Fun with Stencils

Hello and welcome! It's time for my weekly Allsorts challenge card share and this time around it's Lorraine's turn to host. Her optional theme is "Stencils" and we can't wait to see how you incorporate them on your creations but as there is an Anything Goes option all other entries are welcome too! We have a new set of prizes for the challenges ending in June (which includes this one) and remember the winners post for the last few challenges including the special birthday challenge from last week has been announced on the challenge blog so be sure to take a peek as there were may winners!

Here is what you can win in the upcoming challenges including today's. They are from Sizzix, AALL and Create, Aldridge Crafts, Lavinia and Ruth Hamilton Design.

Stencils are probably my current favorite crafting tool besides stamps so of course I went with the optional theme and I used 2 stencils on today's card.

Unfortunately I threw away the packages from my stencils so I can't tell you who the maker is but there are many fabulous floral stencils available as well as honeycomb stencils. I used my old trusty French Script (SU) background stamp for more interest, then added the butterflies which were done with a Martha Stewart punch. Sentiment is from one of Tim Holtz's Quotations sticker sets. I can always find a quote there when I'm not sure what type of quote/sentiment I want to use. Thought the card needed something else so I used a white Sakura gelly roll pen to add small dots around each flower petal.

I layered the image/stencilled panel onto some Twisted Citron inked card stock then purple card stock from Stampin Up. A few sticky rhinestones added to the butterflies' bodies finish it off.

It's a Birthday Celebration at Allsorts Challenge!!

Hello everyone, we are having a special Birthday week at Allsorts challenge as we are celebrating Allsorts' 14th Birthday!! What an accomplishment, well done Brenda running the challenge blog so smoothly all these years!! We are celebrating with a fabulous giveway of several prizes from the wonderful AALL and Create which you can see in the photo below. There will be several lucky winners so hopefully you will join us!

The theme is "Anything Goes" just be sure to follow our simple rules to be eligible.

And here is what I made:

This image is from an older Penny Black clear set - Micey Day. I stamped on Bristol Vellum paper and colored with Distress inks and Zig Clean Color markers. I found the dotted frame in my box of scraps. Embossed background was done with a Sizzix for SU embossing folder.

I used an old cherry die from my design team days at Whimsy stamps so it's no longer available but maybe this would be an alternative option. The sentiment is from the Colorado Craft Company stamp set So Sweet. I embellished with natural jute twine by May Arts and some red sequins.

Sending Froggy Smiles

It's Saturday again and that means a new challenge starts today at Allsorts and it's Mervi's week to host. Her optional theme for the week is "Embellish It", super easy I think and then of course there is the "Anything Goes" option so hope you will join in with us for your chance to win or to be in Mervi's Top 5!

I've been dealing with flu-like symptom this past week so I was looking for an easy sketch to use for this week's card and found this one at Atlantic Heart Sketch Challege

An embossing folder makes a quick and easy background. This folder is by Spellbinders - Flowers and Leaves. While I was looking for a stamp to use, I came across a sheet of Penny Black stickeroos and I thought this frog would fit perfectly. (Sorry I can't add a link, they are no longer available). Stickeroos are very thin so I stuck it onto Neenah cardstock  then fussy cut.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Sweet Wishes. I used various paper scraps to cut out the banners and butterflies. I wanted to follow Mervi's optional theme so I embellished with jute twine and added tiny rhinestones to the butterflies. Some stickles glitter on the flower center too but it's not showing up in the pictures.

Prizes are from WOWVOW, Oakwood Direct and Craft Stash, these will be for challenges 726, 727 and 728. Then for challenge 729 (next week) we're having a special Birthday celebration with lots prizes to be won. That will be on May 20th!!! We'd love for you to share the logo below on your own blogs to help us spread the word!

April Showers bring May Flowers

Hello everyone, it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and this week Brenda is hosting with the optional theme of "April Showers bring May Flowers" and we can't wait to see what you'll create.

I went with "showers" as the focus but there are flowers included here too. The silhouette stamps (girl and duck) are from a retired Stampin Up set (Million Dollar Moments). The flowers are from Lavinia stamps (Lavender). On the background I used a stencil also from Lavinia. Sentiment is part of this Penny Black sentiment set.

Related Products:

I embellished with some sheer polka dot ribbon, die cut flowers and dew drops. The patterned paper I used behind the image panel is ancient, from my early scrapbooking days circa 2002 when my papercrafting adventures began :)

As a reminder, prizes come from WOWVOWOakwood Direct and Craft Stash, these will be split between challenges 726, 727 and 728 with winners announced on May 26th. There is another set of prizes for our birthday challenge on May 20th (challenge729) so lots of chances to win this month!

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - May Challenge

Hello and welcome to Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - May challenge taking place right here on my blog! I'm so glad you stopped by today and hope you decide to join in the linkup of all things crafty too! It always makes me happy to see so many of you share! Lots of fabulous entries last month so be sure to scroll down to see last month's top picks!

As always at Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday the theme is now.....................

Anything  Goes,

and instead of a challenge theme there will be a "Top Pick Twist" but nobody knows what the twist will be (not even me) until the challenge closes as it will be inspired by YOUR creations. So do link up all your new or recently created projects for a chance to be featured. Remember, you may share anything crafty, handmade by you. It doesn't have to be a card.

And here is what I made for May:

I used a new to me stamp set by Visible Image - Butterfly Effect. I spritzed some water onto Mixed Media card stock then sprinkled Brusho powders onto it. I probably should have used less powder but it had been while since I used it and forgot how little of it is needed.

The card was quick to make. After the ink dried I stamped the circles onto the card then the butterfly onto a scrap piece of paper, fussy cut and inked with Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. I used a Sakura white gel pen to highlight the dots on the butterflies and around the circles.

This is only my second Visible Image stamp set I own but I really loved using it and may need to get a few more.

The Top Pick Twist from the April entries is ..... Botanicals.

The Four Seasons Challenge May - Fluffy on the Lily

Hello everyone! It's a new month and that means it's time for a new challenge at the Four Seasons challenge blog! Hard to believe it's May already, how time flies!! This is our last month of Spring challenges for the year and hope you will join us with all your new spring themed creations! As always we have a fabulous mood board but it's optional to use.

I always like to use the mood board for inspiration and had several ideas in my mind yet it took me a while to actually get started on this month's DT card. As I finally sat down to create a card with a May Day "basket" which was one of the ideas I had, I remembered this little cutie from Whimsy Stamps and he surely has been neglected for many years so I scratched the May Day basket card idea and made this card instead. This is "Fluffy on the Lily" illustrated by Sylvia Zet for Whimsy Stamps. I have it in rubber but it is now available in digital format from Whimsy Stamps and no longer as a rubber stamp.

Below is the optional mood board for May.

I stamped the image on Canson watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx ink then used Distress inks and Zig Clean Color markers for coloring. I created a little scene by using a brick wall stencil and a grass stencil. I inked some cardstock with Twisted Citron and Rustic Wilderness ink, cut it out using a hill die and then stamped the words which is also a retired stamp from Whimsy.

The sentiment in black is from the Tim Holtz's Small Talk sticker book. I embellished with a couple tiny butterflies and stickyback pearls. Then I found this twine already tied in a bow on my desk intended for a previous project but then didn't use. I thought it was a perfect finishing touch here so I added it.

You have until May 25th to join us this month. Hope to see you there :)
