Allsorts Challenge 548: Christmas Gifts

This post includes some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, at no cost to you! Thank you so much for your support!

Hello and thank you so much for visiting! It's Saturday, that means we have a new theme for you at Allsorts challenge and this week Wendy chose the theme of "Christmas Gifts". This is a great opportunity to create or finish those handmade gifts, there is a lot of wonderful inspiration from the rest of the team on the challenge blog.

I took the easier way and made a card featuring Christmas gifts. I actually wanted to make a set of coasters, but with the Thanksgiving holiday and hubby and kids both at home for all/most part of the week I did not attempt to start that project.

I made a CAS card, stamped and heat embossed the Penny Black image Dashing Through The Snow on Winsor & Newton watercolor paper, then colored with Distress Inks to match the strip of pattern paper from my stash.

I embellished with sparkly silver trim from the Target dollar spot (it's from a few years ago) and die cut snowflakes. The exact die set was a prize I won from Dare 2 B Artzy, but it appears to be retired. I'm sure most of you have snowflake dies or punches, if not, there are several options available HERE. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Holly Jolly .

Below is a close up. As you can see I used a Christmas words stamp randomly on the background. This large background stamp is Penny Black's Christmas Story

Allsorts Challenge 547: Thank You/New Year

Good morning and happy Saturday! We have a new challenge for you at the Allsorts challenge blog. Our lovely Tracy is hosting this week and she picked the themes of Thank you or New Year. If you are a (paper)crafter then we'd love for you to join us with a new creation following this theme! The challenge runs for a week and this week you can win a beautiful stamp set from Craft Stash.

This cute card was made with a Penny Black hedgie stamp from the set Sweet You. It's been stamped and heat embossed using my usual Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and Clear Embossing Powder. After coloring using diluted Distress inks (from the regular pads, not the Oxides) and a Zig detailer brush, I fussy cut the image with my Cutterbee scissors. The sentiment is from the Penny Black set Grateful, also heat embossed.

The white background paper was done using a houndstooth cuttlebug embossing folder and my Big Shot machine and the pretty polka dotted paper is an oldie from Stampin Up. For my card base I used heavy weight 110 lb card stock from Michaels.

Caroling Trio for Penny Black and More Midmonth Creation

This post includes affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, at no cost to you! Thank you so much for your support!

Hello and thanks so much for stopping by! It's time already for our midmonth share at the Penny Black and More challenge blog. Our theme this month is "Christmas" and you still have plenty of time to join us with a Christmas make for a chance to win one of our great prizes. And remember you can enter up to times for more chances to win!

For today's card I decided to get out the cute stamp Caroling Trio by Penny Black. I stamped and heat embossed it on Bristol Vellum paper Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and clear embossing powder. I stamped it again on a post it note and cut it out to use as a mask on my card front. I also added a mask (out of torn printer paper) for a snow drift. Next I flicked some masking fluid onto the background using an old kids crayola paint brush, went to eat lunch and when I got back the masking fluid was dry so I could ink  up the background. I used Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks starting with the lightest color.

Next I removed the masks and colored the image with Distress inks (Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Spun Sugar, Wild Honey) and a Zig Detailer waterbrush. Using a clean paper towel I rubbed off the dried masking fluid to reveal the snowflakes. The sentiment from the Penny Black set Season's Gifts (my favorite Christmas sentiment set) was heat embossed using the same Versafine ink and embossing powder. My card base is heavyweight white card stock from Michael's.

Allsorts challenge 545: White on White

This post includes some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, at no cost to you! Thank you so much for your support!

It's Saturday again, that means it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. Brenda is hosting this week and she picked the theme of "white on white". This one was definitely challenging to me, in fact I threw one card I was working on out (that hasn't happened to me in a loooooong time) and another one is sitting on the desk that was a reject as well ... it looked too "busy" to me so I made this one instead.

The dotted background paper was done with an old cuttlebug embossing folder. This one looks very similar but I'm not sure if it's the same. Everything else was die cut using Penny Black dies and my Big Shot machine (as I type this the  Big Shot Starter Kit it is marked to less than $80 which is a great deal if you're looking for a manual die cutting machine, but Amazon prices do tend to fluctuate so if you are interested, be sure to check the price), then adhered to the card using Scor TapePop Up Glue Dots (for the deer) and a Sakura  Quickie Glue Pen to adhere the words.

Related Products:

The beautiful sentiment die set was a gift from dear Brenda (thank you Brenda!) I left too much space between the words (to make it work because of the deer) so I added a stickyback pearl. A snowflake might have been more appropriate but the size I had didn't fit into the space. No glitter because the "rejected" card sitting on my desk I covered in glitter and that was part of why I didn't like it so I kept it simple with only the pearl as an embellishment.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - November Challenge

This post includes some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, at no cost to you! Thank you so much for your support!

Hello and welcome to the November Crafty Wednesday challenge right here on my blog! I'm so glad you decided to check out this month's theme and hopefully you'll join in! There were some beauties entered last month using traditional stamps, be sure to scroll down to the end of this post to see if you were the lucky prize winner or maybe one of the lucky top picks!

This Month's Theme

We're getting closer to the busy holiday season so this month I picked the theme of:

Christmas/Holidays

An easy theme and can include all your holiday makes - cards, gift tags, altered bags and boxes, handmade gifts etc.

I decided to make a Victorian themed Christmas card with a retired PSX stamp (G1879) I purchased from ebay a few years ago. Unfortunately there is currenly only 1 of these stamps listed on ebay USA. I did also find one listing on ebay UK at a better price. But you might be lucky if you simply search PSX Christmas stamps.

My card was pretty easy to make. I started out using a circle die cut as a guide and I stamped the snowflake repeatedly around part of the circle using Faded Jeans distress ink. Next I heat embossed the Carolers stamp  using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and Clear Embossing powder. I colored with Faded Jeans, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose and Black Soot Distress inks using a Zig Detailer brush. As you may notice I inked an impression of snow on the ground using a torn printer paper mask and Pumice Stone distress ink. The music notes were done with another retired stamp. This stamp is similar. The Christmas sentiment is from the Penny Black set Season's Gifts stamped and heat embossed with Versafine Clair ink. Using a blending tool I inked up the edges using Faded Jeans ink again then distressed with scissors.

PSX G1879 - Carolers  or search PSX Christmas Stamps  (UK listing for exact stamp) // Penny Black Season's Gifts // Similar Music Notes Background Stamp //  Faded Jeans Distress Ink // Vintage Photo Distress Ink // Tattered Rose Distress Ink // Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink // Black Soot Distress Ink // Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink // Zig Detailer Brush // Ranger Ink Blending Tool // Clear Embossing Powder // Heating Tool // Bristol Vellum Paper //  Heavyweight 110lb Cardstock
