued together in the middle and finished off with a large prima flower I've had forever.

Here is the card opened up.

The cute hedgehog stamp is Penny Black's "Message from Above". I think this has been retired by Penny Black but you might still find it at some online shops or ebay. I heat embossed on Bristol Vellum card stock using  Versafine Onyx ink  and clear embossing powder. Coloring was done with Zig Clean Color markers. I decided to decorate the sides a little bit too by adding some clouds (I made a stencil with a sticky note and cloud dies (similar), placed the clouds on the white paper and then inked with tumbled glass distress ink. After removing the cloud masks, the white puffy clouds were revealed. I used the grass from the Penny Black set  Enjoy Life to add some stamped grass to the card. The little butterflies are also from a penny black set, but it got separated from the set and I am not sure which set it belongs to.

In case you'd like to know... I started out with a  8.5 inches x 4.25 inches card stock, scored at both ends at 2 1/8th inches and then folded it. I cut the panels slightly shorter to fit with little border around. My card is a 4.25 inch square when closed.

There isn't really any room for a message inside the card so I added a mini envelope to the back of the card. I think this is a cute way to include a little message

The envelope was made with an old envelope die by Whimsy Stamps and no longer available. If you're interested in making your own envelopes of various sizes, then you might like the Envelope Punch Board  by We R Memories Keepers. I haven't personally used this tool, but heard many good things about it.

All About Pets and Papercrafters' Linky Party 13

Happy Saturday! I hope you are enjoying some nice spring weather. We've had a beautiful spring week, trees are finally beginning to bloom and the birds have not stopped singing. It's about time!!!

Saturday means we have a new challenge for you at the Allsorts challenge blog, and it also means a new Linky has been posted at the end of this post for Papercrafters' Linky Party. Remember at Papercrafters' Linky Party anything papercrafts goes, it's just  fun feature here on my blog for papercrafters to share what they've been creating so it can be new or recently made. If you'd like to share something simply scroll down to the end of this post.

At Allsorts challenge,  Brenda is our host this week and she picked the theme of "All About Pets" in honor of National Pets Awareness Month (in the UK), so this can be cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, rabbits, canaries, fish, maybe even horses or donkeys...and many more!

Of course I had to use one of my cat stamps, I've actually had this stamp for some time now (maybe 2 years) but never used it. Hard to believe, but there are so many stamps to use and only so many hours in a day. Glad I finally got it out because it's sooooo cute!!!!

The image from the set Critter Time has been heat embossed on Bristol Vellum paper using Versafine onyx ink and clear embossing powder, then watercolored with my Zig Clean Color brush markers. The sky and grass portion were also watercolored with these markers, then I used a stamp from the set Enjoy Life by Penny Black to stamp the grass using Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. The trees were diecut using Penny Black's die Beneath the Birches die set and I inked them with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. I added some leaves which were punched using an old Martha Stewart punch and a few prima flowers secured with brads finish off the card. Sentiment is one of the stickers from Tim Holtz'  Quotations Stickers Set.  I wanted to leave a white border so I just used Bristol Vellum paper again as my card base.

Papercrafters' Linky Party & Allsorts Challenge

Good Morning!
It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and new linky at my Papercrafters Linky Party (the linky for the linky party is at the end of this post and as always anything papercrafts goes).

At Allsorts challenge Helene is our host this week and she wants to see pearls on our creations. We have a great prize to give by Marianne Designs, come join us for a chance to win!

I made a clean and simple card using the Penny Black stamp set Sunny Wishes (currently still available in my Etsy shop brand new). The image has been stamped on Xpress it blending card using Memento Tuxedo Ink and I colored with copic markers (B000, B02, BV000, Y000, Y02, Y15, C7, YG00) all available at Blick Art Materials as singles. To fit in with our "Pearls" theme at Allsorts, I used little sticky pearls on each flower center. I added a few extra butterflies which were stamped separately and cut out. Wink of Stella glitter was applied to all the butterflies to make them sparkle, but it's not really showing up on the photos. Sentiment is from the set Heartfelt also by Penny Black. Stampin Up card stock and Neenah linen textured 80lb cardstock were then used for framing/ card base.

A close  up below...

Allsorts Challenge 463 and New Papercrafters' Linky Party

Good morning and thanks so much for stopping by! It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts, and as always the linky for this week's Papercrafters' Linky Party has been posted at the end of this post, so do scroll down if you'd like to share a papercraft at the Linky Party this week.

It's my turn again this week to host the Allsorts challenge and fitting for the month of April I chose the theme of Spring Flowers or Showers. (Please note: this theme is for Allsorts challenge, not my Linky Party where it's always Anything Papercrafts!)

I did some inking and  masking for today's card on glossy card stock. A home made mask was used to create the hill, a mix of blue inks were used for the sky. The silhouette girl image is from a retired set by Stampin Up (Million Dollar Moments). I've heat embossed it using versamark ink and detail embossing powder. The plants around the image are all from the Penny Black set "Sprigs" and the sentiment is from the retired Stampin Up set Summer by the Sea.  The raindrops and little flowers are from the same set Million Dollar Moments by Stampin Up. I decided to add a few extra blooms, punched with Stampin Up's old flower trio punch using pink card stock.

We're giving away two wonderful stamps to one lucky winner this week at Allsorts, I hope you'll come play along with us for your chance to win. All challenge details can be found HERE on the Allsorts challenge blog

Allsorts Challenge & Papercrafters' Linky Party

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!
I am sharing my card for the new Allsorts challenge today, and I also posted the new linky tool for this week's Papercrafters' Linky Party. Remember, you may share any new or recently made papercraft at Papercrafters' Linky Party (anything papercrafts goes).

We do have a fun theme at Allsorts challenge, chosen by Kath - Be There or Be Square. This means that you have to make a square card and any image should be square, no circles or ovals. I hope you'll decide to play along at Allsorts with this fun theme for your chance to win a fabulous prize! We're giving away a fun set of dies this week.

I decided to make a clean and simple card for today, but I ended up with technical difficulties so it wasn't that simple after all :)

You may be wondering what my difficulties could have possibly been with this card...well, the painter's tape I wanted to use for masking kept tearing parts of the cards stock off as I removed it after inking up the square. I really wanted the yellow square to be larger, so I kept trying with the same tape but even though I tried to remove some of the sticky-ness before using it on my card, I still had the same problem. So after wasting time and 3 pieces of paper, I decided to use the wider tape, so the yellow square is smaller. I guess it still works, just now how I imagined it.

I used Mustard Seed Ink distress ink to ink up the square and stenciled a design onto the square before removing the masking tape. The flowers from the Penny Black set Blooming Garden were stamped on Xpress it blending card and copic markers were used for coloring, then I cut out the flowers using Cutterbee scissors. After removing the painter's tape I stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black set Sprinkles and Smiles using Versafine Onyx ink. Matted on a white Neenah Solar Crest card base to finish off the card.  A little bit of Wink of Stella clear glitter was used on the flower centers.

The colors of my card were inspired by the current TIME OUT Challenges from this pretty picture with the main colors of yellow, white and light blue and some green.
