Allsorts Challenge 523: Fantasy World

This week at Allsorts challenge it's my turn to host and I picked the theme of "Fantasy World". I'd love for you to join us .... we have a beautiful stamp set from Crafty Devils to give away this week.

I knew I wanted to use Lavinia stamps for my "Fantasy" card. It's never easy for me to decide what colors to choose but I decided to go with some purples, orange, pink and blue Distress Inks/Oxides and randomly inked up the background with an ink blending tool. I used a circle die cut to mask the moon. The florals on the background were done with Penny Black sets Sprigs and Butterfly Garden. Stamped words are from a retired set by Whimsy Stamps and I used one of Tim Holtz's stencil to add a design to the background. The mushrooms and fairies from Lavinia stamps were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturn ink. Sentiment is from the Penny Black set Snippets

I used a glitter pen to add some sparkles to the fairy wings and flower.

I'm sharing with these challenges:

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - April Challenge

Hello and Welcome to the April theme at Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday Challenge taking place right here on my blog - Ellibelle's Corner! Before I let you know more about this month's theme I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that joined in last month. I had lots of fun visiting your blogs or galleries and a winner and top picks have been selected. They are listed at the end of this post.

This Month's Themes

I think everyone is enjoying choosing from multiple themes, and since each challenge runs for a whole month, it makes sense to let you choose from more than one theme. This month they are:

Wings, Tails or Spring Blossoms

Choose one theme or the other, or you may combine as you wish! I can't wait to see what you will share this month!

For my creation above I used a mix of Lavinia stamps on an inked background. I started out by masking the edges of my 7x7 inches Bristol Vellum paper using  painters tape, then used Distress Oxide inks for the background, applied with an ink blending tool.  I used the colors Cracked PistachioWilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch. A little water was spritzed on the background for a fun reaction before stamping the plants, fairies and words. All stamping besides words were done using  Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink, then I used  Cracked Pistachio ink for some of the words.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - March Challenge Reminder

Happy Wednesday! Today I am sharing another card I made for my Crafty Wednesday Challenge here in my blog where the themes are:

"Think Spring" or "Add Some Green"
(or a comination of the two!)

If you are here to join in, the linky tool can be found at the end of this post.

Last Saturday it's been raining all day long, and I decided to get out some of my Lavinia stamps. I really wanted to make a canvas print inspired by Brenda's beautiful Allsorts challenge creation, but that didn't turn out as I had planned, so I made this instead using Bristol Vellum as a base.

All stamps I used on this creation are from Lavinia Stamps
All colored inks are Distress Inks or Distress Oxides.
Black ink is Versafine Clair Nocturne.

I did some masking and inking here using distress inks and oxides. For the sky I used Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves and Blueprint Sketch distress inks/oxides (in that order). The grass area was done with Bundled Sage distress oxide. All background stamping was done with Iced Spruce distress oxide. The black silhouettes were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I don't really like how the distress oxide ink shows through the Versafine clair ink, may need to try stamping the silhouettes with black distress oxide ink, but I don't have that ink pad yet .... Heat embossing really only works if I stamp the fairy first but somehow I always start these card with the background because I don't usually know where I want the silhouettes until the background is done. Any advise is always welcome!!

I  have edited my post to add: some of you may have already seen this, but if not - Scrapbook.com is offering THIS FREE STAMP SET to anyone using coupon code FREE3762 at checkout. This will take the $10.00 price to $0.00. Promo shipping of $2.24 does apply, this is within the US, I am not sure what the promo shipping cost would be outside the US. (Be sure to click on "change shipping" at checkout to select the Promo shipping.) This offer is still valid today 3/13 but I have no idea when it ends. (I just ordered mine!) This is what the set looks like:

Fairy Silhouette

Hello and welcome! Today I have another fairy card to share made with another one of the beautiful Lavinia fairies.

I started out with a 4.5" square white Bristol Vellum card stock. Using my Tonic stamp platform, I stamped the fairy with Versafine Onyx ink and then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then using the negative of a circle die cut, I inked up the scene in the background using Distress inks and Distress Oxides.

The sentiment is from a recent My Monthly Hero kit, their December fairy themed kit (now sold out).  I applied some Wink Of Stella glitter to her wings.

For the inside I used the circle part of the die cut and inked the outside of the card to leave a circle in the midde for a personal message.
Then stamped one of the miniature faires and some fairy dust (these stamps are both by Lavinia).

I am sharing my card with the following challenges:
Stamping Sensations - Fabulously Feminine
Creative Knockouts W,2E,C8 #282 Finish The Inside

Dandelion Fairy

Last year I treated myself to several new Lavinia stamps and I am finally getting a chance to share something made with some of the stamps.

I started out by masking the moon using a circle die-cut, then inked up the background with Distress Inks. I used Worn Lipstick and Seedless Preverves for the purple sky and Peeled Paint with alittle bit of Walnut Stain for the bottom portion. I used a mask made out of torn printer paper for the hills. Before stamping the fairy, I removed the moon mask. All stamps (besides the tiny sentiment) are by Lavinia. Love how they all work together to create a scene. I heat embossed the fairy using Versafine Onyx ink with clear embossing powder. Not sure I like the embossed effect....I feel like it's too shiny. Although I like the fairy to stand out I feel it's a bit too  much...what do you think?? How do you use these types of Silhouette stamps?

The tiny sentiment is from the Penny Black set Snippets. I finished off the card by layering it onto white card stock and then onto a pink base.

Sharing with these challenges:
Lavinia Stamps Challenge - A Story to be Told
Stamping Sensations  - Fabulously Feminine
Cute Card Thursday Weekly - Banish the Blues
Simply Create Too Monthly -January - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for visiting! Stay warm and hope you have a good week!

Allsorts 485: Create a Scene

It's time for  a new challenge at Allsorts, and this week it is  my turn to host. I love cards with scenes (although they are a little challenging for me), and so I selected the theme of .............

  Create a scene.

I think this is the perfect opportunity to use silhouette stamps, but you may create your scene any way you like, maybe with dies or masking, and of course any type of stamps! Come play along with us for a chance to win a gift certificate from Swedish House Crafts.

This was an opportunity for me to ink up the rest of my new Lavinia stamps. And now that I have used all but a tiny castle from my first Lavinia stamps order, I feel like I am allowed to purchase more of these beautiful stamps :)  I always feel bad when I buy new stamps while I still have several that haven't been inked yet!

I created the background by using homemade masks and distress inks on  Bristol Vellum Paper. The cat, fairies, fairy dust and mushrooms are all stamps by Lavinia, and the puffy flowers and grass are stamps by Penny Black (sets Enamor and Nature's Gifts). The rays were done with a rays stencil by Stampers Anonymous. I applied some stardust Stickles Glitter to the fairy dust and fairy wings to give the card a little sparkle.

I am also sharing my card here:

Allsorts 483: Things with Wings

I have been wanting to purchase some Lavinia stamps for a loooong time, and finally decided on which ones to get first a few months ago (it was not easy because I pretty much have all of their stamps on my wish list but I had to keep the order under $100). Well, it took me another few months to finally ink them up. I know that sounds crazy ... but these types of cards are just out of my comfort zone so I kept putting it off. But, you know how it is, you can't get better at something if you're not trying it, and today's theme at Allsorts challenge was the perfect opportunity to finally ink up this gorgeous fairy.

Our theme this week is "Things with Wings".

I used a large circle die cut to mask the "moon" and then inked the card stock with Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans distress inks and then removed the mask. Next I stamped the image with the help of my Tonic Stamp Platform using Versafine Onyx Ink and heat embossed with clear powder. The "spiral of spells" was stamped over the masked moon using Stormy Sky ink again, but stamped off once before stamping, because I wanted the words to be "barely there" ...but I kind of wish I hadn't stamped off, they just turned out a little bit lighter than I wanted, but they are more visible in real life.

The poppies and willow were first stamped with stormy sky ink, then with versafine onyx ink.
Framed the image with a retired Stampin Up card stock (I think the color is Brocade Blue) It's a perfect match for the Stormy Sky distress ink. The card base is Neenah linen textured card stock. A sticky rhinestone was place in the center of the spiral spell sentiment.
