Magical Worlds At Allsorts Challenge

Hello and welcome! It's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge where Tracy it hosting this week. She chose the theme of "Magical Worlds", one of my favorites for sure and a perfect chance to get out some of my new Lavinia stamps. Not that I need an excuse but even though I've been making several cards with them I still struggle with creating scenes for the beautiful fairies and don't use them as much as I should.

Please note, this post does include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, as always this is at no cost to you. Thanks so much for your support.

We do have a prize this week, a beautiful Lavinia fairy stamp from the Allsorts box of prizes that Brenda will send as soon as she can get to the post office. Hope you can join us for your chance to win!

This quarantine life hasn't only gotten me to subscribe to a Misfits Market produce delivery service and and a subscription to  Mrs. Meyers cleaning supplies, but I've also decided to order a few new Lavinia stamps last month.

So for this card my inspiration came from the sentiment and I chose mostly green inks and dancing fairies. I've used Lavinia's Fairy Chain stamp before but all other stamps are new to me and they are all by Lavinia (Celetial Tree, Lunar Buds, Forest So Green and Moon.)My card base is my usual Bristol Vellum

I started out by adding a circle to mask the moon, then used Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks/oxides. A hand cut mask was used to mimic some hills in this magical forest of  "Lunar Buds".

After my background was inked, I stamped the moon inside the masked circle and the lunar buds using Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink and then stamped the Celestial Tree, the Fairy Chain and sentiment using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. Before mounting onto the white card base, I ran the Chipped Sapphire inkpad along the edge, dabbed off the excess ink with a paper because somehow it always ends up smearing on my white card stock if I skip this step.

Dots, Stripes and/or Gingham for Allsorts Challenge

I am back today with my card for our new theme at Allsorts challenge. Mervi is hosting this week and she chose theme of "Gingham, Stripes or Dots". Some of my favorite patterns and they are always a nice addition on cards. Hope you can join us this week!

Please note, this post does include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, as always this is at no cost to you. Thanks so much for your support.

This cute image is one from Penny Black (No. 4137K), and old wood mounted stamp, unfortunately I cannot find a link to it anywhere at the moment - not even eBay. Just some simple pencil coloring done here using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.

The banner is from the Penny Black set Let's Go Wild stamped with one of the blue Distress inks (I didn't pay attention which one I had so I can't tell you for sure what color it was) and the sentiments are from the Penny Black set Snippets. I brushed some clear Wink of Stella glitter over the balloons, flowers and party hat to make them sparkle. The striped paper border came from and old Stampin Up stamp kit (Paper Pumpkin).

I can't believe the glitter is actually visible this time, not always easy to capture on camera.

Reminder Post for Penny Black and More - For Boys or Men

Good morning! It's time for the Penny Black and More midmonth reminder post where this month it's all about Men and Boys. We have some great prizes on offer from Penny Black and Blade Rubber Craft so hope you can find some time to join us if you haven't already and remember you may enter up to 3 creations for more chances to win. Traditional stamping is required as the focal point point but you can use any brand of stamps!

Please note, this post does include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, as always this is at no cost to you. Thanks so much for your support.

I used a mix of two stamps to create this card, both are by Penny Black - The driving dog is from the set Hello Friend and then the tree scene is called Snow Blanket. Oh, and the birds and grass behind the hill are also from Penny Black from the set Nature's Friends

I started out by stamping the background scene using the stamp Snow Blanket which I've inked up with Distress markers and I used my stamp platform (similar options) for easy stamping. Next I used a stamp from the clear set Nature's Friends with Mowed Lawn distress ink to stamp a border of grass before I adhered the die cut hill. My stitched hill die is old from Whimsy Stamps, this set includes similar dies and is also available on Amazon (linked below).

The dog from the set Hello Friend has been stamped and heat embossed on watercolor paper then distress markers were used for coloring.  It's been fussy cut with my Cutterbee scissors then added to the card with foam tape. Sentiment is a sticker from Tim Holtz' Quotations sticker set. To finish off this card I stamped the birds from the set Nature's Friends.

I will be adding this card to a card base, but when I made it I was running low on the heavy weight paper I use for card bases, so I decided to wait until I was able to purchase more. I did get a chance to drive to Iowa and shop at Hobby Lobby and found some heavyweight white cardstock there, but that was after my card had been photographed. Who knew I'd ever run out of cardmaking supplies!!!

Happy Birthday Allsorts Challenge!!

Good morning and thanks so much for visiting! As noted in the title, this week Allsorts challenge is turning 11 years old!! Originally we had a nice celebration with lots of prizes planned, but given the current global situation and how it affects us all differently, we decided it's best to cancel the celebration and  hope  to plan another event at a later time when things have improved. So no prizes this time, but I think Brenda will showcase a wonderful Top 10 as this was supposed to be a two week event, which we are keeping this way since it was already scheduled.

Our theme is simply "Anything Goes" and you have until May 22nd to join us.

This cute little bunny stamp set "Flying By" is from Penny Black's newest release Secret Garden. Unfortunately this set appears to be currently out of stock at Scrapbook.com where I got mine. I did find it on Amazon but at a higher price.

To make my card, I first inked the background (with a circle mask in place) using Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. The bunny was stamped on a separate piece of cardstock using Memento Tuxedo ink and he's been colored with Copic markers and some Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, then fussy cut. There is a matching die available (lower priced HERE but out of stock currently),  I used my Cutterbee scissors to cut him out. The die cut hill was made using a retired die set from Whimsy Stamps I've had for a long time, but this set by Lawn Fawn is similar. I used some old polka dotted paper from my stash. The sentiment is part of the set Flying By, stamped using  Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

The scallop border stamped at the is from a set picked as  prize, but unfortunately I received them unmounted with no packaging and don't remember where it came from....

I brushed some clear Wink of Stella over the flower to give it some sparkle.

Ellibelle's Crafty Wednesday - May Challenge

Hello and welcome to the the new Crafty Wednesday Challenge for May right here on my blog! I'm so glad you decided to stop by and hopefully you'll join in this month! Last month's theme seemed popular and I wanted to thank every one of you for sharing your creativity! Be sure to scroll down to the end of the post to see if you were the prize winner or one of my top picks.

Also, I wanted to apololize for being late at visiting your blogs but all caught up now, besides two entries linked to pinterest. Somehow those two links didn't lead to a specific creation and so I was not able to comment. If that was your card, I am sorry! I do try to comment on each entry following the guidelines.

This Month's Theme

For the  month of May I selected the theme of...........................................

"Make it Feminine".

Another fun and easy theme I think with so many choices and I can't wait to see what YOU will make and share this month!

I recently ordered some new stamps from Penny Black, this one is called Lovely Lilac and I paired it with a sentiment from the new stamp set Blooming Sentiments.

The flowers have been inked up using Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink with a little bit of Broken China Distress ink. It was a rainy day when the pictures were taken and the flowers are  more of a lilac color in real life.  After stamping I went over the blossoms with a slightly wet paintbrush.

Shop Penny Black's Secret Garden Release:

A music sheet stamp (mine is retired from Hero Arts - Alternative Option) has been used on the background and I thought this sentiment was perfect to pair it up with. It's been stamped using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. Edges were inked using the same distress inks again and I layered it with Stampin Up colored card stock, then a 110lb white card base. I'm starting to run low on this heavy weight paper and may have to order it online at Michaels. While I don't like using this cardstock for card fronts (mainly due to inking and coloring I do on cards), it's perfect for cardbases and with a coupon it's very affordable.

I finished off this card by adding a green button and green jute twine.

This Month's Prize

Something Masculine for Penny Black and More - May Challenge

It's the first Sunday of the month, meaning a new theme starts today at Penny Black and More challenge. This month it's all about Boys and/or Men. Hope to see you joining us! Our prizes this time come from Penny Black and Blade Rubber Craft.

*Please note, some affiliate links are used in this post, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, this is at no cost to you.

All silhoutte stamps are from Penny Black set Nature's Friends and the sentiment is from Penny Black set Heartfelt.

A quick and easy card to make ... With a "hill" mask in place (cut from printer paper) I inked up the background using Bundled Sage distress ink, then stamped the animals, branches and sentiment using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on  Bristol Vellum Paper. The edges were inked with Chipped Saphire Distress ink and mounted onto Stampin Up card stock. The metal hardware is many years old from Stampin Up as well and I tied some baker's twine around the card. Heavyweight white cardstock was used as my card base.

Butterflies for Allsorts Challenge

Hello and thanks so much for visiting! It's Saturday, that means it's time for a new theme at Allsorts challenge and this week it's all about Butterflies, chosen by Helene. Hope you'll join in for a chance to win this week's prize which is a  £15 voucher from WowVow.

*Please note, some affiliate links are used in this post, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links, this is at no extra cost to you.

I thought this cute image featuring Mimi and her box of butterflies from the Penny Black set Sweet Smiles was perfect for this theme ... it's been a while since I used it!

Distress inks Tumbled GlassBlueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet were used on bristol vellum paper to ink up the background with a circle mask in place. After removing the mask, I stamped the image directly onto the inked paper then stamped her again on a scrap piece of white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo ink. I colored her using a mix of Copic markers and Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. She and one of her butterflies have then been fussy cut using my Cutterbee scissors

Before adhering her to the card I used Penny Black's stamp Blossom Branch to create a border of flowers. Then I added the die cut "hill" - similar die set - and then Mimi was attached with foam tape.
The sentiment is from the Penny Black Set Happy Wishes stamped directly onto the card front. It's hard to see but I brushed some wink of stella glitter over the rose and butterflies.

A close up below ... I think I'll fussy cut the second butterfly as well because it's blending too much into the background.

I'm sharing my card here:
