Saturday again and that means it's time for a new Allsorts challenge as well as a  new Linky Party for all papercrafts here on my blog. You can find the linky at the end of this post along with last week's top pick. As always you may link up "Anything Papercrafts" to Papercrafters' Linky Party. (If you're confused about "Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday" I linked to at the top, it's a new challenge I just started (with a monthly prize). That's in addition to my linky party and it will have a monthly theme.

Now onto Allsorts challenge, this week it's my turn to host and I selected the theme of Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes. This might sound harder than it actually is...you don't have to use a fairy tale or nursery rhyme specific stamp, I just want you to use a character or thing from a story to inspire your card, example the little mermaid would inspire you to use a mermaid stamp, or the tale of Peter Rabbit could inspire you to use your favorite bunny stamps. How about creating a floral card inspired by "ring around the roses?" Lots of options I think. Be sure to visit the Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the team has created for this week.

Can you guess which fairy tale it's been inspired by? If you guessed Bambi then you guessed correctly. But I don't blame you if you didn't know, because Bambi is actually a male deer and my card it girly.  I am sure everyone is familiar with Bambi from the Disney movie, but did you know "Bambi, a life in the woods" was first published as a fairy tale book in the 1920's?  I am sure this story was part of my fairy tale book I had growing up.

I heat embossed the image from Penny Black's Mimi's Love Stamp Set on Bristol Vellum paper then watercolored with my Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers. Using a circle nestablities die I cut out the image and matted onto a scallop circle. The designer paper is from a 6x6 paper pack by Prima Marketing. Unfortunately I am not sure which pack it came from....The little strip of yellow/green paper is from Stampin up, but long retired. I thought the sentiment I used was perfect for the sweet image, it's from the Penny Black set Sprinkles and Smiles. The flowers were done using the new die set Frames by Penny Black (available in my Etsy shop), the sticky dots were a gift, and I finished off with some natural Burlap Twine. Colored card stocks are by Stampin Up. 

If you look really closely then you can see I used a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush on the little butterfly and flowers on the image.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - March Challenge

Hello and welcome to Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday! I'm so excited to add this fun feature to my blog! This will be a monthly challenge, posted the first Wednesday of each month right here on my blog! I will try to have a little prize every month for you to win. This month's prize is listed at the bottom of this post. 

A little bit about the challenges:

A new theme will post the first Wednesday of each month.
(There will be no "anything goes" themes)
Combine with any other challenges.
3 entries per person please, and
most of all, have fun!!

Although this blog is mainly about papercrafting, feel free to create and share other crafts as well, just be sure to follow the monthly theme. 

The theme for March is...................

All Creatures Great and Small

this means anything from insects, to our 4 legged friends, woodland creatures to birds and sea life, don't forget about those magical creatures that live a hidden life in our gardens and forests...

This should be an easy one, and I can't wait to see your creations.

For my card today I used a cute stamp from the set Garden Critters by Penny Black.

The bunny has been heat embossed on Bristol Vellum paper and then watercolored with my Zig Clean Color brush pens before fussy cutting. Sentiment is an older wood mounted stamp also by Penny Black and I used Penny Black's newest Frames Die set from the Sweet Spring release. If you're interested in this die set, I currently have it available in my Etsy shop along with some other newly released stamps. 

The white card stock is Neenah Classic LINEN textured card stock (80lb weight), and my card base is Stampin Up's Crumb Cake card stock. I used a corner rounder on the bottom parts of the card. The little coral flower is from the same Frames Die set and I used a "candy dot" from Stampin Up in the flower center. Some Burlap string finishes off the card. A little bit of Wink of Stella glitter has also been added but as usual it doesn't show up well in photos.

Happy Sunday! Hope your weekend has been going well! It's been another sunny (but a bit chilly) one over here, which is to be expected this time of the year, I guess, and I'm looking forward to some warmer sunny days!

  It's the first Sunday of the month, and that means it's time for a new challenge theme at Penny Black and More, this month our theme is Feature a Creature. One of my favorite themes, if you've been following my blog for a while, then you will know that creature and critter cards are my favorites!

So do come join us for a chance to win! Remember, you don't have to use Penny Black stamps to play along, any stamp company is fine but no digi stamps. 

For today's card I made a "Get Well" card. The stamp is called "Easter Carrots" but I feel like it's more suitable for a get well card than an Easter card. I think this stamp might have been retired, if you're interested in buying it, you might find it on ebay or maybe etsy. Otherwise this set includes a similar stamp. I stamped and heat embossed the image on Bristol Vellum Card Stock and I used my Zig Clean Color real brush pens for coloring. I fussy cut the image. Usually I cut super close to the image but this time I thought I'd leave a little bit of a white edge. Not sure which way I like it more ...  The green striped paper is from Stampin Up (old) and the print paper is from a 6x6 paper pack by Prima Marketing. A stack I had for a while so I don't know which set it came from. 

The sentiment is from the clear set Snippets by Penny Black. I framed the card using bashful blue card stock. Butterflies were done using an older Martha Stewart punch and sticky pearls were added to the centers. I finished off the card by adding some natural jute twine and adhered to a Neenah linen solar white card base. The complete card measures 4.75 x 4.75 inches.

Allsorts 457 and Papercrafters' Linky Party 5

Good morning and happy Saturday!
It's time again for the new Allsorts challenge, Mervi is hosting this week with the theme of "Ladies Only" in celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th. I love Penny Black's fashionista stamp line, they are so much fun to color and I love the art style. This image is part of the set Patisserie by Penny Black. The sentiment is from the set Sprinkles and Smiles. My Tonic stamp platform was used for stamping which ensures I get a solid impression. 

I heat embossed the image on Bristol Vellum Card using Versafine Onyx ink and clear embossing powder. I've also embossed the sentiment. I inked the edges using antique linen Distress Ink, used a script stamp on the background (old by Stampin Up), a Flourish stencil from Stampers Anonymous as used to add some interest to the background.  Coloring was done with Kuretake Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and a Zig Detailer Waterbrush.

I layered the image panel onto black printed designer paper, distressed some more, then layered onto another patterned paper. The card base is kraft card stock by Stampin Up. To finish off the card I added a sentiment sticker from Tim Holtz's Quotations Metallic Stickers set and finished off with a button and twine.
