Whimsy Stamps - November Rubber Stamps Release Day

Hello and Welcome to the Whimsy Stamps November Rubber Stamps and Die Release Day!! All new stamps and dies are available for purchase today in the Whimsy Stamps shop!! We are holding our Grand Blog Hop today showing you more creations made with these new stamps.

For today's card I kept the focus on one of new sentiments with matching die from Raindrop Echo Designs - Resolutions and notched square die.

The feathers were done using the feather and nib die from an older Whimsy Stamps release. I thought it would work perfectly with the sentiment.

If you would like to hop along with us today, simply visit the blogs below and leave a comment for a chance to win. You  have until Friday noon EST to hop along.

Just flying by...

It's been a while since I used the kite die and matching sentiment set from Whimsy Stamps, so I decided to get it out and create a card with it. Since my last couple of cards were rather fall-ish, I decided to use some pinks and blues today.

I created the circle background using dylusions inks and stencil. Then cut it out using a circle nestabilities shape, which I layered onto a black circle shape.

Before adhering the circle onto my car base I spritzed some dylusions ink onto the card base and added the vellum striped paper strips.
As mentioned above the stamp set is by Whimsy Stamps - Take Flight - which includes several fun kite sentiments, and I cut it out using the matching kites die set. The set includes two dies, a larger kite and a smaller kite. The one I used here is the larger one. If you are a scrapbooker, this stamp set and dies would be perfect to use on your summer scrapbook pages.

Here is what the complete set includes.

Just Beachy

Happy Wednesday! I made today's card for the Whimsy Stamps June Facebook challenge. This month the theme is "Just Beachy". This could be a beach scene, beach image, or simply beachy colors. I did struggle a little bit with this one, as I didn't really get any "beachy" stamps from the last release, but I did receive a beachy sentiment stamp set (Sun-sational from Raindrop Echo Designs) so I decided to use it for the challenge and create a CAS style card with it.

The flourish behind the sentiment is from Whimsy's set "Lavish Flourishes" and still one of my most favorite stamps. Not much to tell here, I simply stamped the circle sentiment onto recollections 110lb card stock, then punched out using a 1 1/4 inch punch, layered onto a scallop circle shape (SU), and then adhered onto the card using dimensionals. Papers are from my stash. Flowers are by recollections, I added rhinestones to the flower centers and then some twine.

If you'd like to join is this month in Whimsy's Facebook challenge, simply click this link. You may use any Whimsy rubber or digi stamps as the focal point to play along, and there is a fantastic prize up for grabs.

Besides Whimsy's Facebook challenge I'd love to play along here:

Loves Rubber Stamps  Anything Goes
Card Mania  Flowers
Crafty Cardmakers -  Use one or more Flourishes

*NEW* Whimsy Stamps Facebook Challenge 1

Happy Saturday everyone!! The Whimsy Stamps rubber design team has something fun and new planned this year! As all of us DT members are on Facebook we decided that it would be fun to have monthly Facebook challenge. Today is the very first challenge and I do hope you will join us! Here is the link to our Facebook Fan Page - Whimsy Stamps and Inspiration. We'd love to have you join our group if you aren't already a member.

To make it easy this month, our challenge is simply

Something New

We do ask that you  use a Whimsy Stamp for our Facebook challenges. You can find all the details here in our Facebook Fan Page. There is a fabulous prize up for grabs.

Of course we are sharing our creations on our blogs too. And here is what I made, using a new stamp set from Whimsy's Raindrop Echo Designs - Once upon a time.

I had some fun with inks on this one. To create my colored background I simply masked off the edges (using post it notes) of my white card stock, and applied ink using an ink applicator tool. Then I stamped a sentiment several times onto the background before removing my masks.
Then I stamped the fairy in black in, and the dragon in gray ink, and the butterfly duo. To finish it off I cut out the sentiment using Whimsy's slider 1 die, adhered it onto my card base and it was done. I did spritz it with some glimmer mist for a little sparkle, but it is completely invisible in the photo.

Would love to play along in the following challenges.
4 Krafty Girlz -Anything Goes
 C.R.A.F.T. -  Love/Valentines
Cute Card Thursday -  Something New (new stamp set)
Deep Ocean Challenge- Fantasy
Have a fabulous day everyone!

Products used:
Stamps: Once upon a time (whimsy stamps)
Papers: SU, recollections 110lb
Inks: distress inks, SU, memento
Tools: slider 1 die (whimsy stamps), post it notes for masking
Embellishments: glimmer mist

Whimsy Stamps September Release and a Masculine Challenge

It's release day at Whimsy Stamps!!! Today Whimsy Stamps released several new super cute stamps, and stamp sets, as well as dies, a couple of gorgeous designer paper packs and Shape EZ templates! If you'd like to see all the newly released products on one page, just visit the
Whimsy Inspirations Blog to take a peek.

Of course we are holding another blog hop with some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team.
And as always one lucky "hopper" will win two gorgeous new release stamps. All you have to do to be entered, is visit each DT member (listed below), and leave comments along the way.

Since today is also the day for the Rubber DT to share a creation for this month's Whimsy Challenge, I decided to combine my card with the challenge creation. The theme this month is "Masculine Cards". There is still time to play along in the Whimsy Challenge, for some fabulous prizes. You may use any make of stamps, it is not a requirement to use a Whimsy Stamp.

Here is my creation, using stamp sets from Whimsy's Raindrop Echo Designs.
I used the Season's Greetings Notables 7 set again from today's release, and I also used an older sentiment set, also from Whimsy Stamps, Christmas Tree in Words. It is several years old, but new to me, so I thought why not show it off too.
The background paper is from Michele Roos Design, it's not a christmas paper, but I thought it worked well with my color scheme. It is part of the pack "In the Garden". I inked up all edges  using the Direct to Paper technique. I really didn't want to add any stitching because it might not be counting as "masculine" but I just felt like something was missing so I did it anyway. I know the men in my life won't mind. The twine, which I just received from Whimsy Stamps as well (Lemondrop yellow) was a perfect match for the mustard-y paper that I used, so I added a bow too.

Products used:
Stamps: Season's Greetings Notables 7, Christmas Tree in Words (both Whimsy Stamps)
Papers: In the Garden (Whimsy Stamps), SU and Neenah card stock
Inks: SU more mustard and always artichoke
Tools: Notables 7 die (Whimsy Stamps), scallop border punch (SU), sewing machine
Embellishment: Twine

Here is another view:
If you'd like to hop along with us today, simply visit the blogs listed, and don't forget to leave comments for a chance to win. As always the prize location is kept secret.

My daughter had some fun with the September Release stamps too. She saw the cute Snowflake Bauble stamp from Whimsy's Time for Tea designs on my craft desk, and was she really wanted to make a card with it. Here is what she came up with. She is only 7, and did all the fussy cutting all by herself. Didn't she do an amazing job!! Of course she colored the image herself too, and found some diecuts and the sentiment that I had in im "extras" jar on my desk, to decorate the card with. The silver snowflake was made using whimsy's layered snowflake dies, and the white snowflakes were made with the snowflake border die. The sentiment was already stamped and cut out too (last year but I didn't end up using it then),  she did decide to color the bells on it. It's from the set Holiday Carols Notables 4. It was cut out with the Notabes 4 die.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have fun hopping and don't forget you still have time to play in whimsy's current challenge - masculine cards - for  more chances to win!
Have a wonderful day!

Hello and thanks so much for stopping by!
Today the Whimsy Stamps Designers are holding a Review Blog hop, to share some more creations made with  the gorgeous stamps, dies, papers and Shape EZ templates that were just released yesterday. I hope you'll be able to join us, as once again there will be a chance to win a fabulous Whimsy prize.

Today I'd like to show you a card made using the super adorable stamp "Lomasi" from Whimsy's Wee Stamps collection. Isn't she adorable! I have also used the sentiment set "Welcome to the Big top"for sentiments and background stamping.

She has been colored using my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I used my cutterbee scissors to cut her out. The paper in the background is from Prima Marketing. I decided to use the carousel stamp from the set "Welcome to the big top" to add to the designer paper. I have also used also used the stamp "A World of Adventure" randomly as you can see. It's a pretty simple sketch, I simply added the border die cut (using Whimsy's lace doily border die 1), along with a strip of designer paper and some twine to the top. The tickets are part of the set "Welcome to the big top". They were cut out using the mini ticket die, and the regular ticket die. To finish it off, I sponged the edges, did some sewing and added a button.

To be entered into today's blog hop prize draw, be sure to leave a comment on ALL of the DT posts listed below by 12.00PM EST tomorrow. All winners will be announced here on the Whimsy blog on Friday.

Here is the card I created for today, using the stamp set "Welcome to the Big Top" from Whimsy's Raindrop Echo Designs.

Thought these balloons would be perfect to create a little "vintage style" card with. It has been a little while since I actually made it, as it is another one that I sent to Denise for use at the Whimsy Booth at CHA in Las Vegas.  So I am not sure what ink colors I used, but I think it was Mustard Seed and Walnut stain Distress inks. To create the look of two different colors on the balloons and sentiments, I simply inked the stamp first with the lighter color, then slightly inked it with the walnut stain.

The white background was made by stamping an old script background stamp, as well as some postage stamps from Whimsy - Vintage Travel Postage Stamps- in "old paper" ink, and then also in walnut stain/mustard seed. Sorry but I don't remember exactly what Designer Paper I used, it's something from my stash probably by K&Co, or My Minds Eye. The edges were all inked with walnut stain ink, I did some machine sewing and distressing. The main sentiment is part of the set "Welcome to the big top. I used the slider 1 die from Whimsy to cut it out.

I made another card using this stamp set, but will post that at another time. This is such a fun and versatile stamp set to create cards with, not to mention it's perfect for scrapbook pages too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have fun hopping and good luck everyone!

One little ballerina - two cards

Hi everyone, I am back with a couple of cards that I was able to make over the weekend. They are for the Digital Pencil Too challenge, and a few others too. My daughter already made and entered her card for Mo's children challenge, and of course I just had to play along too. I decided to make a card using the cute "Lil Ballerina" image. When I got her, I also purchased the tiny dancer elements set, that include the ballet slippers and the sentiment used on the first card (along with some other digis).

Above is the first card I made. Coloring was done using faber castell polychromos and copic markers. I was inspired by the watermark Mo used on the sentiments in the tiny dancer elements set, so I used a old stamp from SU to stamp a heart onto the sentiment. Papers are from Prima Marketing.

When my daughter saw the card, she wanted me to make one for her birthday the same exact one, but using blue shades instead of pink. (She just got moved up to ballet 3 and their class color is light blue).

This one was completely colored with faber castell polychromos pencils. I used a set from Whimsy Stamps set "birthday greetings", and like on the first card, I used the same heart to stamp onto the sentiment. Paper is also from Prima marketing. My sewing machine messed up on the top left so I had to add a little flower there to cover it up.

I'd like to play in the following challenges:
Digital Pencil Challenge - Children's challenge
ABC Challenge -  O is for Open
Artistic Inspirations -  Stitching (real or faux)
Created With Love -  Anything Goes (papercrafts only)
Great Impressions -  Leave a Little Sparles
Lacy Sunshine - Always Anything Goes
Digi Haven – Week 1 - Anything Goes
Totally Papercrafts  Punches & Dies
Thank you all for stopping by, hope you liked my cards. Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Products used:

Inks: SU and TH distress inks
Tools: butterfly punches (Martha Stewart), flower trio punch (SU), circle nestabilities dies, sewing machine, cutterbee scissors for fussy cutting

Whimsy Inspires Challenge - Stitching

Hello everyone and thanks so much for visiting!
I have a card to share today, which was made for the current Whimsy Stamps Challenge. The theme this month is "Stitching" and there are still a couple of weeks left for you to enter. Whimsy Stamps is giving away several amazing prizes again this month, so don't miss your chance to enter. You don't even have to use a Whimsy Stamp, any make would work.

I used the new stamp" I love you slow much" from Whimsy's Sylvia Zet collection. Isn't this just adorable!!
To make my card I stamped it onto Neenah Card Stock using memento ink. Then I colored it using Faber Castell Polychromos and Derwent Coloursoft pencils, the skin on the girl was done with copics.

I have been getting more requests on doing a video tutorial on how to color, sorry but I have no idea where I would start with a tutorial, not to mention I hate hearing my voice recorded so it won't be an option. But, I can share a great you tube video, which really helped me learn how to color.
Here is the link by HeartPrints. It's been a while since I watched it, but I believe she is using prismacolor pencils and gamsol for blending. I use mostly Faber Castell Polychromos or Derwent Coloursoft Pencils, but I have heard that crayola or rose art pencils work too, and might be something to try before investing in an expensive set of pencils. I don't use gamsol for blending, although I have some, I prefer baby oil instead. I think it works just the same without any harmful fumes.

Products used:
Stamps: I love you slow much, Friendship Notables 2, Everyday Button Sentiments (all by Whimsy Stamps)
Papers: My Minds Eye (lost and found collection), neenah solar crest
Tools: Lace border 1 die, notables 2 die, button die, janome sew mini for coloring
Embellishments: glitter and twine

Here is a closeup of the cute image.

I would love to enter my card to the following challenges:
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the rest of the week!
