Penny Black and More Challenge - Midmonth Reminder

Today I am sharing my mid month reminder card for our August theme at Penny Black and More challenge. This month it's all about cards for boys or men. Still plenty of time to join us if you haven't already! As always we have some fantastic prizes go give away so I hope you won't miss your chance to be entered into the drawing. Remember you may use any brand, as long as the focal point of your card is hand stamped.

I've used one of my newer stamp sets by Penny Black - Birthday Critters - along with Penny Black's Wood Floors die and the sentiment is from the Penny Black set Sweet Wishes.

Related Products:

The animals were stamped on Bristol Vellum paper using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine clear embossing powder. I used the distress ink pads for watercoloring by simply pressing the inkpad onto a clear stamping block and then picking up the color with a zig detailer waterbrush. I did wet the image with clean water before adding color so it is easier to work with. Images were fussy cut using Cutterbee detail paper scissors.

I used white card stock for the wooden floor/trim and inked the floor with distress ink. The pattern paper is from a paper pack by The Paper Studio found at Hobby Lobby. I thought this pattern was perfect for a birthday card as they remind me of streamers. Sentiment was cut out and attached to the card with a staple that I tied some navy grosgrain ribbon to. The animals were adhered with pop up tape and the image panel was then framed onto a Faded Jeans distress inked card stock before mounting it onto a white card base.

Allsorts 502: Milestones with Numbers

Good morning, it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Kath's turn this week and she wants to see Milestones with Numbers. Hope you can come join us for a chance to win a great prize!

In this image the little mouse is hanging on a kite, but I thought 3 balloons would be more appropriate for a 3 year old's birthday card, so I used one of the stamps from the Penny Black set Birthday Critters to add balloons to the image, and I simply masked off the kite.

All stamping (image, sentiments and numbers) was heat embossed using Versafine Onyx ink and Clear Embossing Powder. I cut masks out of post it notes to cover all the animals and balloons so I could color/ ink up the background. I used Zig Clean Color  markers for the grass and image, and the sky was inked with Blueprint Sketch distress oxide. Wink of Stella Clear Glitter was added to the balloons to make them sparkle and I added a die cut star (retired die by Whimsy Stamps) to the sentiment.

The sentiments are both from the Penny Black set Sweet Wishes, this set is a few years old, but so perfect for kids birthday cards! The number 3 is a stamp from an old Stampin Up Number set.

I used a Lili of the Valley stamp - Rosie with Cake, it's been colored with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils on Neenah card stock.  The sentiment is Penny Black's Sprinkles and Smiles

A really quick and easy card to make as you can see.  One of Avery Elle's Wonky Stitches dies was used to frame the image panel with. The paper strip is from my box of scraps.

Happy Birthday Allsorts Challenge

Good morning! This week is a special week at Allsorts challenge as we are celebrating 9 years of challenges! We have a lot of wonderful prizes lined up, 9 of them including a store voucher from Craft Obsessions, so hopefully you can join us this week.

Our theme is "Happy Birthday" of course :)

I think this little hedgehog is ready for the party with his party hat and party horn. The image is a stickeroo from Penny Black, perfect for a quick card. Of course in my case I decided to fussy cut the image which I stuck to white card stock first.

The top striped border was done using a stencil by Echo Park - Fashionista Collection: Glamour Stripes and Black Soot Distress ink. The patterned paper is from my box of scraps and the sentiment is from Tim Holtz' Quotations sticker set. White card stock is Neenah Linen textured 80lb. My old stampin up paper piercing tool kit was used to paper pierce. I finished off the card by tying some May Arts Burlap Twine  around the card.

I followed the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge :

The image is from the Penny Black set Loads of Love, it's a 'new to me' set, and I also have it available brand new in my Etsy shop if you're interested, along with the sentiment I used here (Sweet Wishes) and the stencil. I heat embossed the image on Bristol Vellum paper then colored with my Zig Clean Color markers and my Zig Detailer waterbrush. After coloring I stencilled the design using light gray ink and then stamped the "happy birthday" from the set Snippets several times. The truck in the image is filled with lots of little hearts, but I decided I wanted flowers so I placed little prima flowers all over. The flourish die I used behind the flowers is from Whimsy Stamps (retired). I finished off the card with some jute twine and sticky pearls.

Zig colors used: deep green, yellow, pale pink, flesh color, light pink, green-gray, gray. These colors are all available in the set of 36 I linked below, they can also be purchased as single colors from  Blick Art Materials or Scrapbook.com.

Allsorts 457 and Papercrafters' Linky Party 5

Good morning and happy Saturday!
It's time again for the new Allsorts challenge, Mervi is hosting this week with the theme of "Ladies Only" in celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th. We have two wonderful prizes lined up for Allsorts challenge this week, so hopefully you can come join us! This week we are being sponsored by DigiStamp Boutique who are offering a wonderful prize, plus we're also having a clear stamp set to give away.

Don't forget it's also time for a new Papercrafters' Linky Party. As always anything papercraft goes and I can't wait to see what you've been making. The linky and last week's top pick is at the end of this post.

I love Penny Black's fashionista stamp line, they are so much fun to color and I love the art style. This image is part of the set Patisserie by Penny Black. The sentiment is from the set Sprinkles and Smiles. My Tonic stamp platform was used for stamping which ensures I get a solid impression.

I heat embossed the image on Bristol Vellum Card using Versafine Onyx ink and clear embossing powder. I've also embossed the sentiment. I inked the edges using antique linen Distress Ink, used a script stamp on the background (old by Stampin Up), a Flourish stencil from Stampers Anonymous as used to add some interest to the background.  Coloring was done with Kuretake Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and a Zig Detailer Waterbrush.

I layered the image panel onto black printed designer paper, distressed some more, then layered onto another patterned paper. The card base is kraft card stock by Stampin Up. To finish off the card I added a sentiment sticker from Tim Holtz's Quotations Metallic Stickers set and finished off with a button and twine.

I am following these challenge themes:
4 Crafty Chicks - Just Add A Sentiment
Pause Dream Enjoy - Use a Stamped Image
As You Like It Challenge -  Single or Multiple Layers (&why) - multiple, I like the way it makes the image stand out more when another layers is placed behind the image panel.

Penny Black and More - July Challenge

This week at Penny Black and More challenge we'd like to see you create something "For the Boys". This is always a little bit challenging for me, but I finally decided to go with a frog stickeroo.

A really simple card to make, I placed the stickeroo onto Neenah Solar Crest card stock,  used a circle die to cut it out and then adhered onto the chevron designer paper. Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps retired set "Boy Talk". I decided to add some jute twine and tie a few knots around it and finished off with candy dots in matching colors. Super simple card and I think it's perfect for a boys birthday card.

And that would be it for today, hope you have a fantastic Sunday and if you're up for a challenge why not join us at Penny Black and More. As usual we have some great prizes to give away. You do not have to use a Penny Black stamp unless you'd like to be chosen as a future guest designer.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Allsorts 420 - Birthday Boy

Saturday again and I am back with a card for the new Allsorts challenge. Wendy is our hostess this week and she chose the theme of "Birthday Boy". I decided to use one of my Penny Black animal stamps and used traditional boy colors for coloring.
The image has been heat embossed on Winsor and Newton Watercolor marker paper and colored using Zig Clean Color Brush pens. Still loving these markers very much, not sure how I managed to color before I had them, but my copics and pencils are sitting mostly unused on the shelve now.

The image is large and just about fills the whole card front, so I kept the card simple by just adding some torn blue paper and the stamped sentiment. A few candy dots were added for a little fun factor. They remind me of confetti. Paper piercing was done next to the sentiment before adhering the card to the base.

Wendy has a  fun stamp set to give away this week, hope you come join us for a chance to win!

I'd also like to enter my card here:

Cupcakes, Cakes and Sweet Treats for Allsorts 408

Hello! It's time already for a new challenge at Allsorts. It's Tracy's turn to host this week, and she chose the theme of Cupcakes, Cakes and Sweet Treats. Another fun theme and we have two great prizes to give away too!

I thought this cute image from Cuddly Buddly would be perfect for this occasion.

It's been colored using Faber Castell polychromos pencils on Neenah Solar Crest card stock and I used baby oil for blending. Designer paper is from Stampin Up (retired) and sentiments are both from Penny Black. Some machine sewing and jute twine finishes off the card.

Below is a closeup of the cute image!
The card is available in my Etsy shop if you're interested.

And finally here are the great prizes up for grabs this week...

I hope you'll decide to come play along with us at Allsorts for a chance to win!

Wishing you all a nice and hopefully sunny spring weekend!

Penny Black and More - Midmonth Inspiration

Happy Tuesday! It's time for a little more inspiration at Penny Black and More, the design team has been busy creating some more gorgeous cards following the October color challenge or photo inspiration, it's up to you how you interpret this challenge.

I went with the colors once again, love the rich tones of fall. I used several distress markers to ink up the stamp - Bejeweled by Penny Black, lightly spritzed with water and then stamped onto bristol vellum card stock. For the linen background I used an old background stamp by Stampin Up, and the script background stamp I used is also from Stampin Up. I was able to use just portions of the stamp by unmounting it and bending it while stamping.
The sentiment is from the Set Patisserie, another one of Penny Black's stamps. I thought the fall colors would go well with distressed edges, so that is what I decided to do here and then I also used my sewing machine for some stitches around the image panel. Oh, and I also inked the edges using yellow, orange and red distress inks before distressing. Designer paper is from an old double sides set of papers by Stampin Up.

Above is a picture of the inside. I used the same flower again, didn't even have to re-ink, because I wanted it to be paler shade. I just huffed on it a little to re-activate the ink and was able to stamp part of the flowers in each corner. Sentiment on the inside is from the set Sprinkles and Smiles by Penny Black. I used the linen background stamp again and inked the edges to match the outside.

This card is listed in my Etsy shop if you're interested.

We'd love for you to come join us, and you can enter up to 3 times for more chances to win. We welcome any brand of rubber or clear stamps, just no digi stamps.

I am also playing along again in the new "Flower Challenge", this month the theme is anything goes, as long as flowers are the focal point.

We would love you to display our banner !

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Birthday Buddy

Good morning and happy Sunday! Time already for the mid-month reminder at Penny Black and More, if you haven't played along yet, there is still time to join us for a chance at one of the wonderful prizes. And don't forget you can join up to 3 times for more chances to win. Our theme this month is Add a Sentiment.

For today I played again with the set "Buddy and Duck", such a cute set for all kinds of kids cards or baby cards. This time I made a boy themed card.

The puppy was stamped onto xpress it blending card and colored with copic markers. I fussy cut the image. The balloon was stamped and colored a second time so I could add it to the card with dimesionals. Papers are from packs I picked up earlier this year at Hobby Lobby - sorry I don't remember the brands. Embellished with a button and twine and added a couple die cut stars (whimsy stamps die) and a die cut cloud (memory box die). A Martha Stewart grass die was used for the grass. Sentiment is part of the cute set by Penny Black. A white Pitt marker by Faber Castell was used to add some white to the dots on the balloon, and I finished off the card by adding sparkles  using some wink of stella on the stars and balloon.

Both the card and Penny Black stamp set (brand new) are listed in my Etsy shop if you are interested.

And that would be all for today, hope you're having a wonderful sunny day, still summery warm over here but I have noticed some trees turn color already. Not much longer until Fall is officially here.
