Allsorts Challenge 523: Fantasy World

This week at Allsorts challenge it's my turn to host and I picked the theme of "Fantasy World". I'd love for you to join us .... we have a beautiful stamp set from Crafty Devils to give away this week.

I knew I wanted to use Lavinia stamps for my "Fantasy" card. It's never easy for me to decide what colors to choose but I decided to go with some purples, orange, pink and blue Distress Inks/Oxides and randomly inked up the background with an ink blending tool. I used a circle die cut to mask the moon. The florals on the background were done with Penny Black sets Sprigs and Butterfly Garden. Stamped words are from a retired set by Whimsy Stamps and I used one of Tim Holtz's stencil to add a design to the background. The mushrooms and fairies from Lavinia stamps were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturn ink. Sentiment is from the Penny Black set Snippets

I used a glitter pen to add some sparkles to the fairy wings and flower.

Allsorts Challenge 520 and 521: Happy Birthday Allsorts Challenge!!

For the next two weeks at Allsorts challenge we are celebrating 10 years of challenges with a Birthday theme. This means we want to see birthday specific cards!

I've had this gorgeous image by Mo Manning on my wish list for a really long time, and this was the perfect opportunity to finally purchase it! It was one of her earlier images  released, and honesty I have no idea what took me so long!!  I'm sorry if these pictures aren't perfect. I struggled taking the photo inside, maybe it's because the card is larger than my usual card and my 8x8 photo tent wasn't a good fit for it. I had trouble with lighting and outside we had perfect sunshine, so I decided to photogragh outside. Now I feel like it's a little bit too bright...

This was taken inside ... I can't tell which one is better, but definitely like the "backdrop" on the first one more, but the glitter only really show on the photo taken inside.

I colored with Copic markers on Xpess It Blending Card. Still struggling with digis and copics (I need a better printer!) so not much blending I could do as the ink will smear. But isn't this image GORGEOUS!! I wish she came as a rubber stamp so I could watercolor her!

I used a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil  for a subtle background design with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The papers are from my stash, and the Happy Birthday sentiment I've had forever. It's from a Stampin Up set, but I separated the set and I don't remember the name of the set. I think the font is perfect for girly birthday cards. I found a flower shaped button in my box of buttons, and the color couldn't be more perfect, so I used it with some cotton twine. The tiny "make a wish" sentiment is from the Penny Black Snippets set. I distressed the edge of image panel and mat.

Both my wink of stella brushes are running low, so I used some liquid watercolor glitter that came in a past Hero Arts Kit (unfortuntely I don't remember which kit).  Also, I used the Hero Arts Limited Edition set for the back of my card (It's not a limited edition set, it's just the name of the stamp set). I love all the little stamps included in this set for the back of cards and it's only $7.99! You can see in the photo below how I used the set on this card.

Mo Manning Sugar // Penny Black Snippets // Birthday Sentiment by SU - Set Unknown // Hero Arts Limited Edition // Xpess It Blending Card // Copic Markers // Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Mesh // Antique Linen Distress Ink // Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink // Liquid Watercolor Glitter from a Hero Arts Kit // Pattern Papers from Stash // Cotton Twine from Stampin Up

Today would have also been the day to share a Penny Black and More mid-month creation. Unfortunately I didn't get to make a card for this month's midway reminder post (we had such wonderful weather and I NEEDED to get my vegetables planted because I knew lots of rain was going to follow those sunny days; in addition to that I've been working ahead on some June and July DT cards, so that kept me busy as well.

Please do grab our logo to display on your own blog

Anyway, this month at Penny Black and More our theme is Feminine Creations, but it's an optional theme, so it's pretty much "Anything Goes" as long as you follow the challenge rules. And we do have many wonderful prizes there as usual! We would love for you to join us there as well, and if you already have - remember you may enter up to 3 times for more chances to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you're having a wonderful sunny weekend. Rain rain and more rain in our forecast again!

Penny Black and More September Challenge

Good morning, it's the first Sunday of the new month and that means we have a new theme at Penny Black and More challenge. This month we want to see feminine creations, and hope you'll join us for a chance to win one of the fantastic prizes we're giving away from our wonderful sponsors!

I made a simple card for today. The Cupcake fairy was heat embossed on Bristol Vellum paper and she's been colored with Zig Clean Color watercolor markers and a Zig Detailer waterbrush. The sentiment from the set  Friendship was also heat embossed, this time with white embossing powder on black card stock. Patterned paper is by DCWV, I've had for a really long time, I think it's from the Birthday Stack, and I added a pink button with some jute twine as an embellishment. A wink of stella glitter brush was used to add some sparkle to the cupcake, tutu, fairy wings and tiara. The card base is Neenah linen textured card stock.

Allsorts 483: Things with Wings

I have been wanting to purchase some Lavinia stamps for a loooong time, and finally decided on which ones to get first a few months ago (it was not easy because I pretty much have all of their stamps on my wish list but I had to keep the order under $100). Well, it took me another few months to finally ink them up. I know that sounds crazy ... but these types of cards are just out of my comfort zone so I kept putting it off. But, you know how it is, you can't get better at something if you're not trying it, and today's theme at Allsorts challenge was the perfect opportunity to finally ink up this gorgeous fairy.

Our theme this week is "Things with Wings".

I used a large circle die cut to mask the "moon" and then inked the card stock with Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans distress inks and then removed the mask. Next I stamped the image with the help of my Tonic Stamp Platform using Versafine Onyx Ink and heat embossed with clear powder. The "spiral of spells" was stamped over the masked moon using Stormy Sky ink again, but stamped off once before stamping, because I wanted the words to be "barely there" ...but I kind of wish I hadn't stamped off, they just turned out a little bit lighter than I wanted, but they are more visible in real life.

The poppies and willow were first stamped with stormy sky ink, then with versafine onyx ink.
Framed the image with a retired Stampin Up card stock (I think the color is Brocade Blue) It's a perfect match for the Stormy Sky distress ink. The card base is Neenah linen textured card stock. A sticky rhinestone was place in the center of the spiral spell sentiment.

More poppies for Penny Black and More

Hi everyone, today I am sharing the card I made for the Penny Black and More challenge reminder, and it's also the card I made for my Mother-in-Law for Mother's Day which was celebrated last Sunday here in the States (and in some other parts of the world).
To make my card, I first masked the edges of the the white card stock using washi tape and added a circle mask for the sun (or moon). The grass and sky were inked, then I used a word border stamp by Whimsy Stamps on the grass part. The masks were removed after inking and then I stamped the poppy image. I stamped it again on designer paper and fussy cut the blossoms. Not sure if you can tell, but I used a clear wink of stella brush on the flowers. The poppy pods were colored using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.  I finished off the card by adding a punched butterfly with some sticky pearls.

And below is the inspiration photo/colors.
May

Use the image or colors as your inspiration and come play along.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. The weather was perfect and my family surprised me with this beautiful garden fairy. This year I decided to plant some Hostas around our large tree in the backyard and I thought this pretty fairy fits so well into this setting.
The pink flowers on the right side don't seem very happy, it's only because they were just planted before I took this photo on Mother's Day,  they do look beautiful now. The bench is really old and "use at your own risk" 😁, but the squirrels like sitting on it so it is staying. Plus it makes a good spot for the little fairy garden my daughter and I planted.

This week I also finished planting all my vegetables, I bought more than I could fit into the garden, so hopefully they will still grow, as I had to squeeze some in.

Hope you all have a great rest of the week, I will be back again on Saturday with my card for the Allsorts special birthday challenge.
