Fashion Over Forty: Fall Neutrals with a New Cardigan from Target

I really hadn't planned on buying a new cardigan this year but somehow I ended up on the Target website and came across this colorblock cardigan in the neutral colors and it made its way into the shopping cart. (I needed to order some cat food at that time.) I figured it would be too long and I may end up returning it (I'm about 5'2 and many cardigans seem too long on my frame) but this one actually fits perfectly and it's definitely a keeper!

I apologize for the photos, we were supposed to have an overcast day on this day (which I learned it the best type of weather for outdoor photography), but it ended up being so sunny all day long with not another free day to take pictures. I also played with the settings on my DSLR camera to make it more "sunset" friendly but honestly neither I nor my husband (who is usually my photographer) have any photography skills....maybe I should read the manual!!!!! I have no idea if the settings changes on my camera helped or made it worse.

If you love the neutrals that are trending this fall, then you will love this cardigan! It's by Target's Knox Rose brand. It's soft to the touch and against the skin. There are a couple of reviews stating it's itchy but I don't feel like it is, maybe the other color is??

Exact cardigan

While I have a problem with many cardigans being too long, this one hits at mid thigh and I find that to be perfect.

I'm wearing a simple gray scoop neck tshirt. This one is a few years old old but also purchased at Target and it was very inexpensive. These are Target's current scoop neck tees. Mine is by A New Day. The t-shirt is on the thinner side, but so soft and I love that it's a slightly relaxed fit.

My jeans are once again the AG skinny jeans I purchased from eBay. I do seem to reach for these all the time because they are so comfortable and I love the fit! If buying clothes from ebay isn't your thing, this brand can also be found at Zappos, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and a few styles at Nordstrom Rack.

My ankle boots are a sort of taupe gray color, by Earth Origins. While this exact pair is no longer available, some styles are available at DSWsome are at QVC and some are on Amazon (I was actually able to find the exact pair on Amazon).   I find them to be very comfortable and they fit true to size.

Thanks Mica. I was surprised it wasn't longer on me because so many cardis are! Clothes shopping isn't easy when you're short!!

I love the pictures! I do need to read the manual for my camera: we haven't taken pictures with it in quite a while. This is a nice cozy fall outfit!

Love that cardigan. I don't get a chance to wear mine much. It's so long, I can't wear it with a coat. Hopefully I can wear it at least once before the really cold weather hits.

Beauitful cardigan, I love all of the colors! Colorblocking has grown on me, and it looks great here with the booties. My mom bought a sim one from Loft that is so pretty too.

I think your photography skills are pretty darn good! I love the ombre effect of the cornfield and the grass as well as that of your sweater! Did you plan that? If not, never tell anyone differently!

I think that is the very same cardigan in a different color scheme from the one I featured recently. I love the soft colors of yours. Had never worn gray much until Alison Lumbatis had a gray tee shirt on a capsule wardrobe. Now I am a huge fan. Gray is now one of my favorite colors to wear. And gosh you wear it so well!! Very pretty photos, too. Thanks for linking up for #AgelessStyle.
