Heaven on Earth

I was checking out pinterest last night (which I pretty much do every night) and found some gorgeous pins on the Penny Black board. One of the cards that has caught my eye was this beauty by Elizabeth Allan. I wanted to recreate it but of course not having the same stamps I had to go with what I have at home.

I started out with partially inking up the script background stamp with "old paper" distress ink, and stamped it onto neenah card stock. Then I used an ink applicator tool to add my colors. I thought the image "Kansas" by Mo Manning would go great with all kinds of colors, so I used several colors of the rainbow. After inking up the background, I decided to use the stamp "butterfly suite" by Penny Black in the background, using "weathered wood" distress ink. I needed something on the  bottom portion, so I got out a stamp from the retired SU stamp set "watercolor garden", and that is what I created the circles on the bottom portion of the card with. Inked the edges some more with "faded jeans" ink and then added my image.

I colored the image using faber castell polychromos pencils and copics for the skin tones.
The ticket sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps. I also used the ticket die (also by whimsy) to cut it out. The "thanks" sentiment is from Stampin up. I embellished with a button and twine, and matted it onto white card stock. Then sewed the edges. And I added a little bit of glitter to her silver slippers, the dress and the hair bows.

Here is another view.

I created this card for this week's challenge at
Mo's Digital Challenge, with the theme of "thank you". And I am combining it with a few other challenges too.
Anything Goes Challenge Handmade Backgrounds, at
Crafty Sentiments the challenge is Stitching, then at
Cards in Envy the challenge is "make your own background".

And that is all for today. I have to get ready for work now, so I better get going. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

By the Sea

Hello again and Happy Monday! Happy Memorial Day to all of you celebrating in the US.

I have a card to share today using the gorgeous set "Guiding Light" from Whimsy Stamps' Raindrop Echo collection.

This set was just released and I think it is totally gorgeoeous. Especially great for those hard to make masculine cards.
All of the "sea elements" you see here, including the sentiment, are part of the set. I was going to leave the image uncolored, but then decided to dig out my SU chalk pastels and add a little bit of soft coloring.
The anchor and steering wheel were cut out by hand and added with dimensionals. The designer paper is from a 6x6 pack by My Minds Eye (from hobby lobby).
I embellished with soem twine, a little flower and button, and did some sewing around the edges.

Here is another view

If you haven't seen the new Whimsy Stamps yet, be sure to check them out. Gorgeous nautical images and sentiments have been released, including an achor and wheel die, nautical postage sentiments, sailboat set, and more.

Here is an image of the set I used today.

Red White and Blue for Digital Pencil Challenge

I am back with another card today. I had colored this image over the weekend to play along in this week's digital pencil challenge. The theme there this week is "red white and blue" with a Mo Manning image. This is another one of my favorite images by Mo Manning, had it for quite some time and  I thought this strawberry cutie would be perfect to use for this challenge.

As usual she's been colored using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, with copics for the skin. I fussy cut it out and adhered it onto the embossed white card stock. I kept the card pretty simple, just added some paper strips in the colors of white and blue to the top, and finished it off with a little flower and some twine. The sentiment is from the set "Summer Letter Seals" by Whimsy Stamps.

Here is another view.

I am entering this card to the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your day!

A window of hope for Whimsy Stamps Challenge

Hello and a happy wednesday to you all!

I made today's card for Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Challenge. The theme for this month is simply "anything goes". There are still a couple of weeks left to play along for a chance at one of the fabulous prizes up for grabs.

Today is also the new May Rubber Stamps and Die release, and some of the DT girls are holding a blog hop today, and there is another chance to win!

For my card today I used one of the brand new stamp sets by Whimsy's Illustrator Monika Martinson. I just fell in love with this set, and had to have it. The set is called "Window of Hope".

To make my card I stamped the iamge onto white card stock (neenah), and after coloring  I cut it out. I stamped it a second time and this time I just cut out a couple of flowers and popped them up with dimensionals.

The paper is from Prima marketing. I kept it pretty simple, just used the Whimsy Stamps lace doily  border 1 die on the right side, and a little bit of ribbon plus glitter.

I also added some glassy glaze to the window, you ca see it better in this photo.

I hope you liked today's card. If you have time then go check out the challenge blog for more of this month's rubber stamp release creation, and then if you have time why not hop along in today's release hop?

I am playing along in a couple of challenges too:

LEJ Designs  Die Cuts &/or Punches
Speedy and Friends -  Window

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your day!

Whimsy Stamps May Rubber and Die Sneak Peek Blog Hop

Hello everybody and thanks so much for stopping by!

It's almost time for Whimsy Stamps May Rubber and Die release! And we are holding a sneak peek blog hop today, to show you some of the goodies available tomorrow.

It's going to be another fabulous release, with lots of cuties and beautiful stamps from the Whimsy Stamps Illustrators/artists, and of course there are going to be some fabulous dies, shape EZ templates and designer papers too!

I hope you'll have time to join us in today's hop, as there is going to be a prize hidden on one of the participating blogs. You will have 24 hours to hop along by leaving a comment, to be entered into the draw. The hop will close at 12 noon EST tomorrow (wednesday). Then there will be 2 more hops and two additional chances to win, so be sure to hop along on each day for more chances to win.

For my card today, I used the super adorable stamp set "Naughty Puppies" illustrated by Sylvia Zet. This set will be available to purchase in red rubber tomorrow at Whimsy Stamps.

These puppies were all so cute, I just had to use them all on the card. I started by stamping them onto white card stock, coloring them and then I cut each of them out. It did take forever to cut them out. If you don't like cutting, they could also just be cut out inside the circle.

I colored them using my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Glitter was added to each of the flowers and the decorations on the cup, but it's hard to see in the photos.

Here is another view.

I used SU's scallop circle punch and scallop border punch for the edges. The designer paper is from an old pack by Stampin up. Sentiment is part of the adorable stamp set. As you can see it's a pretty simple card, I just added a little bit of ribbon for embellishments.

I would love to enter this card to the following challenges:

Don't forget to leave comments on the blogs below for a chance to be entered into the prize draw on today's sneak peek hop. And then check out the Whimsy Inspirations Blog tomorrow at noon, to see the complete new release, and another fun blog hop.

Iris, Mary Lou, Melissa, Janette Ellie(me)

Have a wonderful day, and I hope you enjoy our sneak peek hop!

Little Wryn Flutterby

The kids are playing with their friends today, so I decided to play along in the Tiddly Inks Challenge. The theme is "Use a Wryn". I bought a couple of them a few months ago, and sadly didn't get a chance yet to use them. Glad I was able to today. By the way, there is a really cute Wryn freebie posted on the Tiddly Inks blog for use in their challenge, for those that don't have any of the Wryn images.

For my card I used the cute image Wryn Flutterby.
I just love this cutie! She's been colored  using my colored pencils, the dress was paper pieced. I used a sepia pencil to add some shading to the dress.

It's a pretty simple sketch. Just layered some SU designer papers, and added the sentiment, with the flourish tucked under. Added some ribbon and a punched and layered flower. Of course all the wings needed some glitter too.

Just playing in a few challenges today,

Penny Black and More - midmonth reminder

Click HERE for my word play saturday - May challenge.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a card to share today, that I made using images from a Penny Black Stickeroo Sheet. These sheets are so perfect for quick cards, and the coloring on them is just so professionally done.

I made this for  the midmonth reminder of our challenge at Penny Black and More. There are still about 2 weeks left to enter into our challenge, the theme is "Sew Special". It's actually two challenges in one, either create a card for someone special, or do some sewing on your card, or you can do both.

The beautiful flower stickeroo was adhered onto some white card stock, then onto saffron card stock. After adhering it onto the designer paper, I did some sewing, since our challenge at Penny Black at More this month is "Sew Special". And of course since I love sewing on cards, as long as my sewing machine behaves.

The designer paper is from Stampin up, old and retired, I thought the blue matched the swirls from the image perfectly.
The butterfly on the left is also part of the sheet, I cut it out, adhered it onto card stock, and added it with a glue dot.
To finish it off, I added some glitter, a white ribbon and tucked the sentiment under. The sentiment is from a set by Whimsy Stamps.

Here is a closeup.

I would love to enter this card to the following challenges:

Always Something CreativePlants
By the Cute & Girly - - Flowers
 One Crazy Stamper - Flowers
Sarah Hurley Challenges -  Shades of Blue
Simon Says Stamp - Flowers

We have 3 fabulous sponsors again this month, each offering fabulous prizes, so lots of chances to win.

Our lovely sponsors

No need to use a Penny Black stamp, as long as it is not a digital stamp, you can use any brand of stamp, or stickeroo. Hope you'll join us. In addition to the prizes, we are also looking for guest designers too. Anyone that enters a card can have a chance at being chosen.

Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend with some fun things planned!

Clean and Simple for Digital Pencil Challenge

I wanted to play in this week's challenge at digital pencil, the challenge is CAS and I thought that is easy  enough, as I think my cards tend to be sort of CAS .Well, I have to admit, this card took me forever to make, and I am still not 100 % happy with it. I think it is missing the sewing, but I wanted to keep it simpler, so I just did paper piercing instead.

Sorry about the bad photo, the sun is going down, and unfortunately I won't have time to photograph it tomorrow, as I will be pretty much out of the house all day.

The image I used today is called "for a teacher". Another one of my favorite Mo Manning images. It can be found HERE.
I colored the image using my faber castell polychromos pencils. Papers are from my minds eye and dcwv. Card stock is stampin up and neenah.

Kept it pretty simple, just added a little ribbon and a flower, and a little flourish (made with whimsy's leafy corner die set) for embellishments.

Just playing in a few challenges today

Big cake

Hello again everyone, it's one of those rare days where I have two posts in one day. I had this image already printed out and thought it would be perfect to use for this week's digital pencil challenge where anything goes.

And then I also wanted to enter into the Catered Crop Challenge, with the theme of "make an impression" (embossing), so I created this clean and simple card. The challenge at CASual friday is a tic tac toe, I chose the row of bling, birthday and diecuts/punches. My bling is a little hard to see, it's in form of glitter on the candles and the flower.

Products used:
  • Stamps: Tall cake digi (Mo Manning), sentiment from set sweet froggies (whimsy stamps)
  • Papers: neenah white, and SU pink
  • Embellishments: prima flowers, brad, flower button, stickles glitter, twine.
  • Tools: copics for coloring, cuttlebug embossing folder, nestabilities die, vines die (whimsy stamps), word window punch (SU), distress ink, ink applicator
Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your upcoming week! Oh, and don't forget to check out my current word play saturday challenge, where the theme is "weather". There are only about 5 days to enter for a chance to win a cute stamp.

Sew Special for Penny Black and More - May Challenge

It's the first Sunday of May, that means we have a new challenge for you at Penny Black and More.

I hope you'll find some time to join us this month, as always you don't have to use a Penny Black stamp, any make will work, the only restriction is that it cannot be a digital stamp.

This month our challenge is "Sew Special". Simply make a card for someone special, and sewing (real or faux) is optional.

Of course I did some sewing because I love the look of sewing on my cards, but after finishing this card,  I was so ready to throw my sewing machine out the window. It jammed so many times, I almost gave up...Well, here it is, a pretty bad sewing job, I need to figure out exactly what's going on with it. It's not even that old, surely not even 2 years old.

I've been wanting to place another Penny Black order for some time now, but every time I look at their stamps, I just can't decide on which ones to get (since there are so many that I love), so I thought I'd get a couple sheets of stickeroos instead. Of course, now that I have used this cute image from the sheet, and absolutely loved creating with it, I need to get the actual stamp too, so I can use it again. It will definitely be in my next PB order.

Here is a close up picture. I don't know if you can see in the photo below, but the image was popped up with dimensionals, after adhering it onto card stock and cutting it out.

The butterfly stamp is from Flonz stamps, who is one of our sponsors this month. I used a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps (Friendship Notables 2), along with the matching die. The flourish was made using Whimsy's "vines" die. Thought it was perfect to use with this penny black image. Papers are all from my stash, glad I was able to find some  retired stampin up "sage shadow" card stock because it was the perfect match for my designer papers.

I would love to enter my card to a few other challenges:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge -  Anything Goes
Crafty Calendar -  Blooms and Blossoms
Di's Digis Designs -Anything but Square
Our Creative Corner - Anything Goes
Country View Crafts' Challenge - How Does Your Garden Grow

Thanks so much for stopping by, and if you'd like to check out the Penny Black and More challenge simply click the logo below. We have several prizes up for grabs again this month by these generous sponsors: Penny Black, Crafts U Love, Flonz. And you can enter up to 3 times for more chances to win.

Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog

Enjoy your day and happy stamping!!

What a Loot

Had some time yesterday to make a card, and I decided to use the cute stamp "What a Loot" from Whimsy's Crissy Armstrong collection, to play in a few challenges.
I decided to make it a little different from my regular "fold in the middle" cards, and thought I'd give Lori's crisscross card tutorial a try.

I followed Lori's tutorial from Whimsy's Tips and Tutorial Print Magazine . I would give you the direct link to the tips and turorial magazine, but since the cost includes shipping it depends which country you would order it from, so I am just linking their entire print magazine collection, and you can find the right one for you, should you decide to pre-order it.

The tutorial  can also be found in Issue #8 of Whimsy' free online magazine.

I made a tag to go into the pocket, using a stamp from the set "Birthday Greetings", also just released in Whimsy's last rubber stamp release.
It's hard to tell in the photo, but I added glassy glaze to the balloon, and glitter on the party hat and bows.

The balloons on the left were done using Whimsy's balloon cluster die. But I cut them apart and only used 2 of the balloons to make it work with my design.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:

The Stamping Chef - For a Boy (2nd week)
Penny's Paper-Crafty -Animals
Southern Girls -  You can say that...quote or sentiment on card
