Whimsy Stamps Cocoa

Hi Whimsy Fans,

today is the last day of the November Whimsy StampsLink Showcase. I hope you have enjoyed the daily mini hops and good luck to all of you hopping along! Remember these stamps and dies are all available for purchase at Whimsy Stamps right now along with all your other Whimsy favorites.

Don't forget today is also the last day to hop along, for a chance to win one of the newly released stamps. But like before you only have 24 hours to enter for a chance to win. All winners will be announced sometimes tomorrow at the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Blog.

For today I decided to make a little pocket card that holds a hot cocoa packet. The stamp I used is called Served with Love from the Crissy Armstrong collection.

To make this card I followed the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers by the super talented Beate.

For the image I did some paper piecing and coloring with derwent coloursoft pencils blended with baby oil. Glitter was added to the snow and snowflake centers.
The snowflakes were cut out using Whimsy's new Shapeology die "Layered Snowflakes" which is a set of 3 snowflakes dies, that can be used layered or by themselves as I did here. (I just used one of the dies.) To finish it off I added the sentiment from the new stamp set "winter notables, cut out using the new Notables 1 Shapeology die.

I am entering this card to these two challenges:

On Wednesday (16 November) Whimsy Stamps released this month's rubber designs and new shapeology dies. From then until 23 November the Whimsy Stamps DT and Special Guests are showcasing these fabulous new stamps and dies with a daily mini blog hop.

Each mini blog hop has a new release prize hidden somewhere along the way and you have 24hrs to enter each prize draw.

And here is what I created for today using the adorable Wee Stamp
"A letter for me" along with Raindrop Echo Design's "Everyday Mini Postage Stamps".

Photobucket

I went with a simple look for this, just used a few buttons and linen thread to embellish, and did some machine sewing.

The papers are from the linen pack by DCWV.
I colored with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil.

I have been getting a few emails asking how I do my coloring, I am not good at doing tutorials, but anyone interested in this technique, you can find lots of tutorials on You-tube, the technique is called gamsol magic, and I just use baby oil in place of mineral spirits and Derwent Coloursoft Pencils instead of Prismacolor Pencils, although I have many of those too. I do want to let you know, that it matters what kind of card stock you use, I find that Neenah solar crest works best for me (others that I have tried are GP 110lb, Stampin Up and Gina K. - the pencils don't blend as well on the other papers that I used.)

As I mentioned above the postage stamps are from the set "Everyday Mini Postage stamps" by Raindrop Echo Designs. I used the mini postage shapeology die to cut them out.

Not much more to tell about this card. I hope you like it!

I would like to enter it to the following challenges:

I colored the image with derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil. The papers are from last year's Basic Grey collection (I think).

I embellished with some snowflakes made with Whimsy Stamps new Layered Snowflakes dies set, added some seam binding and of course glitter. The sentiment is from a brand new Whimsy Stamp set by raindrop echo designs "Winter Notables" .

And she was so much fun to color! I used my derwent coloursoft pencils and blended with baby oil.

The papers are from a new to me pack by prima. I embellished with some ribbon, prima fowers and brads, buttons, glitter, punched borders, the new shapeoplogy elegant notables die 1 (that's peeking out from behind the sentiment on the top and also to the left) from whimsy stamps.
