Clean and Simple Card with PB Snowy Perch and Some Stenciling

Hello and welcome!

It's time for some midmonth inspiration at Stamping Sensations, still plenty of time to join us if you haven't already or maybe you'd like to enter a second or third creation for more chances to win our wonderful prize. Our theme is simply "Christmas" and the lucky winner will receive a gift certificate to be Creative.

This post may include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links. As always, this is at no cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting this blog!

I wanted to use a bird themed image for my card today and decided on "Snowy Perch" by Penny Black.

On the stamp this bird is surrounded by lots of greenery which is nice, but I wanted the bird to be more of a focal point. Tried several ways of stamping it but in the end I decided to simply fussy cut the bird sitting on the log and not use the rest of the image. I can tell you I am still not really happy with this card, but got to a point where I had to be done. Please tell me I am not the only one who has these issues!!!

So after many attempts to make this card work, I finally used a simple stenciled background (using Penny Black's Hypnotic stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress ink), blue inked "snow" using the same ink on the bottom portion and then I used the Penny Black background stamp Christmas Story

The sentiment is from the PB set Season's Gifts, stamped in Walnut Stain Distress ink. And I added a few die cut snowflakes to finish off the card.

Another unplanned optical illusion on the photo above with the two snowflakes by the sentiment to appear inside the card and not on top. LOL.

PS: Many thanks to those of you who signed up to join in the Year in Review hop where we will share our favorites of 2021. Any papercrafter is welcome to join in as long as you have a blog. The hop will be from December 29th for a week and participants will schedule and link up their own posts at any time during this week then visit the other participant's year in review posts. It's for fun only with no prizes, just sharing our favorites with other paper crafters and something fun to look at at the end of the year when many papercraft challenges are taking breaks over the holidays and all Christmas festivities are behind us. I always find this a great time to look back at what I've created over the year and pick some favorites.

I think your birdie stands out perfectly Ellie, I'm calling it a Great Tit as it's just like the ones in our garden.

I'm not familiar with this stamp. It looks wonderful against your stencilling and the other little details you added.

Hmm, it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer, but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers? I’d appreciate it.

Thank you

Anthony

I don't think any of us is every entirely happy with our own work! I think your card is lovely with the gentle stencil work behind a superb fussy cut bird on a log. That little perched bird on it's snow capped log is just right for your challenge at Inspiration Station, thank you for sharing it with us. xx

A lovely card Ellie, I love how your little bird takes 'centre stage' on his snowy log and the stencilled background looks just right to me.

I think your card is wonderful. And you are not the only one who second guesses their talent. We are our own worse critic. I love all the subtle details that showcase your pretty bird on a log. So happy you played along with the Krafty Chicks Challenge.

As a reader and fellow blogger, I am always excited to read blogs that offer interesting and informative content. Your blog is no exception! I recently read your post and I found it to be incredibly insightful and thought-provoking.

Your article provided a comprehensive overview of the topic, covering all the major points and providing a variety of perspectives. I especially appreciated the way you used examples to illustrate your points and the fact that you provided links to additional resources.

I was particularly impressed with your discussions. Your analysis was spot-on and I found your conclusions to be both logical and well-supported. Your article also made me think about the topic in a new way, which I found to be quite refreshing.

Overall, I think your blog is an excellent source of information and I will definitely be returning to read more of your articles primarily in the evening after I finish work at my wholesale sunglasses business. I look forward to seeing what other topics you cover and I'm sure I will learn a lot from your future posts.
