Oh What Fun!

Hello and welcome! Hard to believe it's the last Saturday of the month, and it's also time for a new challenge at Allsorts! This week Dena is hosting and she selected the optional theme of "Embossing". It can be dry embossing or heat embossing, and as always now the theme is optional so you may share any of your new creations (up to 3) for a chance to be entered into the prize drawing. As this challenge ends in November we have new prizes and if you haven't already, be sure to check the October winners list on the challenge blog.

Below are the FABULOUS prizes for the next few challenges, from StampendousOakwood Direct and WOWVOW. Winners will be selected weekly then all announced on the last Friday of November.

I wanted to get another chance at joining the Cat Lovers Christmas Kickstart challenge in honor of dear Janis who started the Cat Lovers Hop many years ago but sadly passed away this January. So I decided to make my Allsorts DT card a Christmas card with a cat to be able to combine.

I used 2 different stamp sets to create the scene along with the dies and embossing folder. The presents (and sentiment)  are from the Penny Black set "Christmas Cycling" but originally there is a dog peeking out from the box on top. To make it cat themed I used this fun cat from the Hero Arts stamp set Meowy Christmas and sat the cat right on top of the last present but making it look like he knocked over one of the gifts as he jumped up there. The single gift is also part of the Penny Black set. If you look closely you can see the dog's paws peeking out from the top LOL, something I tried to hide.

The floor was done with Penny Black's Floor die set and inked in a color to match the cat's fur.  Embossing folder is an oldie by Cuttlebug, I think. I added a few sticky rhinestones and Stickles glitter for some sparkle. Glitter has this funny way of either showing up too much or not at all in photograph, today it's much more sparkly than in real life.

Challenges I'd like to share with:

PS: Still plenty of time to sign up for the Papercrafters Year in Review 2023 hop where we share our favorite creations of the year. If interested, please visit this post where I shared all the info about it at th end of that post.

Nature Reveals Her Miracles One by One

Hello and welcome! It's Saturday again and that means we have a new challenge for you at Allsorts and this week it's Lynn's turn to host. Her optional theme is "Autumn Colors" a nice and easy one for this time of the year so hopefully you will join us for your chance to win. If Autumn Colors aren't your thing then you can go with the "Anything Goes" option too.

Our October prizes come from: Stamp AddictsOakwoodHighlight CraftsRuth Hamilton Design, AALL and Create and Craft Stash, the winners will be selected from the weekly challenges and then announced on the last Friday of the month.

Here is what I made using one of my new Aall and Create stamps (Garden Times) I purchased during their sale.

This card came together rather quickly. The smooshed background was already previously done using Tea Dye Distress ink (I think), next I stamped the image (this is all just one collage style stamp minus the extra sentiment) using Ground Espresso Distress Oxide and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored the blossom with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils an then added the sentiment from Stampers Anonymous (old, found at a thrift shop). I distressed the edges, mounted onto yellow cardstock and then a dark brown card base. I embellished with a button and some jute twine.

I Spy With My Little Eye ..............Shades of Autumn (Challenge No. 8)

Hello and welcome to a new "I spy with my little eye" challenge taking place right here on my blog! Pauline and I are back with a new theme and hopefully you'll join in the fun too!
We had many fabulous entries last month, thank you all so much for playing along with us! Our top 2 are at the end of the post, remember, if you were selected then you have the option of joining us as a guest designer next month :)

It's Pauline's turn to select a theme and she chose:

I spy with my little eye....................

Shades of Autumn.

We can't wait to see what you'll share with us. Remember, you may share anything crafty, it doesn't have to be a card! As long as it fits the theme and is handmade by you we'd love to see it! The linky tool is at the end of the post.

Here is my card:

I used a mix of stamps/brands on my card, I think they all work together so nicely! The carved pumpkins are an old stamp by Stampressions (Baby, Mama, Papa boo- sorry, no link) found at a thrift store, the flowers are from a new to me Aall and Create set - Flower Journey - and the tree/branches are Lavinia's Seasonal Tree. The background was inked with Villainous Potion, Chipped Saphire and Black Soot Distress Oxides/inks with a circle die cut as a moon mask. Lavinia's hill masks were used in the foreground and I also used a stamp from another Aall and Create set for some interest on the foreground. Some water splatter created the "orbs". Happy Autumn is from an old Hero Arts stamp kit.

I plan on sharing my card (above) with these challenges:
Everybody-Art-Challenge - Pumpkin // Unicorn Challenge - Autumn or Halloween // Bastel-Traum - Autumn Mood // FarmQuest General Store Challenge - Anything Farm or Country Goes // Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge - Anything Halloween // Crafting Happiness Challenges // Make My Monday - Autumn Colors // Double D Challenge - Pumpkins // The Card Concept - I was inspired by the beautiful colors and think the style might be "mixed Media"

Love the way she captured the beautiful shades of Autumn on this wonderful scenic card! Be sure to visit Pauline's blog to read all about how she made it!

We're so happy to have a guest designer joining us this challenge and that is Maxine from Kiwime's Creations. So glad you joined us this month, Maxine!

What a beautiful way to showcase these gorgeous Autumn Leaves! Please visit Maxine's blog to read more about her creation! Below you can see that she completed her project by decorating the envelope to match her card. It's always such a nice touch to receive a matching envelope too!

Flowers and Some Texture

Hello everyone, it's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge with Lorraine hosting this week and her optional theme is "add texture". There are many ways to do this so hopefully you will join us but if the theme isn't for you then you can still choose the Anything Goes option for your chance to win! As a reminder our prizes for October come from: Stamp Addicts, Oakwood, Highlight Crafts, Ruth Hamilton Dedsign, AALL and Create and Craft Stash. We will have weekly winners but all announced on the last Friday of the month.

So.. last month I had ordered stamps directly from Aall and Create (because of a hard to resist sale!!!) but in an effort to avoid custom fees I had them shipped to my dad's address in Germany. Well, as their sale had gotten even better (more of what was on my wish list marked down) I decided to order again and that time I risked having to pay customs and had the order sent directly to me in the US. I was thrilled when the package was sitting on my door step, no extra cost and I could play with them right away while my other order is still in Germany LOL (my brother will send them with a holiday package soon). I don't know if I was just lucky or if the order amount made a difference that I didn't have to pay any custom fees. (It was just under US $100). Anyway, as I type this, their sale is still going on... in case anyone is intested.

So, for today's card I used one of my new to me stamps from Aall and Create, set #978 - Hexapetalistic by Tracy Evans.

To start out I inked the card stock using Peacock Feathers Distress ink and stamped my image directly on the card stock. Then I used a Lavinia stencil and texture paste to follow our optional theme. I stamped the image again on a separate piece of card stock, colored and fussy cut around the circle and flowers. A little more stamping on the background using another stamp from the same set. And I used a sentiment from the same set.

The Cat Lovers Christmas Kickstart Challenge - Tis The Season (Plus Papercrafters Year in Review 2023 Hop Info)

Hello everyone! Every October Janis Woolbright would hold the Cat Lovers Hop and I was so happy when I discovered the hop a few years ago and had been taking part in it. Sadly, in January Janis passed away and in her honor the Cat Lovers Christmas Kickstart challenge was created. So today I am sharing a card made for the challenge.

To make my card I also followed one of the "game" challenges on the Christmas Kickstart blog and that is a tic tac toe game created with Janis's favorite techniques and themes in mind.
I went with diagonal left top to right bottom (die cut, tag, stamp) but it also fits the top row (die cut, ribbon, patterened paper) and second row (glitter, stamp, scraps).

 Christmas Kickstart Tic Tac Toe

I used some cute cats from the Penny Black set Deck the Halls and a mix of distress inks/Zig Clean Color markers for coloring. The die cut pine branches are also from Penny Black and the bauble tag is an oldie from Whimsy Stamps. Found the perfect red gingham ribbon scrap in my ribbon drawer and tied some jute twine around it. Striped and red paper are also both scraps. I used Penny Black's background stamps Christmas Story before adding the die cuts/papers/ribbon to the top. To finish it off I applied Stickles glitter to the lights.

The sentiment "Tis the Season" is from another PB set - Holiday Snippets.

Besides the Cat Lover's Christmas Kickstart challenge and Christmas Kickstart Tic Tac Toe I'd also like to share my card here:

Snippets Playground - Use Snippets
Simon Says Stamp - Christmas
Peace on Earth - Christmas
Fab n Funky - Coloring

A Touch of Vintage

Happy Saturday! It's time already for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Mervi is the host this week and she selected "Vintage" as her optional theme. We would love to see you create something with the theme in mind but as always it's just an option and you may share all your new crafty makes for a chance to win one of our wonderful prizes or to be selected in the Top 5. Prizes for the October challenges come from Stamp Addicts, Oakwood, Highlight Crafts, Ruth Hamilton Design, AALL and Create and Craft Stash and winners will be announced on the last Friday of the month.

I started out by inking an acrylic block with Antique Linen Oxide ink and stamped this onto the cardstock. When this was dry I stamped the rose from the Penny Black set All Abloom. I colored with Distress inks in shades of brown and green. The script/postmark is a stamp from Just for Fun Rubberstamps (no longer in business) and the sentiment is a sticker from a Tim Holtz Small Talk booklet. The sentiments come in black and white, this one was white but I inked it with Distress ink. Some diluted ink spatter, distressed edges and jute twine finish off the card.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - October

Hello and welcome to the October Crafty Wednesday Challenge taking place right here on my blog! I'm so glad you stopped by today and hope you'll decide to join in the fun too! There were some fabulous entries last month, thank you all for sharing your crafty creations! As always you can scroll down to see who made the "top picks with a twist".

I'm sure most of you know by now, the theme is now always............

Anything Goes

and instead of a challenge theme there will be a top pick twist, meaning the top picks will each have something in common. But nobody knows what the twist will be (not even me) and will be inspired by YOUR creations. So do link up all your new or recently created crafty makes (any type of craft) for your chance to have your project featured next month! The linky tool is at the end of the post.

And here is my inspiration for October:

This Penny Black cutie illustrated by Mo Manning - Pumpkin Ride is new-ish to me, it was part of a stamp lot I purchased a few months ago from the resale site Mercari and this is my first time using it. I love these non-traditonal colors for this time of the year just about as much as I love the bright fall colors and I was inspired by some decorative fall pillows I purchased last fall :)

Related Products:

I used distress inks for some simple watercoloring. I cut a mask for the image so I could stencil around it and used Lavinia's Feather Leaf stencil because they remind me a bit of vines.
To add more interest, my new Aall and Create Miniatures stamp set came in so handy with the wonderful wording and ants are also from this set. I found the "print" pattern paper in my stash of scraps and although I have no idea what it says, I thought it fit the rest of the card really well so I added it to the top. The sentiment is one I selected from Tim Holtz's Small Talk sticker booklet.

Top Picks with a Twist

No. 10 Sparkling Pink

No. 41 Rosi

No. 61 Peppermint Santa

Aren't these just fabulous!!

Congratulations to each one of you! You may pick up your Top Pick logo below to display on your own blogs if you like to.

I will continue to pin the top picks to the dedicated Pinterest board, but will also include photo and link back to the original blogs/sites here. These will be removed at the start of the new challenge to stay in compliance with GDPR.

To join in this month's challenge please use the linky tool below. You have until Sunday October 29th to play along!

A few things to remember:
  • You may combine with any other challenges.

  • Please do include a link back here to my blog in your blog post.
  • Backlinking to a recent post IS allowed.
  • Digital products are allowed and very welcome but the final piece has to be a physical handmade creation, not just digital

My Recent Prime Purchases - A Random Mix of Things

Good morning and Happy Monday! I finally got a moment to write up my "Recent Prime Purchases" post to join Tanya on her monthly Prime Purchases link up.

I try to write this post every three months but it's been longer for me since I've prepared a post for this. Not that I didn't have anything to share but because I somehow never got around to writing a post.

Since I purchased so.much.stuff. in the last several months I'm just listing the highlights. It's a mix of random things.

Black and Decker Cordless Drill Kit

In April I started renovating my kitchen cabinets which included removing all of the hardware. I didn't want to deal with my husband's very heavy drill so I purchased this little tool kit for myself. Absolutely love it and highly recommend! My husband has even been reaching for it himself so he wouldn't have to deal with his heavy drill LOL.

Brown Leather Repair Kit

We purchased our leather sofa in 2018 and while it shouldn't have happened, it did start rubbing off on some parts so I wanted to try "fixing" it. You get these 3 colors and mix them to best match the color of the sofa. Maybe it's not perfect but it definitely is better than a random discolored spot.

Hair Pins for Ballet Buns

Probably shared these pins before, but this specific type is getting so hard to find in store and since they do seem to disappear so often, another order was needed. These are the only pins my daughter uses for her ballet bun.

Deco Art Crackle Medium

Something I've been wanting to try in the craft room. Only did try once and it's really fun to see it "work" but it was only a "trial" project so didn't actually use it yet on a project. I need to watch a few "how to" videos.

Workout Tanks

I had previously ordered this tank top in blue but wanted a couple more color options. I have the blue in XS but ordered these in S for a slightly looser fit. I do think they run true to size though.

Lee Shorts for Men

It is so hard to find shorts locally in a size 29 (mens) and that's what my son needs. These turned out to be a perfect fit and color.

Once again, it's soooo hard to find the right size, this time a size Petite Small. I was so exited when I came across this zip up sweatshirt in a beautiful bold red. The fleece is not too thick so it was perfect for the chilly days hiking in the Austrian mountains. I also love to throw it on when I'm chilly due to the AC running, and it will work so well for layering in the colder months.

Luggage Straps

I needed new luggage straps. Not sure I like this lime green the best, but at that time they were the least expensive color so that's why I got this color LOL. They did help identify our suitcases quickly.

Sage Green Boho Curtains

So I purchased some decorative pillow covers while on vacation in Germany and of course when I came back home I realized I now needed to look for new curtains for the living room because they absolutely did not match. I did order 3 different sets and decided to keep these.

Window Valance/Swag

After painting my kitchen walls last year I never put up the old valances and finally decided I needed to add something to the windows. I have two small kitchen windows and this is what I kept.

Window Valance/Swag

Another style I had ordered first and actually really liked, but they were too wide so unfortunately had to return.

Thank  you so much for stopping by today!
