Fashion Over Forty: Red Floral Top For Summer

When I placed my last LOFT order a few weeks ago I came cross this pretty floral top for less than $12 and I thought it would be a perfect color and print for the summer months. It was one of the items marked as "final sale" meaning it cannot be returned or exchanged. But since I was pretty sure what size I needed I decided to add it to my order. I got it in my usual size Small Petite and it fits perfect.

We had a hard time with pictures on this day...it was so sunny all day and then the tree in my backyard just made some strange shadows, but it was the only day we had time for photography.

I've already worn this top with blue jeans/ shorts twice (which is my prefered choice) for a casual sunny day look, but for today I've styled it with my new Riviera crop pants also from LOFT. This top is perfect for summer, aside from the colors, I love the "flowy" style which makes it perfect for a hot day.

The top is very limited in the regular sizes but fully stocked in Petite. If you are 5'3" or shorter, petite is the best option for you. Be sure to check the sizing chart on the right side of the product page and measure your bust (something I forgot to do in the past and ended up with the wrong size.) Traditionally, with petite sizing you should go up one size compared to misses  (or regular as they are called at LOFT) sizes. This means if you get XS in regular or misses sizing, then you would need to get Small in Petite sizing. As mentioned, this top runs true to size - I have the Petite Small.

The blue flowers on this top perfectly match my chambray  Riviera Crop Pants, also from LOFT. If you've been following along then you might remember that I had these pants exchanged for a smaller size. I definitely recommend sizing down in these.  I have the Petite 00. 

These  Riviera Crop Pants pants would be perfect for those of you working in an office setting, but even though I don't work outside the home I wanted to add a pair of dressier pants to my closet because I only had dress pants in darker colors but wanted some for spring and summer for those times when I need something other than blue jeans.

I still haven't figured out the perfect footwear to go with these pants, I am actually looking for  sandals with thin straps similar to these but with a heel (that's not too high and preferably chunky) but haven't found the perfect pair yet. And since I wouldn't be wearing them much, I don't want to pay a lot for them either.

For today I'm wearing them with my strappy sandals I purchased last year in Myrtle Beach from The Walking Company. I love these sandals because they have great arch support and I can walk in these all day without any issues. Plus with the thinner straps they look more delicate than most other comfort sandals. I usually wear 7.5 in sandals but these do not come in half sizes. I tried on both - size 8 and 7, and the 7 fits perfect. I would say they are true to size and if in between then size down.
