Allsorts Challenge 493: Poppies or the Color Red

Hello and thanks so much for stopping by today! It's Saturday so that means it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and Kath is our host this week with the theme of Poppies or the Color Red. I have several poppy stamps but for today I inked up my newest (I think these are poppies) from this year's Penny Black spring release for the first time! I almost forgot I had this stamp!

Penny Black Spontaneous Joy // Penny Black Diamond Border Die // Distress Markers // Distress Ink Tea Dye // Tonic Stamp Platform // My Favorite Things Label Sentiments retired - Similar Option  // Stampin Up French Script - Retired

To make this card I used Distress Markers  to color directly onto the stamp Spontaneous Joy by Penny Black and lightly spritzed with water before stamping. The words on the background were done with an old retired stamp by Stampin Up (french script) and Tea Dye ink. The label sentiments are from a retired My Favorite Things set. I couldn't find it online anywhere anymore, but found this Altenew set to be similar.
I thought the card needed something black on the bottom as well, so I used Penny Black's Diamond Border Die to add the border using both parts of the die. Before adhering my card to a white base, I ran a green ink pad along the edges of the card front to give it a little bit of a frame.

Here is what you can win this week, hope you can join us for a chance to win!

You may combine this with any other challenges and use any craft company you like :-)

I am sharing two cards today...

First up a CAS card using Penny Black's stamp Snowy Perch. With the help of my Stamp Platform I stamped the image using  Memento Tuxedo Ink  on Xpress It blending card. I stamped the image a second time so I could cut out the bird using a circle die. A few Copic markers were used to add a little bit of color to the bird. The little sentiments are from Penny Black's set Holiday Snippets. Mounted onto a Stampin Up green card base and finished off with some ribbon from my stash.

Hero Arts October MMH Kit // Zig Clean Color Markers // Zig Detailer Brush // Bristol Vellum Paper // Versamark Ink // Versafine Onyx Ink // Gold Embossing Powder // Clear Embossing Powder

For my second card I used the Hero Arts October My Monthly Hero Kit. This kit can currently still be purchased, and in case you are interested, Hero Arts just released their November kit and those will begin shipping on Friday. (ETA: It looks like the November kit is all sold out already, so unless you are a kit subscriber, you won't be able to get the November kit any longer. You can subscribe to futre kits HERE.)  All stamps I used are part of the kit, the matching die was used to cut out the cute animals. Don't you just love the look that cat's face ... he looks like he's thinking "oh what fun" in a sarcastic way, while the other two are enjoying the moment :-)

I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder and used the irredescent watercolor medium that's included in the  October MMH Kit to add sparkles along the white edge of the image panel. The photo only shows the top part of the sparkles, but it's been added all along the white edges. More of this glitter on the ornaments and the tree itself. I'm not a pro when it comes to matching dies, so I didn't line the animals die up correctly and got too much white showing on the left side. I usually just fussy cut, but really like having a matching die for some stamps.

Here is a photo of the complete October kit which is currently still in stock - if you'd like to purchase this kit simply click the image to be redirected to the shop.

Penny Black and More - November Challenge

Today I am sharing my card for the November Penny Black and More challenge, where our theme this month  is "Make Someone Smile". This doesn't have to be a humouros card, any uplifting and cheerful card will be perfect for this challenge.

I started out by heat embossing the image from the Penny Black set  Holly Jolly on Bristol Vellum paper then colored with my Zig Clean Color Markers. The mouse on the right side is a separate image from the set, it's also been heat embossed on a different paper, colored and fussy cut, then attached to the card with dimensional tape. I brushed some Wink of Stella glitter over parts of the image to make it sparkle. I wanted to add some ink to the background so I stamped the image on a sticky note and cut it out - this didn't take long as I didn't need it to be perfect. Placed the sticky masks over my image and then I was able to ink and add the stencil designs. I used one of the patterns from Penny Black's Oscillations stencil on the carpet part of the image and Echo Park's Stripes Stencil for a wall design. The sentiments from the sets Season's Gifts and Holiday Snippets were  stamped directly onto the card front. The card base is Neenah Linen textured 80lb card stock.

A close up below...

Allsorts 492: Pretty Papers

It's saturday again and time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge. This week our theme is: Pretty Papers and we have a great prize to give away to one lucky winner! We're giving away a pretty prize package with some designer paper packs and gorgoeus ribbon, so hope you can join in for a chance to win!

I decided to make two cards today....
Whimsy Stamps Designer Paper - Retired // Stampin Up Feathered Hope - retired

The only stamping I have done here is the sentiment and the hanging vines stamped in green. The gorgeous hummingbird image is part of the pattern paper. Unfortunately I can't link to this paper anymore as it's an older pack from Whimsy Stamps and no longer available. I love hummingbirds, this year I've had many more coming to my feeder than I did the previous years, and I plan on putting a couple of extra ones out next spring to attract even more of them.
I also used a really old sentiment on this card, it's a favorite one  from Stampin Up from the stamp set "Feathered Hope", only available on ebay or etsy, or maybe a local yard sale. The vines stamp is from Penny Black's set "Sprigs".  I embellished with a pink button and some jute twine.

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Take Flight
Crafting With An Attitude Always Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
Watercooler Wednesday Challenges  - Anything Goes
Crafting from the Heart -  Anything Goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Anything Goes
The Corrosive Challenges -  Anything Goes

For my next card I picked some sepia colored designer paper from the Prima Marketing pack called "something blue".  The image from the Penny Black set All Abloom was heat embossed on Bristol Vellum and I used a Zig Clean Color marker (mid-gray) for coloring the image. On the background I used an old Stampin Up script stamp (french script) and a harlequin stamp from another old set (looks like spring). The sentiment and butterfly are part of the Penny Black set ... The postmark and seal stamp are from the Penny Black set Posted with Love.
I inked up the edges with Antique Linen distress ink, ran some scissors over the edge to add some distressing and I also did this with the designer paper. Added some jute twine before adhering the image panel.

Challenges:
Addicted to Stamps and More  - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations  -  Anything Goes
Simon Says Wednesday - Anything Goes
Lemon Shortbread  - Always Anything Goes
Use Your Stuff -  Free Week

And that is all for today, hope to see you joining us at Allsorts this week!
