Allsorts 482: Music

Happy weekend and thank you for visiting today! It's Saturday so that means we have a new theme at Allsorts challenge, and we are back to our regular - weekly schedule.

This week Wendy picked the fun theme of "Music" and hopefully you'll come play along with us for a chance to win the wonderful prize that's up for grabs this week!

I purchased the ballerina stamp set a few months ago, but haven't had a chance yet to ink it up. This challenge was the perfect opportunity to finally use it. By the way, Scrapbook.com now carries a good amount of the Visible Image stamp line, it's where I purchased mine. Shipping was fast and reasonably priced.

I started out by creating a  watercolor background using distress inks (I used Seedless Preserves and Peacock Feathers Ink). I simply stamped the ink pad on my craft mat, spritzed with water and patted my card stock (I used Bristol Vellum Paper) onto the mat. Let dry and then did the next color. The ballerina was then heat embossed using Versafine Onyx ink and clear embossing powder. As usually with clear or unmounted stamps I used the Tonic Stamp Platform which is very helpful in getting a good impression. If you look really closely, you can see a purple shimmer on the tutu. After heat embossing I  rubbed some Perfect Pearls powder over the tutu. The music background was done with an old stamp by Hero Arts, this stamp would be a similar option. I didn't plan on stamping the music notes with green ink, I went for the same blue/turquoise ink I used for the watercolor background, but apparently I didn't clean off my stamp last time I used it (does anyone else do this??) so it turned out to be green. But I actually like the extra color even though it wasn't planned that way. Next I stamped the words and stars which are also part of the set by Visible Image.
The hearts are from a stamp set by Stampers Anonymous.

My card also fits these challenges:

And I found A LOT of Anything Goes challenges:

Penny Black and More - Midway Reminder

Happy Saturday!  Did you get a chance yet to play "I spy something beginning with B" with us at Penny Black and More challenge? There is still a little bit of time to join in for a chance to win one of the great prizes...This month we have 3 prizes from Penny Black, a gift certificate from Crafts U Love and a stamp by Inkylicious. And remember you can enter up to 3 times for more chances to win!

Here is what I made for today's reminder card, my "B"s this time around are":  Blue Background, Butterfly, Blossoms and Bow ...maybe black label sentiment?

Light Touch Stamp// MFT Label maker Sentiments (retired) - Similar   // French Script BG stamp - Similar // Tumbled Glass Distress Ink // Distress Markers // Silk Ribbon // Bristol Vellum //  Versafine Onyx Ink

I love how easy these brushstroke stamps are to use! I started out by masking the edges of my Bristol Vellum card stock piece, then I stamped an acrylic block which I've inked with Tumbled Glass ink onto the paper. Before removing the mask, I used Stampin Up's French Script background stamp (retired) - this one by Crafty Individuals is similar -  on the background. It's really hard to see in the photo, but you can see the words if you take a close look.

The stamp Light Touch by Penny Black (available brand new in my Etsy shop) was colored with a variety of Distress Markers, spritzed with water and stamped onto the card stock using my Tonic Stamp Platform. This was done after removing the painters tape. The ink was so intense (as you can see on the photo) and stayed wet long enough that I was able to stamp this image 2 more times, getting a shade lighter each time. I haven't made cards yet with those two stamped images, but I am sure they will be used sooner or later.
The label sentiment is by MFT, another retired set. This one by Altenew is similar and it is also available in a Spanish version.  Now if I I only could find a German version of this somewhere!!

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - Midmonth Reminder

Good morning! I found some time to get inky yesterday, so I am able to share another card for this month's "Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday Challenge" here on my blog. This month I selected the theme of

                            "Feature a Creature",

this can be any creature....animal, winged things, mythical creatures etc.

The background was done by simply inking an acrylic block using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, spritzed with water and then stamped on to Bristol Vellum paper. I let this dry then used Versafine Onyx Ink to stamp Song of Joy by Penny Black onto the background. I colored the image using my Zig Clean Color markers and a Detailer brush also by Zig. I used the colors Olive Green, Scarlett Red, Orange and Cobalt Blue for the image. Stardust Stickles glitter was applied to the berries and the star. The sentiment tags were cut out using Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches Die Set and the little sentiment are from Penny Black's set Holiday Snippets. I used some Gold Sparkle Twine to tie the little tags to the card, pop-up glue dots keep them in place.
The scarlett red is more orange-y than I like my berries to be, I might go over them with another Zig marker to make them a deeper shade of red....

I've included an Amazon product list for those of you interested - remember most items qualify for free shipping on orders  of $25 or more.

                            Also sharing my card here:
Cards in Envy - Something New (the stamp is brand new to me)

                            Crafty Sentiment Designs  -  Animals
(sentiments used are a few years old, and although my main stamp is new to me, it's actually an older stamp as well, I am thinking at least 2 - 3 years old). I went with the bottom row - birds, twine and leaves.
                            RRCB 93

Just as a reminder, this month the prize for my challenge is a lot of 3 Christmas themed rubber stamps.

Allsorts 480/481: From Boys to Men

Good morning! Happy Saturday! It's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge ... this week our theme is "From Boys to Men". We have a fabulous prize to give away by Marianne Design, so do come and play along for a chance to win. Remember, our challenges are still running for 2 weeks, do give everyone a little extra time to play along!

Masculine cards are never easy for  me, but I had fun with this one creating this Western scene.

I am so not good with scenery type cards, but I love them and want to get better at it. I started out by tearing some printer paper to create masks. I kept the masks in place on my white card front with painters tape while inking. After the inking was complete I stamped the Cowboy Silhouette image using Versafine Onyx ink. I wanted some sort of grass in  the foreground so Penny Black's set  Enjoy Life was perfect for this. The edges of my inked panel were wiped with the black ink pad as well to create a little bit of  a black border. Next I punched out the circle using kraft card stock, added a strip of striped paper and finished off with a sticky sentiment from Tim Holtz Sticker Quotes set. Some May Arts Jute twinecompletes the card front. I framed with kraft card stock then mounted onto a Neenah linen textured  card base.

                            Also sharing my card here:

Stinkin' Inkers -  Steamed Heat (anything Summer related)
Tuesday Throwdown  - Anything Goes this week

                            Bring on the Happy

I spent some time working on a few design team projects the other day and decided to practice my scenery inking. I love cards with scenes but they are not easy for me to make ....
I ended up with two scenery type cards, but only sharing one today, the other one is something for my Saturday design team post. Although they both include some sort of mountains, the other one is completely different.

I tore some printer paper in shape of mountains to create my mask. For this card I used my Pan Pastels for the background. I have the "pure color" set, so the colors are a bit brighter, but the set does come with white so I was able to mix the gray with white to create a lighter shade. I am thinking about purchasing the Landscape set or maybe just some single colors...

The cute image is from the set Hello Friend by Penny Black, heat embossed on Bristol Vellum paper, colored with my Zig Clean Color markers and then fussy cut to add to the scene. If you guessed that I messed up when stamping the sentiment, you guessed correctly...of course that happened after my scene was complete and I was about to through the card out. But luckily I thought of a way to save the card, by stamping the sentiment again on white card stock, masking off the first part of the sentiment and then using a circle punch to punch out the "happy". I adhered the circle with dimensionals. And the bird was stamped there to cover up another little smudge. He is part of the set Spread Cheer by Penny Black. I think the circle cutout and the bird actually look really nice in the design, although not originally planned :)

The road pattern was done with Penny Black's Oscillations Stencil. The grass was stamped using one of the stamps from Penny Black's set Nature's Gifts and Shabby Shutters Distress ink

I am sharing in these challenges:
Tuesday Throwdown Anything Goes this week
Paper Shelter Challenge - Anything Goes
Pause Dream Enjoy- ATGoes this week
As You Like It Challenge - Fur or Feathers and Why (Once again fur - although I prefer cat fur at the moment, I used to have a dog growing up ... furry animals just make better companions I think)
Craft Rocket Challenges  - Anything Goes this week
Catch The Bug Anything Goes this time
                            Crazy 4 Challenges Mountains
                            Sweet Stampin - Travel

Double Trouble - Dog Days of Summer

Thanks so much for visiting!! As mentioned, I have another scenery card ready to share on Saturday, hope you'll check back then :)

Penny Black and More: August Challenge

It's the first Sunday of the month and that means we have a fun new theme at Penny Black and More challenge ... I Spy Something Beginning With "B". I love this theme and had so much fun looking through my stamps to decide which one I would use. I decided on this cute kitty stamp riding a bicycle. Can you spy my other "b" elements?

The image has been stamped and heat embossed on Bristol Vellum paper with the help of my Tonic Stamp platform and versafine onyx ink.
I colored the image using my Zig Clean Color markers and a Zig Detailer waterbrush. The large sentiment is from the Penny Black set Sweet Wishes stamped with Memento Tuxedo ink and I used a circle die to cut it out. The small sentiment is part of the set Party Friends.

The striped paper is from my stash, no idea what brand as it's been a while since I purchased any patterned papers. One of the banners is part of the stamp set Sweet Wishes, simply cut out after stamping, the other banner was just cut out from watermelon colored card stock. Some May Arts jute twine finishes off the card.

I am also entering these challenges:
