A Hedgie Christmas in July

This week Pauline is hosting at Allsorts challenge and she chose the theme of "Christmas in July", a perfect time for all types of crafters to begin their Christmas crafts! So here is my first Christmas card of the year:

I used a Penny Black hedgie from the set Holly Jolly which is older but oh so cute!! Colored with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and I used a circle Nestabilities die to cut it out, cropping off part of the circle.

Busy times so I kept the card CAS by simply using a favorite stencil - Penny Black Hypnotic - on the background with Twisted Lime and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks. I added some snowy frantage type loose flakes (similar option) for some faux snow. It's white/irridescent, not really pink although it appears there is some pink in it on the photo. 

The sentiment is also by Penny Black from the set Festive Cheer, stamped directly onto the stenciled background using Versafine Onyx ink.

All Sorts of Animals at Allsorts Challenge

Hello and welcome! 

It's time for a new theme already at Allsorts, Lolo chose the theme of "All Sorts of Animals" for this week, so any domestic, wild, safari animals, even birds or bugs but no mythical creatures please for this challenge. We have two fantastic prizes to give away this week too, the AAll and Create "Love Birds" stamp set and a Bee Crafty Safari animals stamp set. Hope you'll join us for your chance to win!

I recently purchased my first bag of cherries this summer and that inspired me to ink up this cute image from the Penny Black clear set Micey Day which is hard to find but it appears that the exact stamp is also part of their clear set Homemade. 

Stamped with Versafine Onyx on Bristol Vellum and colored with Zig Clean Color and Distress inks. I used a white Posca pen to add white details on the bowl. Then fussy cut. I adhered the image on a scalloped circle die cut. 

I used this month's Four Season's Challenge mood board as inspiration when I started coloring the image and ended up getting several other ideas from the mood boards for my design, including the stripes (I used Altenew's Classy Stripes stencil) and the black printed paper which reminds me of the chalkboard on the first image on the mood board (see below).  

I added a sticky quote from one of Tim Holtz's quotations sets and decided to add some natural jute twine to finish it off.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - July Challenge

Hello and welcome to Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - July 2022 right here on my blog! I'm so glad you decided to stop by today, hope you will link up your new or recently made creation too! Here is what I made:

I started out my masking around the edges using painter's tape. Was going to use an ink blending brush to ink up inside the rectangle but then instead I decided to use an ink block to smoosh the colors onto the paper instead. I used Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. When the ink was dry I removed the tape and stamped Penny Black's Dainty Whispers image using Versafine Onyx ink. I paper pierced along the inked edges.

Sentiment is an oldie from a retired Flourishes set (as you probably know the company is no longer in business) I purchased it on eBay a year or two ago. A Sakura stardust glitter pen was used on the flowers/seeds and I added a few sticky rhinestones before adhering to the card base.

Water Lilies and Dragonflies

Hello and happy July! Time really does fly!! 

I'm here to share my newest card made for Allsorts challenge. It's my turn to host and I chose the easy theme of "Flora and/or Fauna" with an even easier option of Anything Goes and I'd love for you to join in the fun :) Two fabulous prizes are up for grabs, a die set from  Highlight Crafts and a floral stencil. The challenge is open for one week and all are welcome to join with a new creation and up to three for more chances to win!

Here is what I made using both "Flora and Fauna" on my card - Water Lilies (or are they Lotus blossoms?) and Dragonflies. 

I've had this beautiful digi since I first discovered Power Poppy back in 2020, can't believe this is my first time ever using it! Isn't it gorgeous!! 

I printed on Bristol Vellum paper and colored with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I used the layered blending technique and it it took quite some time to layer up all the different colors.

I had printed the image out twice so I was able to fussy cut one of the flowers and a dragonfly to add a little dimension to the card. 

The sentiment is from a newer Penny Black sentiment set Love Big, thought this one was a perfect match for the beautiful image. The script border was done using an oldie but goodie stamp from Whimsy Stamps and no longer available. After stamping I tore the top edge for an added interest. Some paper piercing along two of the edges and then I mounted it onto SU Eggplant card stock (which appears black on the pictures but is dark purple in real life). A few sticky rhinestones and Stickles glitter finish off the card.
