Allsorts 456 and Papercrafters' Linky party4

Hello everyone, thanks so much for visiting! Are you ready for a fun challenge? We're playing "I Spy" this week at Allsorts ...I spy something beginning with B. Super fun theme chosen by Brenda. I hope you'll join in the fun, so many choices here!! Also, the linky for the Papercrafters Linky Party has been posted, and you can find my top pick from last week and the new linky at the end of this post as well. Don't forget - Anything Papercrafts Goes at Papercrafters Linky party.

To make my card I first inked up an  acrylic block using Zig Clean Color real brush pens. I  simply scribbled the makers on top of the block, spritzed with water and then stamped the block onto Strathmore Bristol Vellum cardstock. I let the ink dry before stamping the boat using versafine onyx ink. The boat and wheel stamps are both from Just for Fun Rubberstamps. The sentiment is an old retired one from Stampin Up. The wheel was stamped using Distress ink Broken China. I finished off the card by tying some May Arts Natural Burlap twine around the card.

I also made another quick and easy card (couldn't stop playing "I spy something beginning with B" :)

For this card my "B" is a butterfly. I used the Tim Holtz Mixed Media Butterflies Stamps and Stencil Set by Stampers Anonymous. I used this same set on Tuesday's card, if you missed that card an would like to see another way of using this set, you can see it HERE. To make this card I inked a piece of Neenah Solar white 80lb card stock using Distress Ink Evergreen Bough (the same ink I used on Tuesday's card), then placed one of the stencil patterns (which is part of the stamp set) onto the card stock and added a little more of the same ink to create a design. Using the same ink again, I stamped the sentiment, butterfly and hearts. Distressed the edges using a distressing toolthen matted with black card stock and distressed those edges as well. To finish off this card I added a sticker sentiment from Tim Holtz's Metallic Quotations set. This was then adhered to a white Neenah card base.

At Allsorts challenge we have two wonderful prizes to give away this week....sponsored by Tattered Lace  and Sizzix.  I hope you'll come join us there for a chance to win! And definitely lots of choices this week to join us, following our "I spy" theme. Be sure to visit the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team chose for their "B".

Happy Tuesday!
I have another unscheduled post today, I purchased a couple new stamp sets and found some time this weekend to get inky. The card was quick to make too. We actually had a 4 day weekend, and had no plans as my daughter and son were both recovering from what is probably the flu. My daughter was the last one to catch it and I still have her home today. She felt better to go to school this morning but she still has too many symptoms (sneezing, runny nose, some coughing) and with how bad the flu season is this year I decided to keep her home today so she doesn't get anyone else sick. My kids do hate missing school though as they know they will have to work harder to catch up on what they missed.

The stamp set I used on today's card is Tim Holtz Mixed Media Butterflies Stamps and Stencil Set by Stampers Anonymous. I just love the versatility of the set and what a great sentiment! So inspiring! I actually made another quick card with it, but I am keeping that one for Saturday's Allsorts challenge post.

I started out by inking an acrylic block with Distress Ink Evergreen Bough,  spritzing the block with water and then using it to stamp directly onto Strathmore Bristol Vellum card stock. Next I used my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp the verse and butterfly using Versafine Onyx Ink  (after making sure the distress ink was dry - I used a heating tool to speed up the drying process.) After cleaning off the black ink from the butterfly, I inked it up again using Evergreen Bough distress ink and then stamped it twice over the sentiment panel (only inking once). I have also used a paint brush to add a little bit of ink splatter to the background.

The edges were distressed using a distressing tool, but this can easily be done with a pair of scissors. Mounted onto black card stock, distressed again then adhered onto a card base. The card base is one of Stampin Up's in-color (Bermuda Bay - not sure if it is still available). A couple of sticky pearlswere placed onto the butterfly body. I've also used one side of the stencil that was included with this stamp set on the watercolor piece, I just sponged a little bit of the same ink to give it a subtle texture.

Penny Black and More - Midmonth Post

Click here if you are here for the Papercrafters' Linky Party.

Happy Sunday! I'm back again with my card for the Penny Black & More challenge mid-month post, where our theme for February is "Love, Hearts and Flowers". There is still a little bit of time to join us this month if you haven't entered already or if you'd like to join in again. We have some wonderful prizes to give away.....

I wanted to join the Flower challenge this month where the theme is Paper Piecing and I used Karen's (Flower challenge DT member) idea to use a piece of inked card stock for my paper piecing. I had this piece (it was in form of a tag) laying in a box of scraps from when I was playing with my inks, and decided to use it for these flowers. You can see Karen's beautiful card here.

To start I first masked off a 4 inch square piece of card stock and inked using Mustard Seed distress ink. After removing the mask I stamped the image using my Tonic Studios Stamp Platform. The stamp is by Penny Black Demure and was stamped using Versamark onyx ink. The blooms were stamped a second time on the inked tag then fussy cut. I don't remember anymore which colors of distress inks I used, but I did flick some water over the tag to activate the ink and create the blotchy look. A stamp from the Whimsy set Basic Backgrounds and Borders was used for the words on the yellow background. Sorry no link, Whimsy Stamps must have retired the set. But this can be done with any cling or clear script type set, simply ink parts of the stamp and bend it for stamping to control where you want the words to be. To finish off the card I stamped a sentiment from the Penny Black set So Very Much added the word "with" from another little stamp. Framed and mounted onto Stampin Up card stock.

Allsorts Challenge 455 and Papercrafters' Linky Party 3

Happy Saturday everyone, and thanks so much for stopping by! Saturday means it's time for a new challenge at Allsorts as well as a new linky party here on my blog. At Allsorts Helene wants us to use Handmade Flowers on our creations, and as always, for the Papercrafters' Linky Party, the theme is simply Anything Papercrafts, and you can find the linky at the end of this post where I have also posted last week's top choice.

For my card today I decided to use the die set Pinwheel by Penny Black along with some stamps by Stampin Up (Butterfly Basics, Canvas background stamp, French Script background stamp) and the sentiment is from the set  Sprinkles and Smiles by Penny Black. I used some washi tape to mask off the edges before inking with  Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads Mowed Lawn and Broken China. Before stamping the leaf and floral stamp by Stampin Up I removed the washi tape. The flowers were die cut using my Sizzix Big Shot machine, folded them in half and stuck a dimentional glue dot in between to keep the top petals down, then I used some Seedless Preserves Distress ink for inking the blooms.  A 1/2 inch circle punch and black card stock was used for the flower center which I attached with a glue dot. Card stock is by Neenah.
This week at Allsorts challenge we are sponsored by StickerYou who are offering a $65 gift certificate to the lucky winner. I hope you'll come play along with us for a chance to win!

Hedgehog Valentines

I spent some time yesterday completing two Valentines card I made for the kids and finished just in time to share today.

First up is the card I made for my son. I went with a kraft, red and white color combo with a touch of black. I love these colors for Valentines day and I think they fit a masculine type card well.
Love this cute hedgehog stamp. The little guy is from the set "Share a Hug". He's been stamped onto
Copic Xpress it Blending Card and colored using Copic markers.

By the way, if you're looking to add a few single copics to your supplies, BLICK ART MATERIALS has them listed at $5.25 each plus 10% off if your order is $49 or more. Also free shipping at $35. They also carry sets and single colors of Zig Clean Color brush pens if you're looking to add some of those to your collection.

I cut out the heart circle using an the Avery Elle Heart Frame die. Sentiments are mostly by Penny Black, the "you make me smile" was done with a little wood mounted stamp, then I used postmarks from the set Posted with Love by Penny Black, the little xoxo is from the set Snippets, and then finally the "Happy Valentines Day" is an old stamp by Stampin Up. I added a couple of eyelets, I know, totally not "in style" - do they even still sell those LOL, but I have plenty of them and thought they fit the card well. I put some natural jute twine through the eyelet holes and tied a bow. The striped patterned paper is from a 6x6 paper pack by DCWV, it was purchased at Joann's Craft and Fabric. The polka dotted "paper" is actually washi tape.

With this card I am playing along here:

The card above I made for my daughter using shades of black, gray and pink. Colored again with copic markers on Xpress it blending card. The papers are by Authentique, a 6x6 pack I picked up at Hobby Lobby over a year ago. It's a double sided paper pack. I used the same Happy Valentines Day by SU  I used on the first card, the little "You make me Smile" is from the set Snippets. I love that I can just bend the clear sets, place on an acrylic block and then stamp onto the circle. Oh, and the litte hedgehog is from the set  Furry Affection by Penny Black. I added a white silk ribbon bow to finish off the card.

If you're wondering what card I am giving to my husband, you can see it in the photo below, the one on the right side. The one on the left was given to me by my husband (then boyfriend) on our very first Valentines Day 20 years ago. I thought it was totally funny how he crossed out wife and replace with girlfriend. And here we are 20 years later and this card caught my eye at Walmart. I almost put it back because it said "boyfriend" but then remembered the card he gave me and I decided that it was perfect. I think he's going to love it!

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you're having a great day. I am about to get ready to bake some Valentines cupcakes for my loves :)
