People for Digital Tuesday

Hello and happy tuesday!

I actually have a little sad news to share today along with my Digital Tuesday card.
I had to come to the decision to step down from my owner position at digital tuesday due to the fact that I have been working a few more days than originally planned at my regular job, which of course makes for less crafting time. And since Digital Tuesday was the most time consuming part of my hobby, with all that it takes to "run" it, it was what I chose to give up, so I still have the time to spend with my family, and still be able to enjoy my hobby.

Luckily Lora who was on the team with me from the very beginning has agreed to take over the Digital Tuesday Challenge blog, so the challenges will continue!

And here is my last Digital Tuesday card. I used a digi from our sponsor "Guylou inimitability".

Our challenge theme this week was chosen by Michelle and she would like to see

"People images".

This image was so much fun to work with! I colored it with Derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil. I don't know if you can tell by the picture, but one of the pumpkins was popped up with a dimensional.

The papers are from DCWV, Stampin Up, and Neenah. Embellished with some hemp twine and paper pierced the bottom edge.

The sentiment is from a brand new Whimsy Rubber Stamp Set : Autumn Seals by Raindrop Echo. It's such a great set to use with fall images, and it's still on sale for 10% off along with all the other newly released rubber stamps for just a couple more days or until out of stock.

I would love to enter my card to the following challenges:
Thank you so much for stopping by! And hopefully you'll be able to check back tomorrow for the final day of Whimsy Stamps showcase with a mini blog hop!

Digital Tuesday is going buggy

Hello and happy tuesday!!

We have a new challenge for you over at Digital Tuesday! Our theme this week is

Going Buggy

and we have a fabulous prize up for grabs from our amazing sponsor Doodle Pantry

In order to be within a chance of winning all you have to do is create something with a bug (or bugs) on it, don't forget to use something digital and link it up at digital tuesday (link in my side bar) ! I hope you'll join us!

Here is what I made.

Photobucket

The Design Team was so lucky to receive the set "ant masquerade" from our sponsor. This set is amazing, it comes with all of the elements seen in my card above, plus may sentiments too. Not only will you receive the set with the image as seen above, they also come as single images too. And all that for the prize of $2.50 WOW!! That is amazing!
Here is a quick image of the whole set

Ant Masquerade

As you can see, my card is pretty simple. I simply colored it using my derwent coloursoft pencils, layered the image onto some kiwi kiss card stock, and then adhered it to the white card base. I did some paper piercing along the top and bottom edges. I thought this party sentiment would be perfect to use with these masquerading ants. It's from the set "mini party letter seals" from Whimsy Stamps. Another amazing set, this one comes in rubber, and you get 15 cling mounted red rubber stamps in this set for $8.

Party Mini Letter Seals

Ok, now here are a few challenges I'd like to enter with this card:
That should be all for today. Hopefully you'll find some time to join us this week!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back Thursday with not one but two cards and some fun news too!
Have a great day!!

Cute and girly for digital tuesday

Happy Tuesday!
Hope you are enjoying your week so far! It's been good here so far, the kids are back in school ready to learn :-) I have lots of things planned while they are at school, will finally have a chance at sorting through all those toys and maybe I'll even find some time to paint my kitchen. But of course I won't be neglecting my hobby :-)

We have a new challenge for you over at digital tuesday. This week it was Karen's turn to choose a theme and she'd like to see something

Cute and Girly!

I know this one is easy for most of us so I hope you will all join. There is of course a fabulous prize up for grabs too! This week we have

Phindy's Place

sponsoring us, and is giving away one of her adorable $3 digis to one lucky randomly chosen winner.

Here is my card.

I decided to use one of Phindy's digis, I had it for a while and only used it once, so this was my chance to use it again. Love this little fairy.

The images has been colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and copic markers. Paper is from DCWV and main card stock is from Stampin Up. White is Neenah and Georgia Pacific. I embellished with prima flowers, brads, punched out leaves, and ribbon, and then applied some glitter to the wings.
The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps (party mini letter seals rubber set found here).
To finish it off I used my janome mini sewing machine around the edges.

Here is a close up of the image.

I'd love to enter my card to the following challenges:
And that is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by!

I love the sea

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We have a new challenge for you over at digital tuesday. This week it was Anneke's turn to set the theme and she chose...

I love the sea.

Create a sea themed project.
This week we are happily sponsored by 2 cute rubber stamps. And the design team was generously given a few of their cuties to play with.
Picture
I used the digi Mermaid and friends, which can be found here along with several other cuties.
Here is my card.

Definitely one of the cutest mermaid images I came across.

It has been colored using derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil. Copic markers for the skin tones.
Papers are from Bo Bunny (I think), Card Stock is Neenah (white) and Stampin Up (island indigo). I just love that new stampin up in-color.

I embellished with a little star button, silver cord and then did some stitching along the edges. Glitter was added to the mermaid, you can see it better if you click on the picture.

Would love to enter my card to the following challenges:
Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you'd like to play along in this week's challenge simply click the digital tuesday logo in my side bar. We have a fabulous prize up for grabs from 2 cute rubber stamps!!

Digital Tuesday Challenge- bling it up

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone and thanks so much for visiting! I have a new card to share today for this week's Digital Tuesday Challenge.
Our Theme this week was chosen by the lovely Maria, and she would like us to
Bling it up.

Here is what I created.

We are being sponsored by Paper Fashions, etc, and the Design Team was given some button cards to play with. I had no idea what exactly a button card is, then after looking at some amazing samples on their blog, I had this idea to create a vintage style card and use a button card on it.
The image of the girl was a freebie that I picked up at Tina46's blog. She has the most amazing vintage cards on her blog and lots of beautiful free vintage pictures too.

I am combining this with the following challenges:
That should be it for this card. I hope you'll play along with us this week for a chance at a fabulous prize from Paper Fashion etc.

Products used:
  • Stamps: digi-Paper fashion button card, freebie girl photo -links are posted above, sentiment SU
  • Papers: Stampin up, designer paper from stash, neenah white card stock, paper lace doily
  • Embellishments: Prima flowers, clear sticky rhinestones, buttons, silver cord, lace
  • Tools: janome sew mini, oval punch, scissors for distressing

Have a great day!!

Favorite Ice Cream Combos for digital tuesday

If you're here for Word Play Weekend please scroll down one post!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello and happy tuesday!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and a good start of the week! My weekend was much much better than last weekend, and our kitty Thomas is recovering from his surgery (partial tail amputation). He is getting his stitches out today and he already seems to be back to his mischievous self.

Today's card is for Digital Tuesday Challenge. Lora is our hostess and she wants to see our

favorite ice cream combo colors.

What a great idea for a challenge!! Of course my number 1. ice cream flavor is just plain chocolate! But I also love vanilla bean with hot raspberries as topping, so those are my colors. Then there is a bit green in my card for pistachio ice cream, another one of my favorites, which I remember being green in Germany but the one I found here in America wasn't green.

The card is an easel card and I added a tag to the inside.

I made this card for my daughter's upcoming birthday. The image is from Whimsy Stamps, Crissy Armstrong's Dance of Love. My daughter loves carousels, and I know she loves this image because I let her choose the image she wanted on her card, and from the many many digis I have this is what she wanted!

But she won't see the card until her birthday. I know she is going to love it, because she always wants me to use these roses on the cards I make but I never do because they don't seem practical when mailing so I usually stay away from using them. But since this card won't be mailed I decided to use them.

Here is a close up of the image.

It has been colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and used baby oil for blending. I applied some glitter to the mane and tail and also on the flowers. I have also added some lace and did some sewing. And then I placed some pearls to the top right corner.

The sentiment is also from Whimsy Stamp, from the rubber stamp set "mini party letter seals" found here.

I'd love to combine this card with the following challenges:
I hope you'll play along with us this week! We have My Grafico sponsoring us this week offering one digistamp set plus 20% off of to one lucky winner!! To play along all you have to do is make a card using your favorite ice cream combo colors and then link it at digital tuesday!

Hope to see you there!!

Clean and simple Animal Friends

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Tuesday everyone and thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and good memorial day!

We have a new challenge for you at Digital Tuesday, and this week it's Anneke's turn to host.
The theme she chose is:

Animal friends.

I hope you get to join us this week for a chance at a fabulous rubberstamp or digistamp prize from our sponsor, 2 cute rubberstamps.
The design team also had the chance to choose from a few digis. I couldn't help but fall in love with this cute little penguin.

I decided to create a clean and simple card. The image has been colored with copic markers. I added a strip of designer paper to create some interest and then used some black gingham ribbon and did some paper piercing along the top.

Products used:
Stamps: digi - 2 cute rubberstamps, sentiment - sale a bration SU
Paper: Neenah white, DCWV designer paper
Accessories: ribbon, prima flower, sticky pearl, glitter
Tools: copics, paper piercing tool set (SU)

I'd like to enter this card to the following challenges:

That is all for today. If you like to play along, simply create a card or other project using something digital and some animals.

Be sure to check back here tomorrow for my June Penny Black at All sorts Challenge card, and don't forget tomorrow is new digital release day at Whimsy stamps!! You won't want to miss it!

Some Texture for Digital Tuesday

Please click here for Word Play Weekend Challenge #3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Tuesday everyone and thank you so much for visiting my blog!
It's time for a new challenge over at Digital Tuesday (see link in sidebar) and this week Amy is our hostess. She would like to see some

Texture.

That can be embossing folders or powders, fabrics, anything goes, as long as there is some texture on your projects.

This week we are being sponsored by "The Stamping Boutique" and Tracey, the owner of TSB generously let each Design Team member choose an image from their store. I fell in love with this "Valentines background", and thought it would be perfect to use for a textured card. I knew right away I was going to use popup dots for parts of this gorgeous image.

To make this card I printed it out a few times, so I would have enough parts to cut out for my popped up pieces.

Everything has been colore
d with derwent coloursoft pencils. I used a couple cuttlebug embossing folders for the card front. Added some ribbon and a button and then after photographing it I realized I forgot to add a sentiment. But I'll add it as soon as I get a chance.

Here is a better view of the image with the popped up parts.

I'd love to enter this card to the following challeng
es:
That should be all for today.
I hope you'll get to join us this week, there is a fabulous prize of 5 digis from our sponsor, the stamping boutique, up for grabs.

And one last reminder, if you love Penny Black stamps and would like to be part of the Penny Black at All Sorts Design Team be sure to enter your card now. There are only a few more days left to enter for a chance to be chosen as a DT member, and of course for a chance at winning one of the amazing prizes!

Have a great day!!

A clean and simple Thinking of you

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy tuesday everyone!

It's time for a new challenge over at digital tuesday, this week Sharon is our hostess and she'd like to see the sentiment "Thinking of you" on our projects.

This week we are being sponsored by My Grafico, who kindly gave the Design Team the set "Sew long flower" by artist Cheri Wenger. The image I used is part of this beautiful set.

I decided to do a clean and simple card this time, I simply colored the image with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil, and then adhered it to a "cuttlebugged" cardbase.
I added a (Martha Stewart) punched grass border to the card, embellished with some ribbon, and then I added a button to one of the flowers.
To finish it off I added some paper piercing.

The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

I am combining this card with the following challenges:
Hopefully you'll be able to join us this week! Our prize this week is a digistamp set of winner's choice from My Grafico, and a 20% discount to be used in their store.

Have a wonderful day!

Button up

Happy Tuesday

and

Happy Spring!!!

I am so excited that it is now officially spring!! I just love spring and I can't wait to see all the trees turn green!
I made this card for this week's Digital Tuesday challenge. Karen is our hostess and she chose the theme

Button up.

You can use one button or a lot of buttons. Of course we have another fabulous sponsor, this week it's the stamping boutique and they also generously gave the Design Team a few images to choose from. I fell in love with the "Fairies Frolic" image so of course it is what I chose to use.

I actually printed the image out three times because I wanted to do a 3D effect, but I am not sure it shows well in my picture. The flowers that you see are all part of this amazing image, as is the fairy sitting on the mushroom and all of the little fairies in the background.
The image can be purchased here.

Card front was adhered with pop up dots because I wanted the little fairies to be in the background. My paper is from my stash, I think it might be from a DCWV stack.
I kept the card pretty simple, and just embellished with the flowers which are part of the image, a button with silver cord and then to finish it off I did some paper piercing and added glitter. The sentiment is from the clear penny black stamp "critter party".

Here are a few other challenges I am combining this with:
I hope you find some time time to play along this week. There are 5 digis up for grabs from our amazing sponsor!! And they have so many to choose from!!

Have a happy and sunny day!
Ellie.

Digital Tuesday Blog Hop

Hi everyone and happy tuesday!!

Today is such an exciting day!! We are celebrating our 100th challenge over at Digital Tuesday!! And what better way to celebrate than with a blog hop!

If you arrived here from the amazing Anneke's blog , you are on the right track, but if not you will want to start at the beginning of the hop at LORA'S blog.

Each DT member is featuring one of our amazing sponsors with a prize from that sponsor. To win these prizes, all you have to do is leave a comment on each of the design team members blogs.
There is also a grand prize on the challenge blog which in order to win you must enter the challenge as you normally would (remember you can use any digital element, it doesn't have to be a digital image) and then collect all the "special" letters from the DT blogs and follow the instructions on the Digital Tuesday challenge blog when you reach the end of the hop.

My blog is being sponsored by the Paper Pretties. You can visit their store by simply clicking the logo below.

One randomly chosen winner off my comments on this post will receive 3 of their adorable digis!
I was also able to choose one of their images to use for today's blog hop, and with spring and easter around the corner I decided to go with a "spring celebration" card. I just love this cute image!!

Here is the other side of the oval.

The image and sentiment have both been printed out on the computer. Both were cut out using an oval shape. I taped some silver cord on the inside of one oval and then glued the two ovals together. I cut out a larger oval from the designer paper and also the card base. Then I taped the silver cord on the inside of the card and covered that with some matting. I really like how it sort of "swings". And I thought this image would be perfect for it! Papers are from Stampin up and I embellished with a prima flower, button and silver cord, and on the other side I attached a punched out butterfly (martha stewart punch), with some sticky pearls.

Now back to the blog hop info:
The letter you need from me is E.

And the next stop on the hop is Karen's fabulous blog!

Thanks so much for joining us for our 100th challenge blog hop and please remember to leave a comment on every blog along the way for a chance to win the prizes!!

Here is a list of the hop order is case you get lost.

DTC #97 - From the Heart - valentines card

Happy tuesday everyone and thank you for visiting my blog today! We have another fun challenge for you this week over at digital tuesday. The amazing Shelly is our hostess and she chose the theme

From the heart - valentine's theme

Our sponsor, Paper pretties, generously let each design team member choose one of their cute images. I chose the image "caffeine mouse". What a cutie!!

I used derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil for coloring. The image was printed out twice so I could pop up the mouses head, but it is hard to see in the picture. The edges were sponged with some turquois ink. My papers are old ones from stampin up. I embellished with some cuttlebug hearts, ribbon and stickles glitter.

Some challenges I combined here:
I hope you'll join us this week, there is a fabulous prize up for grabs from paper pretties.

And just a reminder, there is still lots of time to play in this month's Penny Black at All sorts challenge with the theme of "say it with flowers". Lots of prizes up for grabs there, all you have to do is make a card using a Penny Black image and then use some flowers.

Hope you'll have a fantastic day!

DTC #95 - A sketch by Natascha

Happy tuesday everyone!!!
Time for a new challenge over at Digital Tuesday. This week it was Natascha's turn to challenge us and she created a sketch for us to follow.

Of course we have another great sponsor, Stamp Fairy, giving away 3 of their cute digis to one lucky winner. They also generously gave the Design Team a couple of their images to "work" with.

The image I used is called "Thank you". Such a cutie! Of course cute animals are my favorite kind of images!

The image has been printed on my very last scrap piece of couture 80lb card stock. I really need to find another online source for this card stock as I found it was the best paper for digis (no smearing of ink at all with any coloring medium!) I did get some paper recently at a local printing shop, and it is ok too, but not as good as couture.
Anyway, back to the card, the image has been colored with derwent coloursoft and blended with baby oil.
Papers are from my overflowing box of scraps, which means I have no clue who the maker is. Black and Kraft Card stock are from stampin up. I used a couple of prima flowers with buttons and a flourish (tim holtz sizzix die) for embellishments. The sentiment is from the retired SU set "vases in vogue".

Hope you'll decide to play along, don't forget you can now use anything digital on your creations, doesn't have to be a digital image!

Have a great day,
Ellie.

DTC #94 Tropical Warmth

Happy tuesday and thanks so much for stopping by today!

We have another fun challenge over at digital tuesday, this week our theme is

Tropical Warmth!

It has been so cold over here, with snow and ice rain that this was a perfect reminder that summer will be here in only 6 short months!!!

For my card I have used an image from our sponsor Robyn's Fetish.

It's been colored with copic markers. The swimsuit and umbrella were paper pieced by simply printing the image out a second time on designer paper and cutting out, then adhering them onto the main image.
Then I stamped flourishes around the image with a stamp from paper inspirations which I picked up at Hobby Lobby. The sentiment is from the digital sentiment set "Summertime" by raindropecho available at Whimsy Stamps. I thought it was perfect to use with this image.

My papers are all from Stampin Up. The flower and scallop borders are from a stampin up simply scrappin kit that I had forever.
My sketch was inspired by a sketch from the lovely Anne-Marije, but I don't remember which challenge she created it for.

I have again combined this with a couple of other challenges, just 2 today:
Karber weekly (digi and ribbon)
Stamp Fairy (paper piecing)

Hope you liked the card and if you feel like you need a little bit of tropical warmth in your life why not join us at this challenge? Remember, you can now use anything digital, it doesn't have to be the main image! Plus you'll be entered into a drawing to win some cute digis from Robyn's Fetish!

Thanks again for stopping by,
and just a reminder, the Penny Black @ All Sorts Blog hop is going on right now with chances to win some gorgeous PB stamps on every DT members Blog.

Have a great day!!

DTC #93 - Shop till you drop and exciting news!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I have some super exciting news to share with you today! On New Years Day I received an invitation to join the Whimsy Stamps Digital Design Team. I am so super exciting!! What a great way to start the New Year!!

I just love their images and I am going to have so much fun!! Check back on thursday for my first Whimsy Stamps card as a Design Team member using a brand new not yet released image.

--------------------------------------

Now onto today's card,

we have a new challenge for you over at digital tuesday, this week was Karen's turn to choose a challenge and she chose something completely different from what we had before.

Shop till you drop

We'd like to see shopping bags, purses, shoes...anything shopping related. And from now on, it is not a requirement anymore to use a digital image, it can be anything digital: paper, sentiment or main image.

For my card I used a digital stamp from Amber Ink. It was a free set when I got it some time ago, when she first created her site. It is now available for purchase, plus she has lots more sets to choose from. She used to be one of the artists behind "Hanna stamps" which is now out of business, so you might be familiar with these images.

I have also used an image from the set "It's a girl thing" by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, from our sponsor My Grafico. The little birdie with banner is part of that digistamp set. I thought it would be fun to write something on that banner, so that is what I did.

Here's a close up of the little birdie image.

My Designer Paper is from Basic Grey and card stock is Stampin Up's kiwi kiss. I used my sewing machine to add some stitches to the two paper strips and embellished with a Prima flower, button and silver cord. The coloring was done with derwent coloursoft pencils and gamsol and I used a couple of copic markers for the skintones. To finish the card off I added some stickles glitter to the image and to the flower.

I am also entering this card to the following challenges:
As I mentioned above, My Grafico is sponsoring our challenge again this week, and they are giving away one digistamp set plus a 20% off voucher to one lucky winner. The winner even gets to choose the set and they have so many to choose from!! To enter all you have to do is follow our challenge theme and don't forget to use something digital.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Have a great day!
Ellie.

A little gift box

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

It's time for another challenge over at Digital Tuesday. This week it was Lora's turn to challenge us and she chose the theme

Sparkling Christmas

Our sponsor this week is Fairy Dust Crafts and the owner generously let the Design Team choose an image to work with. I went with Sammy Snowman. I was going to make a "snowman soup" in a baggie, then over the weekend I saw this gorgeous gift box that Vicki made for snowman soup, so I decided to try something new and make one of those. Thanks so much for the inspiration Vicki!! I have also used Maria's tutorial.

Along with the hot chocolate and candy cane I will be adding some hershey's kisses to the gift, along with a Border's gift card and then wrap it in cellophane.

The image has been colored with my derwent coloursoft and baby oil. Papers are from Bo Bunny (I think), card stock from Basill. I embellished with some grosgrain ribbon, a snowflake button with some silver cord and of course I applied lots of stickles glitter to the image and the snowflakes on the designer paper. It's terrible you can hardly see the sparkles for our sparkling christmas challenge, but I promise, it is very sparkly in real life.

I would like to add this to a couple other challenges:

I hope you find some time to play along at digital tuesday this week. I know most of you are probably done with christmas cards for this year, but you could always use another little gift for someone, or maybe you could make a gift tag, scrapbook page... or you could just work ahead for next christmas.

Hope you all have a fantastic day! Mine will be super busy, as all my tuesdays are!

Ellie.

Animals at christmas time

It's tuesday again and that means another challenge over at digital tuesday!
This week it's my turn to choose the challenge and I want to see

Animals at Christmas time

As always feel free to make anything you like just be sure to include a digistamp somewhere on your creation.

For my card I used a digi from Mo Manning. I LOVE this image, the cat is just soooo cute! This is our first year having cats in the house. Hopefully this won't be a scene at our house this christmas.

It's been colored with copics. The papers are from Stampin up and Bazzil. I've also used a lace doily.
Embellished with some red grosgrain ribbon and some stickles. The flower is a stamp from a Penny Black clear set. I colored it with copics, cut it out and added some gold stickles to the flower center.

I would also like to enter my card to the following challenges:

This week our challenge blog is sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps. Be sure to check them out, lots of cuties to choose from . The winner of this week's challenge gets to choose 5 digis from their store.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! Hope you liked the card and be sure to check back tomorrow for another card for the brand new Penny Black at All Sorts challenge which goes live on December first!

Have a great day,
Ellie.

Let it snow, DTC #86

Happy tuesday everyone! Today our challenge over at digital tuesday was chosen by Anne-Marije, and the theme is

Let it snow.

I love making "snowy" cards. Thanks for the fun challenge Anne-Marije!

Have you gotten any snow yet where you live? We haven't gotten any yet here in the midwest, and yesterday we actually reached 71 degrees (21 celsius). But it was also very windy and still is while I type this.

For my card I used one of my Mo Manning digis. It's been printed out on couture 80lb card stock and then colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and baby oil. I decided to go with an all white card for this challenge. The 3 panels were run through my big kick with a cuttlebug embossing folder. I embellished with some snowflakes, polka dot ribbon and stickles glitter.

The sketch is from this week's cute card thursday challenge. I also wanted to enter it to this week's Mo's challenge blog with the theme of "use 3 punches". I used the snowflake punch, scallop border punch, and circle punch. Then at totally papercrafts the theme is "snow or snowflakes" and this fits perfectly so I am entering it there too.

This week our sponsor is My Grafico and as always the winner of the challenge gets to choose a set from their store, plus will also get 10% off of an order. If you'd like to play along you just need to make a card or other project using a digital stamp and then follow our them of "let it snow".

Before I go I'd like to wish everyone celebrating Thanksgiving Day this week a

Happy Thanksgiving!!

A happy snowman

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend and a great start of the week. We had some beautiful weather again here this weekend and a record high on monday. The kids really enjoyed playing outside. So no complaints here! Just hoping it will last a little longer.

It's time for another challenge over at Digital Tuesday. The lovely Amy is our hostess and she wants us and you to use some of that never used stash that we have in our collection. Thank you for this challenge Amy, as I have been waiting to use this designer paper and the snowman for some time now it just never happened (until now!).

The snowman image is from Sassy Cheryl, I bought it sometime in August I believe but never used it. It's been colored with Derwent Coloursoft Pencils and blended with baby oil.

The Designer paper is from S.E.I ( double sided, "glitzmas collection"), I had picked up a couple of sheets 2 or 3 months ago at a local stamping store and haven't used any of it yet either. These 2 things immediately came to mind when I saw what the challenge was.

The card is kept pretty simple, the sketch is an old one from Mojo Monday. I embellished with just a few punched out snowflakes (Martha Stewart Punch), some grosgrain ribbon and stickles glitter. I also used an old Stampin Up stamp from the set "itty bitty background" around the image. The sentiment is also from Stampin up.

Here's a closeup at the snowman.
Here are some other challenges I am entering this to:
I hope you'll join us in this fun challenge. As usual we have an amazing sponsor, this week Dustin Pike is back offering 3 digis from his store to one lucky winner!

And just a reminder, if you have any winter/christmas Penny Black stamps, I'd love if you join us at the November Penny Black @ All sorts challenge with the theme of "it's beginning to look a lot like christmas". Some amazing prizes up for grabs there!

Have a great day!
Ellie.

DTC #82 - use a non-craft item

Hi everyone and happy tuesday!

We have a super exciting challenge for you this week at Digital Tuesday. Sandy is our hostess and she wanted us to think outside the box this week and

use something in our creations that is not usually used for crafting.

How's that for a challenge! I hope you will all join because I'd love to see everyone's ideas!

I ended up making two cards for this challenge both using different non-craft items.

First I am showing you the card made with a super cute image from our sponsor of this week, Doodle Pantry. It's from the set called Holiday Sheep.

It's been printed on couture 80lb card stock which I got from I heart papers. Then I colored the "skin" with a copic marker. The ornaments were colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil.

For my non-craft-item on this card I thought it would be fun to use some cotton from a cotton ball for the sheep's wool. I applied two-way glue to it and then just stuck bits of a cotton ball to it. I tore most of the cotton ball off just left a thin layer on the sheep. It was really soft and fuzzy. Somehow I couldn't help myself but add stickles to the fur so now it isn't fuzzy and soft anymore :-( but it still does have a nice textured feel to it.

My Designer Papers and colored card stock are from Stampin up. The pretty poinsettia flowers are from a clear stamp set from Penny Black called Christmas Treasures. (Did I mention I was one of the winners of some Penny Black Blog candy that was offered for Word Card Making Day? Not only did I get the beautiful clear stamp set, but 4 additional Rubber Stamps too!! )
I've also used some stampin up ribbon and martha stewart's branch punch. Then sentiment is from stampin up.

Now onto my second card - I actually wanted to use twigs from the garden for this one. But it just didn't work out the way I wanted it to. So while I was drinking my coffee one morning I remembered reading about something being done with coffeefilters.

And that is what I did. The multicolored paper in the background is a coffeefilter.
Here's how I did it:

Step 1: wipe ink pads across a large plastic cutting board (I used old olive, creamy caramel, pumpkin pie)

Step 2: spritz cutting board with some water

Step 3: spread coffee filter out on the cutting board and get it covered with the ink mixture.

Step 4: Lightly crumble up coffee filter to make sure it is covered in colors

Step 5: Flatten out and dry with heating tool. Then cut to shape.

There is a tutorial on how to do it on SCS in the resource section but they used re-inkers on the tutorial. I tried that and the filter came out too dark so I thought I'd try it with just inkpads. I am really happy how it turned out.

After I adhered it to my card front I applied some rub-ons to the paper. Would you believe this was the first time I used rub-ons? (I do think I had something similar to rubons as a child many years ago).
Then I also sponged the edges with some chocolate chip ink.

I've embellished my card with some paper flowers and brads and of course glitter. The sentiment is from our sponsor, Doodle Pantry.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I do hope that you'll join us this week. A fun prize from Doodle Pantry will be up for grabs for one lucky winner!

I also want to remind you that there is still a little time to join in the fun at Penny Black @ All Sorts. The theme is Fall, so if you have any Penny Black stamps be sure to play along. A new challenge will be posted on the first so keep you eyes open for that one too! Several prizes are up for grabs there every month.

Have a great day,
Ellie .
