Whiff of Joy -Tutorial Thursday

Today is my turn to share something on the Whiff of Joy blog (my very first time), and since today's theme is Tutorial Thursday, I am showing you a few step by step photos on how to do the marbling technique using Shaving Cream. This is also my first time ever doing a step by step tutorial, and I have to admit I was a little bit nervous.

This is a photo of what you need:
regular shaving cream (not the gel kind)
2 - 3 re-inkers (I used SU, but you can also use distress inks, memento, etc.)
white heavy weight card stock or glossy card stock
plate
mixing utensil
paper towels (not pictured)

Step one:
Place some shaving cream onto your plate.
Add 2 to 3 drops of each color onto the foam.

Step 2
Using your mixing device mix is slightly to create a texture.
Tip: Don't mix it too much or it will all turn one color.

Step 3
Now place your  card stock onto the shaving cream.
Move it around to cover the whole front with cream.

When you are done it will look like this.

Step 4
Using a paper towel start wiping the shaving cream off of the card.

When finished it will look like this.
I made two pieced, and note how there is a different pattern on each.

The papers do curl up a bit, and you have to let them dry for a few minutes. Be sure to use strong adhesive when adding to your projects. I used my regular liquid glue (tombow mono multi).

Finally here is my completed project using the super cute Henry Mouse with Guitar from the
new 2014 Whiff of Joy Spring stamp kit. I hope some of you were able to pre-order this cute kit.

Henry has been colored using copic markers. As you can see, I used the little music note stamp on my background paper for some extra texture. Added a few scraps, and a little button to finish it off. And of course I love sewing on cards, so I have included some sewing here too.

I hope I have inspired you to try this shaving cream technique. It's so super easy and fun to do. Something I learned way back when I first started stamping years ago at a stamping class.

And here a little close up. The sentiment and the music note stamp are also both from the same kit.

Have a fabulous day!!

Life is a song...

Finally is time to share a complete creation using one of the cute Henry the Mouse stamps from Whiff of Joy's Spring stamp kit. Absolutely love this kit, as it is musical themed, and I didn't have any music themed stamps besides a large background stamp. And it's perfect to use for those hard to make masculine cards, especially for guys who don't fish, hunt or love race cars.

All stamps I used here are from the kit -  the mouse itself, the music note and sentiment on the white circle, and then the sentiment itself.

I colored the image using copic markers. Cut out with my cutterbee scissors.  Designer paper is from MME. The polka dotted paper is washi tape. I did some sewing, and added some twine too.

I'd love to enter my card to the following challenges:

Inklings and Yarns where  Anything Goes
Craftitude where the theme is Anything Goes or Hit The Right Note (Music Themed)
Color Me Creative Challenge where anything Goes
Crazy 4 Challenges  it's inspired by Music

This stamp kit was only available for pre-order until the Feb. 14th, and you can now no longer purchase it. But the good news is,  in just a little over a month there will be a brand new secret stamp kit for you to pre- order. I personally can't wait to see the next kit, I am sure it will be just as much fun!

Be sure to stop by the Whiff of Joy blog today, where you will see what the rest of the Stamp Kit contributor's created with the kit.

Sweet Flower Girl

Can you believe it??!! Another card from me in less than 24 hours?? That's what happens when my stamp desk is clean and I want to get inky :-)  Wouldn't have happened if I left the mess after yesterday's card. I NEED to start cleaning my mess right after making it!!

I used the super cute stamp "Flower Girl" from Whimsy's Time for Tea Designs collection on today's card. The background paper that she is layered on was hand stamped as well, using stamps from Whimsy's new set "All you need is love" and a large music sheet background stamp.

The image has been colored using copic markers, and fussy cut. I used distress inks to stamp the background. What you see stamped along the edges of the white paper is the same "amour" stamp that I used on the top right. I just love how this turned out.
The dark brown paper is from MME, layered onto a kraft card base. Added a little bit of glitter to the flower in her hair and the shoe laces, and some twine.

I was trying to decide who to give this card to, since Valentines Day is over. Then I was thinking...very soon I will be going to my first ever Bryan Adams concert. YESSSS!!! I am so excited about that, as he has been my most favorite singer since I was a teenager (and still is). We will be in row 4 right in the front part, and maybe, just maybe I can write a few notes inside and slip it onto the stage?? I know this sounds like something a teenager would do, but since I didn't get to see him then, I have to do it now, right? LOL .

Anyway, I'd love to enter my card to the following challenges:
Crafty Ribbons - Anything Goes
 MilkCoffee Challenge- Girly
Paper Crafting Journey -  Love is in the Air
 Sweet Stamps -Anything Goes
Art Impressions Stamps Challenge - Use Kraft Paper
Craft Your Passion - W, E3 - Girly Girl

Have a fabulous day and happy stamping!!

Tulips for You

It seems like it's been forever since I last sat down to color a picture. I have been sick  for the last several days, and therefore too tired to do anything. Couldn't even bring myself to read my new book. I am finally feeling a little better, and so I decided to create a card for the  Penny Black and More  blog. Sadly I didn't make it on time to be posted along with my team mates cards on the blog. This month our theme is "Make it sparkle".

Did you know this gorgeous stamp "Tulips for You" is now available as a cling mounted rubber stamp from Penny Black? I absolutely love it and it is nicely sized at over 4 inches. It can be purchased at PB stamps. If you click the link you will find the most recently released products by Penny Black.

I colored the image using copic markers. It's a pretty simple card, although it did take me a long time to cut out the image. One of those new scan and cut machines sure would come in handy, but I enjoy fussy cutting too much to be even thinking about buying that expensive machine.

Here is another view.

I'd love to play along in a few challenges:

Cuttin & Stampin Challenges  - Spring Is Here
Love to Create - Make it Sparkle with Bling
Catered Crop - Good Birthdays.
The Corrosive Challenges -  In Stitches
As usual we have several fabulous sponsors at Penny Black and More, so I hope you will join in. You can enter up to 3 times.
  Have a great day!!

Products used:
Stamps: Tulips for you (Penny Black), Everyday Moments (Whimsy Stamps)
Papers: MME, Recollections 110lb, copic xpress for image
Tools: CM oval cutting system, butterfly punch (MS), cutterbee scissors
Embellishments: glitter, rhinestones

Finally another little sneak peek

I really wanted to post this a lot sooner, but somehow got hit with a bad case of no mojo, probably from this awful weather and school cancellations because of it, but finally today I just decided to sit down and get creative. I can't show you my whole creation yet, as this is a secret stamp kit, but here is a little more of the image for you to see.

As I mentioned before, this secret kit will only be available for pre-order. And pre-order is only available until February 14th. The kit contains 6 large Henry images and several several sentiments to go with the images. It's so cute and fabulous!! If you'd like more sneak peeks, you might find them in my Stamp Kit Contributer Design Team mates blogs, listed on my side bar.

And that is all I have to share today, I think I am off to do some more coloring.

Have a great day everyone!

You're a star

Happy Tuesday! Hope you're having a good week so far!

I have a new card to share today, which I made for a cute little boy who just turned 6. I thought the Tiddly Inks Image "Super Boy" was perfect for his card. It's been printed on copic xpress blending card, and colored with copic markers. Fussy cutting was done using my cutterbee scissors.

I used several dies from Whimsy stamps on this card - balloon cluster die (but I only used the oval balloon from the cluster), the star is from Whimsy's sun moon star die set, and then the banner on the top left is from the die set pennants.
The sentiments are also from Whimsy (Everyday Moments). The number 6 is from an old SU numbers set.

The designer paper is from an old SU paper pack. I wanted a city background for the card, and this was all I had, but I do like how it turned out.

Above is what the inside looks like. I don't usually do a lot of decorating inside my cards, I usually add a white mat with a little bit of matching designer paper, but for this card I stamped a birthday verse (also from Whimsy Stamps) on the inside, and a few stars (from a retired SU set).

Another view:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Stay warm where ever you are! More snow for us in today's forecast. I am sure the kids are excited to get out early because of it :-) Who knows, they might even get a snow day tomorrow.

Have a great day!!

Products used:
Stamps: super boy (tiddly inks), Everyday Moments (Whimsy), Birthday Greetings (Whimsy), Number stamp (SU)
Ink: memento, SU
Tools: Balloon cluster die (whimsy), banner die (Whimsy), circle nestabilities,
Embellishments: glitter, button, twine

A little Whiff of Joy Sneak Peek

I just got my Whiff of Joy Spring Secret Stamp kit in the mail yesterday, and of course I couldn't help but start coloring. Such cute stamps in this kit!! Wish I could show you, but it is secret. I haven't finished the card yet, but took a little sneak peek photo of the coloring.

Finished fussy cutting too, so I might turn him into a card later today. And maybe I'll add another little sneak peek soon.

Don't forget you can only pre-order the kit until February 14th, after that you cannot get it any longer. The kit includes 6 different super cute Henry the Mouse stamps, some matching sentiments and a few little accessories too. The stamps come on a 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of rubber.

The kit can be pre-ordered here in the Whiff of Joy shop.

Can you guess what Henry is up to here??

Penny Black and More - February Challenge

Hello and happy Sunday to you all!

We have a new challenge for you over at Penny Black and More. I hope you'll play along. As always we have some fabulous prizes up for grabs, so don't miss your chance to win one of them!
You don't have to use a Penny Black stamp to play along, as long as it is a stamped image (not a digistamp) you can play along. Or if you have some Penny Black stickeroos, those would be perfect too.

We have a nice and easy challenge this time around

Make it sparkle.

Here is what I made using a super sweet hedgie stamp from Penny Black "Asking the flowers".

I don't know why, but it took me forever to finish this card, because I had trouble deciding where to place the sentiment. You'd think with this sketch (that I do love and use a lot) it wouldn't take so long, but then the sentiment was smaller than what I first had in mind, and so I spent a long time deciding where to add it. But at least I like the final results.

Image has been colored using copic markers.

*NEW* Whimsy Stamps Facebook Challenge 1

Happy Saturday everyone!! The Whimsy Stamps rubber design team has something fun and new planned this year! As all of us DT members are on Facebook we decided that it would be fun to have monthly Facebook challenge. Today is the very first challenge and I do hope you will join us! Here is the link to our Facebook Fan Page - Whimsy Stamps and Inspiration. We'd love to have you join our group if you aren't already a member.

To make it easy this month, our challenge is simply

Something New

We do ask that you  use a Whimsy Stamp for our Facebook challenges. You can find all the details here in our Facebook Fan Page. There is a fabulous prize up for grabs.

Of course we are sharing our creations on our blogs too. And here is what I made, using a new stamp set from Whimsy's Raindrop Echo Designs - Once upon a time.

I had some fun with inks on this one. To create my colored background I simply masked off the edges (using post it notes) of my white card stock, and applied ink using an ink applicator tool. Then I stamped a sentiment several times onto the background before removing my masks.
Then I stamped the fairy in black in, and the dragon in gray ink, and the butterfly duo. To finish it off I cut out the sentiment using Whimsy's slider 1 die, adhered it onto my card base and it was done. I did spritz it with some glimmer mist for a little sparkle, but it is completely invisible in the photo.

Would love to play along in the following challenges.
4 Krafty Girlz -Anything Goes
 C.R.A.F.T. -  Love/Valentines
Cute Card Thursday -  Something New (new stamp set)
Deep Ocean Challenge- Fantasy
Have a fabulous day everyone!
