Allsorts Challenge 524/525: Feminine

Hello and welcome! Today's card was made for our new theme at Allsorts challenge. Lynn's turn to host and she picked the theme of "Feminine". We're still running on a 2 week schedule so there is plenty of time for you to join us for your chance to win! Our prize this week comes from Swedish House Crafts.

I made a tall card (approx. 4.5 x 6.75 inchs) for the challenge and kept it mainly CAS, although my first thought was to stamp the image again, color and fussy cut. But once I had the image stamped onto my inked card stock I actually liked the CAS look of just the black white and pink and decided to leave it this way.

Related Products:

To get a perfect rectangle I used painter's tape around the edges, inked with SpunSugar and Worn Lipstick distress inks, then used a brick stencil to add the brick design. After removing the painters tape I stamped the image and sentiment from the 2 piece Penny Black set Birthday Balloons with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink using my Tonic Stamp Platform. I framed the card onto a white 110 lb card base and finsished it by adding sticky rhinestones.

I'm playing along with these challenges:
Simon Says Wednesday - CAS // Double D Challenges - Rhinestones // TIME OUT Challenges  - Fashionable // CAS on Friday - Use a Stencil // Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Anything Goes //

Thanks so much for visiting!! As always I really appreciate your comments!

Imagine That Playground Guest

Hello and Welcome!
Last month I was one of the Top Two winners of "Imagine That Creative Playground" and along with the prize comes an opportunity to be a guest designer for the following month's challenge. Today I am sharing two cards made with one of the sets I chose, and then I will have another share using the second set I selected on May 16th when the mid month challenge inspiration is posted on their blog. By the way, the theme is "Anything Goes" and I am sure the "Imagine That Playground" team would love for you to join in!

Would you believe I didn't own a wedding stamp set already!! This one was perfect! The set is called Wedding Day. The image has been colored with copic markers on Xpress It blending card. The sentiment is part of the set. I just love the font of this sentiment. The card is mostly CAS. After coloring the image I added an Art Deco type frame which was part of this Hero Arts stamp kit, cut out with shiny silver card stock from the same kit. Pearls were added as embellishments and I mounted the card front on a Dove White 100lb card base.

Related Products:

For the second card I printed out the sentiment (which is also part of the Wedding Day set) on Vellum paper. While the ink was still wet, I sprinkled gold embossing powder over it and heat embossed. I wasn't sure if this was going to work, but it did perfectly and you would never know the ink under the gold was black and not versamark ink. The wedding cake from the same set  was printed on Xpress It blending card and I kept it mostly white but added some pink roses using copic markers. Paper strips from my stash and half a paper doily finish off this card. Some pearls were added as embellishments because I think they go so well with wedding themed cards.

I'm also entering these challenges:
Paper Shelter Challenge - Love is in the Air // Double Trouble - Words // Path of Positivity - Happiness // 613 Avenue Create - Weddings

Allsorts Challenge 513: Use Yellow

Hello and welcome! It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. This week Lynn is our host and she chose the theme of "Use Yellow Somewhere". We're having a wonderful prize by Woodware to give away this week to one lucky randomly selected winner. It could be you - but only if you play along :-)

To make my card I followed this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and used this cute image (Baby Fairy Bee) by Mo Manning. I colored it with my Faber Castell Polychromos  pencils on Neenah 80lb card stock. I used a chickenwire stencil for the honeycomb background with Mustard Seed Distress Ink to add some interest to the background. The yellow stripe on the right side was done with Distress inks as well, and I used a dotted stencil (Penny Black Oscillations Stencil) to add a simple design.

Stencils at Scrapbook.com

Sentiment is from the set Label Maker by MFT. This specific set is retired but this one by Altenew is similar and it also comes in a spanish version. I stamped it with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. A button and white cotton twine finish off this CAS card. I also covered the wings with a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush for some sparkle.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - March Challenge

Hello and Welcome to Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday challenge!

It's a new month, that means time for a new theme and I hope you will join in this time!
It was great seeing so many of you playing along last month, seems like the "double theme" was popular and I might continue with two theme choices for a little while. After all, the challenges do run for a whole month so two themes to pick from would be nice! Be sure to scroll down to see if you were last month's prize winner or a top choice. And as always, the linky tool can be found at the end of this post.

This month's themes:

Think Spring or Add Some Green
(of course you may combine the two themes like I did!)

The image from the Penny Black set Sweet Smiles was stamped onto Bristol Vellum paper and I colored using my Faber Castell Polychromos. I trimmed the image panel to an about 3" square and layered over striped vellum paper from my stash. I did find the exact pack I have in an etsy shop, but the seller is located in Malaysia, so shipping might not be fast. Mine was a gift from a neighbor who was visiting Japan several years ago. The butterflies were done with Penny Black's Flowing Butterfly die, which is really 3 butterflies attached to each other but I cut it out twice and trimmed off the smaller one to use on my card. They were cut out of white card stock and I used distress oxide inks Tumbled Glass  and Blueprint Sketch to give them some color. Stickyback pearls were attached to their bodies.
If you look really closely, then you will see that I used a scoring tool to add 5 scor lines behind the image panel for some interest. I used Martha Stewart Scoring Board.

The sentiment is part of the cute set, it's been stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink directly onto the Neenah heavy weight card base.

Challenges I am entering:
AAA - Sentiment plus 3 from wheel (I picked stamped image, coloring and a die cut)
Back to Basics - tic tac toe (Pearls, Flowers, Blue)

One Corner and a little Music - A CAS card

Please click HERE if you are visiting for Ellibelle's Crafty Challenge.

As I was updating Sunday's challenge listings on my blog, I came across the new AAA challenge, (a CAS challenge blog), with the this week's theme of "One corner and option of Music". Their wonderful DT creations inspired me to ink up another stamp from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero February Kit, along with the stencil that was part of the kit.

This card was really quick to make. I inked up the stencil from the February Kit using Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves Distress inks. My first intention was to stamp the dancing couple on another piece of white card stock and use the matching die from this kit to cut it out and adhere to the card with pop up tape. But I decided to see how I liked it stamped directly onto the stencilled background, so using  Versafine Claire Nocturne Ink I stamped the image directly over the stencilled design. I decided I liked it this way, inked up the music notes from this kit and finished off the stamping. Unfortunately the kit didn't have a sentiment I wanted to use on my card, so instead I picked a sticker from Tim Holtz's Quotations Metallic Sticker Set and used it instead of a sentiment stamp. The shiny golden confettis (all 3 I used are gold, although one appears black in the photo) are part of this set, they were glued on with a tiny bit of Mono Multi liquid adhesive.

Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves // Mini Ink Blending Tool

Besides the AAA challenge mentioned above, I am also entering my card at "A Blog Named Hero" challenge where the theme this time is "Love is in the Air" and Dream Valley Challenges wants to see Sparkle and Shine this week. Anything but a square at Addicted to Stamps, and All Occasions at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges

The February Kit is currently still available for purchase if you are interested. Cost is $34.99. Hero Arts does offer free shipping on orders of $50 and More within the United States. Also, Kit subscribers located in the United States always get their kits shipped for free, you can read about Kit Subscriptions HERE. Penny Black and More - February Challenge

Hello everyone, it's time already for Penny Black and More February challenge. We're making it easy for everyone this month, but added an optional theme for those of you that like to be challenged... "Anything Goes (with the option of Tags)". As usual, we have some wonderful prizes to give away, so hope you'll play along with us!

I heat embossed the cute image from  Penny Black Mimi's Love then used my Zig Clean Color Markers for coloring. The large tag was done using a retired die by Whimsy Stamps, then small tag was done with a die from Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches Die Set. The paper is from one of the stacks by DCWV. The sentiment is from Penny Black's set Sweet You. Grosgrain ribbon and jute twine was attached to the tags and Wink of Stella Glitter brushed over most of the image.

Close up below....

And then here is a peek inside.

I used Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches Die Set set again for the layer inside. And I stamped the cute envelope with hearts onto the right bottom corner. This is a stamp from a really old Stampin Up set, I think it's called Greeting Galore,  probably available on Ebay or Etsy.

Thanks so much for visiting!!

Retro Rubber Challenge -Ribbons of Love (image stamp is a few years old and the SU heart stamp is *really* old

Allsort 495: Inspired By A Song

I am back today sharing my card for this week's Allsorts challenge and this time it's Helene's turn to host. She picked the fun theme of "Inspired by a Song". A great prize is up for grabs so hope you'll manage to join us this time.

My card is below, my first intent was to make a Christmas card but changed my mind when I came across the sentiment on my desk :-)  Can you guess what song it made me think of?

"I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston.

I used my Tonic Stamp Platform to ensure a good impression of the pretty stamp Born to Dance by Visible Image, stamped with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. I then used the Rays stencil by Tim Holtz and Broken China ink  to make it appear as if the spotlight is on the dancer. The Stars and Clock (you can see a glimpse of it on the top right) were also stencilled, this time using Spun Sugar  distress ink. After the stencilling was finished, I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black (see my "For Sale" tab at the top of my blog if you're interested in this stamp - I currently still have one available brand new) twice using broken china ink and inked the edges with versamark to add some more silver embossing. Isn't this quote perfect for the stamp?

Scrapbook.com now carries many of the Visible Image brand stamps, and they are currently on sale. Plus, they are currently running their Black Friday Weekend Sale, so there are lots of great deals. You can see all current deals by clicking HERE or simply click on the banner below.

Finally Received my October Hero Arts Kit!!

The month is almost over, I've been (not so) patiently waiting for my October My Monthly Hero kit, and it finally arrived this week. Apparently it was lost ....but I am super excited that it finally arrived! I love the vintage style of these stamps, and the included papers are soooo pretty and sparkly. I almost couldn't bring myself to cut into them!

Here is the first card I made with the kit. For a change I made a "long" card measuring approx. 7" x 4.25".

October My Monthly Hero Kit // Distress Markers // Shabby Shutters Distress Ink // Weathered Wood Distress Ink // Versafine Onyx Ink // Clear Embossing Powder // Neenah Linen Textured Card Stock

I first stamped the tree from the Hero Arts October My Monthly Hero Kit kit using Shabby Shutters distress ink on Bristol Vellum paper. Next I heat embossed the skaters from the set using Versafine Onyx Ink and clear embossing powder, then used the included dies to cut them out with my Big Shot machine. The star is also included in this kit along with a  matching die. Before adhering the skaters to the card, I inked up the bottom part of the card using Weathered Wood distress ink. Then heat embossed the sentiment and framed the card with the pretty, sparkly paper that's comes with the kit.

In the photo below you can see how the paper sparkles, and I used the irridescent watercolor ink which also comes with this kit to make the "ice" sparkle.
This is what's included in this month's kit.

  • 6" x 8" Clear Stamp Set
  • 14 Coordinating Frame Cuts
  • 1 Paper Layering Tree Die with Frame
  • 6 5.5" x 8.5" Sheets of Glitter Paper (Silver, Sea Glass, Twilight)
  • Iridescent Star Embellishments
  • Iridescent Ink 0.5 fl. oz. (shake well)
October Kit Available Now!

This kit is still available at the moment, you can purchase it by clicking HERE.  If you would like to subscribe to the kits and have them auto ship to you every month, you can click here, but just so you know, your subscription will not start with this current kit. If you subscribe by 10/28 then your subscription will start with the November kit.
