Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - December Challenge

Hello and Welcome to the December Crafty Wednesday Challenge here on my blog. It's time for a new theme and hope many of you will join in this time. There were some gorgeous entries last month, be sure to scroll down to see if you are the winner or one of the Top Picks!

This Month's Theme:

Snowflakes, Snowmen or a Winter Wonderland

So pretty much anything with Snow, and I can't wait to see what you come up with this time.

This was a really quick card to make. I simply heat embossed the snowman and sentiment both from the Penny Black Set  Let It Snow using Versafine Onyx ink and Clear Embossing Powder. Added a little bit of color with a Zig Clean Color marker (light blue, available in this set of 4) and a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush was used for some sparkles on the snowman (this is really hard to see). I stamped 3 snowflakes which is part of the set and added sticky back rhinestones to each of the snowflake's centers. Designer paper is from my stash, I think it's by Authentique. Silk Ribbon and a bow finish off this card.

Hero Arts My Monthly Hero - December Kit

Happy Monday!

I have no new card to share today, but today is the release of the Hero Arts December My Monthly Hero Kit. Last month the kit has sold out within a day of release (I know, that's crazy!!) and so I decided to post a quick note about the release in case some of my blog readers are interested in purchasing it before it becomes unavailable.

Take a look at this beautiful kit!

Click HERE to get your kit, and don't forget orders totalling up at least $50 will get FREE SHIPPING (USA Only). Some really wonderful add-ons have been released as well! Hero Arts does ship internationally too, but shipping cost does apply.

As some of you know, I am a Kit Subcriber, meaning my kit will automatically be sent to me at release time withouth having to order it, and with the subscription I get free shipping too (even when I just get the kit at $34.99). I love the subscription service, but just so you know, if you subscribe now, your subscription would start with the January kit, and not with the current kit. So if this December  kit is a kit you really want to get, you will have to purchase it through the regular ordering in the shop.

Happy Stamping!!

Please note, affiliate links have been used. This means I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through my links, at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for your support!
Also, I do not design for Hero Arts, all products featured on my blog are purchased at full prize (unless noted otherwise) and all opinions are my own.

Penny Black and More - December Challenge

Well, the first Sunday of December has arrived and that means our last challenge of 2018 for Penny Black and More is here. This month we would like to see

"Traditional Christmas Colors".

This means we want to see Reds, Greens, Golds, Silver and White - a comination of any of these colors!

I decided to use the stamp Winter Pine, a favorite one but I haven't used it in a while. I thought it was the perfect stamp for traditional colors. I picked the distress marker Fired Brick for the bow and berries, and Zig markers deep green for the leaves, bright yellow and mustard (these two were mixed to create a golden tone) for the pine cones. My Stamp Platform was used for stamping both the sentiment and image using Versafine Onyx and I sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder to heat emboss. On the background I used the Penny Black background stamp Christmas Story and Antique Linen ink, but unfortunately the words don't show up well in the photo. They are much more visible in real life.

To add some sparkle to the image I went over the whole image using Hero Arts Irridescent watercolor medium that came with the My Monthly Hero October kit (still available here). The glitter is barely visible in the photo above, although very shimmery in real life, but the photo below shows too much shine, it's not really this much in real life, just the right amount of sparkle.

Not sure if you can tell, but I used the Penny Black background stamp Christmas Story to add some seasonal words to the background, using Antique Linen distress ink. Before adhering the layers to the card base, I used a distressing tool to distress the edges. A handy tool, but if you are careful you can also do this with scissors. The striped designer paper is from one of Stampin Up's retired Christmas paper packs.

We have some great prizes this month again at Penny Black and More, and we would love for you to come join us! Remember, you may use any brand of stamps, just no digi stamps, and stamping must be the focal point of your creation. The only exception are Penny Black Stickeroos, but no digis and no dies as a focal point.

Allsorts 496: Fairies, Fantasy and Magical

Hello and Welcome! Happy December :-)

It's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and this week Brenda selected the theme of Fairies, Fantasy and Magical. We would love for you to come join us for a chance to win a super cute stamp!

So for today I decided to use a gorgeous PSX mermaid stamp, as most of you know, PSX is no longer in business, so this stamp is no longer available. This one by Hero Arts is similar.

I started out by heat embossing with Versafine Onyx ink and  Clear Embossing Powder, then colored with Zig Clean Color Markers. Next I used a light blue zig marker to add some color over the background, I used lots of water mixed with the color to make it very light. A pencil top eraser was used to create the "Bokeh" background, by simply inking up the eraser and stamping on the paper. I used one inked eraser twice before re-inking again, to get two different shades of blue. This was done with tumbled glass distress ink.

The pretty sentiment is one of Penny Black's wood mounted sentiments unfortunately I can't find a link to it anywhere (it's an older one and retired), also heat embossed. I decided to add the Penny Black Hearts (I have one die available for sale in my "For Sale" tab. Some diluted Zig Clean Color marker in Light Carmine (this color is available in this set of 4 markers) was added to the hearts to coordinate with the color of the star fish. Pearls and some Irridescent watercolor medium (which was part of the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero October kit) finishes off the card.

There is another way to do the bokeh technique, using different sizes of circle stencils and inking them with white craft ink. It was actually the technique I wanted to do, but then came across this one and thought I'd give it a try.
