Every Leaf...

I thought it was time for a little more Whimsy inspiration on my blog, so I created this clean and simple Fall card using a mix of old and new stamps from Whimsy Stamps.

The tree was colored up using Letraset's aquamarkers. Pumpkin sentiment was fussy cut after stamping with distress ink. As you can see it's a pretty simple card, I just added some strips of designer papers and used my sewing machine. I decided to add a little button with some twine to finish it off.

Product list:
Pumpkin sentiments (from Whimsy's newest release), For all the women in our lives (from an older Whimsy release
MME designer paper, SU card stock, watercolor paper
Letraset aquamarkers, distress ink
circle and scallop circle nestabilities
SU button, twine from whimsy stamps

Below are images of the complete Whimsy stamp sets so you can easily see what else is included in these sets.

Whiff of Joy - monthly project

Finally I have a Whiff of Joy card to show you. The Stamp kit no. 3 had been a bit delayed, I didn't receive it in time to create a "back to school" card for our monthly project on the Whiff of Joy blog. So I decided to use the Summer Stamp kit and create a card in the shape of a chalkboard/easel.

The sentiment has been heat embossed. Image was stamped onto mixed media card stock, and colored with watercolors and pencils. It's been adhered onto the card with dimensionals.
I embellished with red cord and some sequins.

All stamps are from Whiff of Joy's Stamp Kit No. 2. Sadly the stamp kit was available as a pre-order only, and can no longer be purchased. But I do believe that you can now pre-order stamp kit no. 3. I did receive my design team kit no. 3 in the meantime, and I can say that it is another super adorable kit. I already have one of the cute images colored, and will be creating a card with it soon! Sorry I wasn't able to show you any sneak peeks.

I would love to enter my card to the following challenges:

I finally have a new card to share! I didn't feel much like creating something this past week...But here is my newest card using a new stamp from Whimsy's Time 4 Tea designs

I used it along with an older sentiment from Whimsy's mini chalkboard greetings, which was released a few months ago. The butterfly border die that I used here is also available at Whimsy Stamps. Embellished with a little button and twine, and added glitter to the cupcakes.

Product list:

Berry Branch

Happy Friday!

Finally found some time to play with some stamps and get inky. I made the card below using stamps from Just For Fun Rubberstamps and distress ink.

I heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder. Then inked up the card stock using mowed lawn distress ink. I used the same stamp on the white card stock, this time stamped it with the same color of distress ink. Layered with some yellow and wasabi card stock and finished the card off with brads and some gold cord.

Products  used:
mowed lawn distress ink, versamark ink, clear embossing powder

Watercolors and Embossing

Hello and happy Monday!!

Kids are still home from school due to a teacher's strike (which I fully support), and so we are enjoying a few more days of summer, before it's back to daily homework and earlier bedtimes.
Kids had friends over this weekend, so I found some time to create a card for our midmonth reminder at Penny Black and More.

I love playing with my husband's watercolor paints, so happy he is sharing :-)
The floral stamp was heat embossed using versamark ink and white embossing powder onto mixed media card stock. Before I stamped the flowers I masked the edges using painter's tape. After watercoloring I removed the masking tape and stamped the sentiment. I added some turquoise butterflies to bring some more color into the design and "blinged" it up with some rhinestones.

Product list:
Delicate Florals, Hello Friend stamp sets - both by Penny Black
Grumbacher watercolor paints
Canson Mixed Media card stock, SU card stock
MS butterfly punch, rhinestones
versamark ink, black archival ink
white embossing powder, painter's tape

As I mentioned this is also my Design Team card Penny Black and More midway reminder.
Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog
I do hope you'll join us. Our theme is simply ANYTHING GOES. All stamp manufacturers are welcome. We just ask that you use actually rubber or clear stamps and stamp as the focal point. Although we do also welcome creations made with Penny Black stickeroos.
We have lots of fabulous prizes to give away :-)

Hope you have a great day!!

Smiles and Sunshine...

Happy Wednesday!

Time for me to share a little Whimsy Inspiration here on my blog. I used a new rubber stamp from Whimsy's Elisabeth Bell August release for today's card, along with an older sentiment and dies.

Image has been stamped onto copic blending card using memento ink and then colored with copic markers and fussy cut. Watercolors were used behind the sentiment, but it's hard to see in the photo. It's been a while since sewed on my card, but this card was perfect for it so I sewed the edges.

Product list:
MME designer papers, recollections 110lb -white, SU - colored card stock
vines die set, butterfly border die - I only used one butterfly from diecut (both by Whimsy Stamps)
ribbon, twine

Today I am playing along in the following challenges:

Flamingo Birthday

I found a little time this weekend to get inky, so I created this Birthday card.

The background was done using the gelli arts plate, pink distress ink and a chickenwire stencil which I had inked up with turquoise distress ink to add another color onto the gelli plate.
The flamingo was stamped using black archival ink. Simply added the sentiment, some twine and rhinestone to finish it off. Oh, and I stamped the berry tree onto two corners of the light turquoise card stock.

The stamps are all from Just For Fun Rubberstamps - Flamingo Silhouette, Berry Branch, and sentiment from Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet.

And that would be all for now.

Whimsy Stamps - August Rubber Stamp release

Happy Tuesday and thanks for visiting!

Today is day two of  the Whimsy Stamps August Rubber stamps and Die release sneak peeks. All stamps and dies will officially be available for purchase tomorrow at the Whimsy Shop.
We are holding another fun blog hop today. Be sure to hop along and leave comments on each blog for a chance to win one of the fabulous prizes. The participating designer's blogs are listed below.

For today's project I used the stamp "Autumn Owl" illustrated by Crissy Armstrong.

I am just in love with watercolor backgrounds at the moment and so I decided to create a watercolor wash background for today's card. I used a mix blues, purples and browns. Before I added the colors I masked off a moon shape.
The owl image was stamped twice, once onto my background, and then again onto copic blending card. I colored the wood post and owl using copics, and then I extended the wire fence by using a micron pen.

Product list:
Autumn Owl (avail. tomorrow - 8/6) , Autumn letter seals (both whimsy stamps)
bat from Halloween dies set (avail. tomorrow - 8/6), contest ribbon die set  (both whimsy stamps)
Grumbacher deluxe watercolors
1" circle punch for moon mask

And here is the list for today's blog hop. Don't forget to leave a comment at each stop for a chance to win a fabulous Whimsy prize.

Watercolors, stencils and some paste

For today's card I combined two of my recently found favorite challenges, which are also both very new at hosting challenges. One of them is Watercolor 101.

Last week the challenge was watercolor wash with salt, this week, the challenge is to use this technique but in the focal image. When I first read what the challenge was, I knew I wanted to  create a Christmas tree using the watercolor wash technique and that was the inspiration for my card.

Since I also currently love to play with mixed mediums, I wanted to combine the challenge with this month's Mixed Media Monthly challenge, and so I created  a mixed media card. The challenge there this month is stencils and pastes.

Here is what I came up with.

I started out by simply applying Grumbacher Deluxe watercolors onto watercolor paper. I used several shades of greens. Then I added some rock salt to the paper. I had to mist the paper with some water to get the salt "working".  (If you'd like to learn more about this technique, please click the Watercolor 101 link, there are several tutorial links posted on the challenge blog.)
Next I simply cut out a tree shape using a paper cutter. I splattered some more ink over the tree. Decided it would look nice with some word over the tree so I got out an old SU stamp and randomly stamped it over the tree using black ink. Then I used another stamp around the edges for more interest. The star on top was hand drawn, cut out and colored with gelatos. What appears organge-y in the photos, is a more deeper red in real life. Not sure why it looks orange here.

I created the background using dylusions inks and gelatos, another christmas verse stamp and the same stamp that I used to border the christmas tree. I also stamped a music note. The dots were made using a stencil and some paste that I recently picked up from Dick Blick's clearance section. It's a white paste, but for whatever reason it turned greenish.
Finally inked the edges with black ink, adhered it to a white card front and then on a green card base.

Here is a closer look at the tree where I used the watercolor wash/salt technique.

Products used:
Christmas verses and sentiment (SU- retired)
flourish stamp (lavish flourishes - Whimsy Stamps),
Music note ( Spring stamp kit - Whiff of Joy)
Dylusions, gelatos, modeling paste
archival ink, grumbacher deluxe watercolors, rock salt

Besides the two challenges listed and linked above I'd also love to play along here:

Left of Center Creative Challenges the challenge is Christmas in August and then finally at
Winter Wonderland  Anything Goes for Xmas.

have a great Sunday!

Penny Black and More - August challenge

Hello and thanks for stopping by!
It's time for the new - August challenge Penny Black and More !

This month our challenge is simply Anything Goes.

I would love for you to play along. You may use any stamp company you like, we just ask that it has to be stamped and not a digi stamp. As always we have several wonderful prizes up for grabs.

Here is what I created.

This is a very simple card to create, but it took me forever to finally decide on this design. I first was going to create a watercolor wash background, then I ended up cutting the cat out with a circle nestablities. Had the sketch all figured out and even did some sewing but was not happy with the card. Then I ended up fussy cutting the image and created a simple background by spraying dylusions inks on to an acrylic block and stamped that onto the card. I used some postmark sentiments and the matching postage mini die from Whimsy stamps for my sentiment and then added some twine to finish it off.

Product list:
Snap shot by Penny Black, vintage travel postage stamps by Whimsy stamps
mini postage die by Whimsy Stamps
watercolor card stock
dylusions inks, water & acrylic block
twine
grumbacher watercolor paints

I am also playing along here:
Crafty Calendar -  Anything Goes
Inkspirational -  Use markers or pencils
Pumpkin spice -  Vacation
Our Creative Corner - 'Summertime'
And that is all for today's post. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

If I had a single flower...

Happy Friday and happy August!
I've been playing with some embossing powder and a new stamp from Just for Fun Rubberstamps to create this clean and simple card.

After heat embossing the image using versamark ink and clear embossing powder, I applied distress inks to the card stock. The image panel was cut at an angle, then I stamped the sentiment. Added it to a white 110lb card base to finish to complete the card. Very quick to create and reproduce. I can see this one done in many different colors and sentiments for a set of cards.
You can find both, the beautiful floral stamp and sentiment at Just For Fun Rubberstamps, and you can choose from wood mounted, cling mounted and unmounted.

Products used:
Tim Holtz Distress inks (peeled paint, broken china)
versamark inkpad, clear embossing powder
black archival ink
recollections card stock 110lb
