A Bunch of Flowers for Allsorts Challenge

Happy Saturday, it's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge! Lynn is hosting this week and her optional theme is..."A Bunch of Flowers"! We'd love for you to follow the option but of course any of your new crafty things are welcome, so hopefully you'll join in with us this week for a chance to win or to be selected for the top 5!  It's your last chance to play for the June prizes which come from Sizzix, AALL and Create, Aldridge Crafts, Lavinia and Ruth Hamilton Design and will be announced this Friday, June 30th!!

And here is my card share:

I combined 2 Penny Black stamps to create this joyful scene - Poppy Field and Spontaneous Joy. This hedgie was one of my very first Penny Black stamps and he's still a favorite. The sentiment is also from Penny Black from the set Blooming Sentiments, which is perfect for all kinds of floral/garden themed creations. Inked the edges with Distress ink and then stamped my old French Script around the edges. It's a one layer card adhered to a white card base.

I Spy With My Little Eye: A Sweet Treat or Warm and Sunny Colors (Challenges 4 and 5 Combined)

Hello everyone! Pauline and I are back again with a new "I spy with my little eye" challenge taking place right here on my blog!

Before I get to the new theme I wanted to mention that this is a "double challenge" to cover part of the Summer so it is for challenges #4 and #5 combined. The linky tool will remain open until August 13th and a new theme will then start on August 16th!

We had some fabulous entries in the last challenge so be sure to scroll down to the end to see if your entry made one of our top 2! Remember, the top picks are invited to join us as guest designers in a future challenge!

So here are our themes for challenges 4 and 5. Choose one or the other or even combine.

I spy with my little eye.....................

A Sweet Treat (chosen by Ellie)

or

Warm and Sunny Colors (chosen by Pauline)

And here are our shares for your inspiration:

My card (Ellie)
following the "Sweet Treat" theme

Can you spy the sweet treat??
This cute stamp is a Mo Manning stamp for Penny Black - Oh My Goodness. I thought it was perfect for the theme.  Stamped on Bristol Vellum paper and I colored with Stampin Up and Distress Inks and I used one of my most used stencils - Feather Leaf by Lavinia on the background. Sentiment on the tag is an oldie from Whimsy Stamps. I used a tag die (options) to cut it out and tied it onto the card using natural jute twine. Another stencil (classy stripes) was used on the top pink border with the same coral Stampin Up ink. I added another small sentiment which is part of a Colorado Craft Company stamp set. A corner rounder was used to complete the card.

Blooms, Bees or Butterflies

It's Saturday already and time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. It's my turn to host this week and I selected the optional theme of Blooms, Bees and/or Butterflies. Hope you'll join in with us, I would love to see you follow the optional theme but all entries are welcome whether they follow the theme or not!

For my card I decided to dig through my box of rejects that I usually save "just in case" and I'm so lucky I did too, as my lost Hero Arts "tiny footprints in the sand" stamp from a beach themed stamp set fell right onto my lap when I pulled one of the pieces out. I surely didn't expect to ever find that stamp as it's truly tiny. So if you have a lost stamp never give up hope as it might show up in the most unexpected moment.

The yellow inked piece is from that box of extras. It's a textured piece of Neenah card stock which had been inked with some yellow Distress ink and stencils were used as well. The bee and scalloped circle were also previously die cut from my other box of die cut extras. The bee is a stamp from an older Hero Arts stamp kit. I kept the card in a CAS style by simply assembling it onto an embossed background.

The sentiment is an oldie from Penny Black but new-ish to me, just purchased within the last couple of months. This is my first time using it.

Another view below..

Hope you'll join us this week!! As a reminder prizes this month come from Sizzix, AALL and Create, Aldridge Crafts, Lavinia and Ruth Hamilton Design, all weekly winners will be announced on June 30th.

Last Saturday my 16 year old had her end of year dance recital. This year they performed a storyline based on the Don Quixote ballet and she was so excited when she was cast as Kitri, the female lead. At one point in mid April we weren't sure if she was able to dance as she had to have one of her big toenails removed and we weren't sure how long she would be out. But she was back on her feet and in pointe shoes after just 2 weeks.

Proud mom moment :-) so I wanted to share 2 photos I took from rehearsal. Sorry they turned out a bit blurry, my camera isn't the best when action is involved... or maybe it's just user error! As you can imagine, it was an absolute joy to watch!

By the way, those of you close to London, UK:  The Royal Ballet will perform Don Quixote later this year!!! And it looks like one of my daughter's favorite professional ballet dancers is performing as Kitri, Marianela Nunez. If you love ballet but haven't seen Don Quixote yet, I recommend it!! How I wish I could take her to see it!!!

A Masculine Card with a Touch of Vintage

Today is the start of a new theme at Allsorts challenge. It's Dena's week to host and she would like to see "Birthday Cards" but as usual there is the option of "Anything Goes" so all your new crafty makes are welcome and all will be entered into the prize drawing.

I decided to make masculine birthday card using one of Tim Holtz's stamp sets - The Journey. The background was done with Distress inks and 3 stencils (clock, stripes and crackle). The text stamp, small clock and classic car are all part of the stamp set. Sentiment is from a Penny Black critter set. I love this font for masculine cards.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - June Challenge

Hello and welcome to the June Crafty Wednesday challenge taking place right here on my blog. I'm so glad you stopped by and hope you'll link up your crafty makes too! There were many fabulous entries last month, thank you all so much for sharing!! Be sure to scroll down to see who made the Top picks with a twist.

As always at Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday the theme is now.....................

Anything Goes,

and instead of a challenge theme there will be a "Top Pick Twist" but nobody knows what the twist will be (not even me) until the challenge closes as it will be inspired by YOUR creations. So do link up all your new or recently created projects for a chance to be featured. Remember, you may share anything crafty, handmade by you. It doesn't have to be a card.

And here is my card:

A CAS card this time using an older wood mounted Penny Black stamp - Long Stem Cuties (no. 1648K). This stamp was re-released as a clear stamp but it's smaller in size in case you are wondering. The clear stamp set version is called "...For You Mini" (no. 30-801).

Stamped with Versafine Onyx ink on Canson watercolor paper, then colored with Zig Clean color and Distress inks. The flower border on the bottom was part of a patterned paper and I finished it off by adding some paper piercing. Pink card stock was made with Saltwater taffy Distress Oxide ink and then mounted onto a white card base. "Hello" and "Beautiful" are from two different stamp sets from my stash.

A Die Cut Orchid for Allsorts Challenge

Happy Saturday! We have a new challenge for you at Allsorts. It's Sarah's turn to host this week and she picked the optional theme of "Die Cuts". Hope you will join us this week for your chance at a prize or to be selected in the Top 5. There's always the Anything Goes option too if dies aren't your thing. Prizes for this month's challenges are from Sizzix, AALL and Create, Aldridge Crafts, Lavinia and Ruth Hamilton Design and the winners will be announced on June 30th. They will be drawn from the weekly entries, so you don't need to join us every week in order to have a chance at winning.

And here is what I made:

This beautiful die by Penny Black was gifted to me by Brenda some time ago (thanks again Brenda). It is Gentle Whisper II. When I first received it I thought it would coordinate with PB's Gentle Whisper stamp but the die is at a smaller scale so while it's the same look it won't cut out the stamp. However it's so beautiful and doesn't need a matching stamp to make a beautiful card with and I love the size as it fits my most made card size of  A2 so well!

Related Products:

I die cut it three times using snippets of white card stock to create some dimension with the blossoms (see photo above for a better view at the dimension). I used Distress Oxide inks for inking. The inky background was in my box of "extras" previously done also with Distress Oxides. I used one my trusty old Whimsy border stamps on the side (sorry it's no longer available).

The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Love Big stamped on another snippet and cut out. There are more words on this sentiment I only used parts of it. I then finish it off with a punched butterfly. I used an inky snippet previously inked to punch it out. Finally I have something in a timely manner to join in the snippets playground where Sarn invites us to play hop scotch or the jump rope. I do like both but think I'll be safer at hopscotch :) Can see myself tripping over that rope LOL so hopscotch it is :)

Four Seasons Challenge June - Summertime!!

Hello everyone and happy June!! A new month means the start of a new challenge at the Four Season challenge blog and it's time to switch seasons! We are now celebrating Summer for the next 3 challenges! That means Anything Summer goes but of course there is a fabulous mood board to inspire you which is totally optional.

As usual the mood board helped inspire my card and as you can see below I used the top left image for inspiration. I used a mix of brands here, the bicycle was part of a Hero Arts stamp kit from a few years ago, the sand/shells are from an old Stampin Up set and the Palm tree die is another oldie by Provo Craft and came with a matching embossing folder. The birds were part of another set by Hero Arts also a few years old.

Here is the mood board in case you need a little inspiration for your next creation.

Before building the scene I used painter's tape to mask the edges, then used distress ink to ink up the background. Sentiments are from one of Tim Holtz's sticker sentiment sets - an older one. The tiny flowers were done with a Martha Stewart punch and you guessed it, it's another oldie.

Related Products:

I struggled a bit lining up the palm tree exactly with the embossing folder and inking it up was a bit tricky too. I almost left it white but I managed somehow on my 3rd try LOL. Does anyone else get stressed out when making cards or am I the only one??  I also wanted to use a white fence which is part of the mood board image but the die was nowhere to be found!

We'd love to see you joining us with your Summer themed creations wether you use the mood board or not! The challenge ends on June 25th so there is plenty of time.
