White Jeans with a High Neck Sleeveless Blouse and a Denim Jacket

Hello and welcome!

For this week's "Fashion Over Forty" post I decided to share a recent  outfit I wore on a warm and sunny day - white jeans and a sleeveless top that I actually meant to return to the store last year but missed my return window so I decided to "make it work", topped with a blue denim jacket.

I really loved the way this sleeveless high- neck blouse looked on the hanger at Marshall's, but due to the virus all dressing rooms were closed and in fact it was purchased on one of our visits to Iowa while our local store was still closed so I couldn't quickly return it.

I really should have known better and not purchase without trying it on .... but at least it was only $10 so not a huge waste of money.

This post may include some affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through the links. As always, this is at no cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting this blog!

I don't have great photos today, the lighting wasn't the best and we were in a bit of a hurry, but glad I found a few to share anyway, as I do enjoy writing these posts!

It doesn't really look as bad in the pictures but the tie feature on the left side is really annoying me, it's just too long and hangs there. (I may trim it!!) It also blouses out around the waist just a little bit too much, which is another thing not so visible in these pictures.

LOFT

But I do love the pretty floral print!

These jeans are the AG Prima in white. You may remember I had found a pair of blue AG Prima jeans at Nordstrom Rack and I really loved the style and the way they fit me so I went looking for a white pair on Poshmark to replace my lower rise white jeans. My first Poshmark purchase, and I have to say I'm pretty  happy about it, although I wish the seller had included more sizing info, however they ended up being a perfect fit at size 26 (which is the same size my blue AG Prima jeans are).

These are the "crop" style which fits me more like an ankle lengths and that was exactly what I wanted. Nordstrom Rack does have a few white AG Prima jeans in stock, but in the full lengths which would have really been too long on my petite frame.

Below are a few more options to consider from Nordstrom Rack if you're shopping for white jeans.

As a side note, (this may be TMI, but) it's always recommended to wear nude colored underwear when wearing white jeans, and I highly recommend the "Vanishing Edge" design from Soma. I discovered these a couple of years ago through another blogger and thought I might as well pass on the recommendation :-)

I so rarely wear my blue jean jacket but many consider it a "closet staple". Since I wear blue jeans so often, I don't reach for this jacket often as I'm not a fan of the denim on denim look, but I love it paired with white jeans.

My particular denim jacket is old (by Gap), but there are several current styles currently in stock, in fact this jacket looks very much like mine, just a little trendier :-)

As with most jackets, I have a size small, but the sleeves are a little too long on my petite frame, so I decided to simply fold them up twice.

My sandals/slides are by Munro. I love this nude color with white jeans. Wish I could link to these exact sandals as they are so very comfortable, but they were a Goodwill find. While I had never heard of this brand before, they appeared to be made of a really high quality leather and looked like new so they came home with me.

Some styles of Munro sandals can be found in limited sizes at Nordstrom Rack and Zappos but I warn you - this brand is quite expensive. Of course there is always an option to look at Poshmark or eBay too.

Target also has a nice variety of nude colored sandals this year if you're looking for a pair.

Above you can take a better look at the blouse. Besides the tie feature on the left, I'm also not sure I like the way it's designed at the shoulders...it definitely needed a racerback bra and the only racerback style I have has lace going up to the top on the back, so it wasn't very practical as there is a small keyhole closer on the back of the shirt.

My light brown tote bag I found a few years ago at Target. You might like this reversible bag as an alterative - also from Target.

By the way, Target does ship most orders for free (2-Day shipping) when you use a Red card. If you don't have one, I highly recommend the Target Debit Red Card, the payment will come right out of your checking account and you don't have to pay another bill, but you will still get their 5% discount on everything.
While I have a local store here, I've definitely taken advantage of their free shipping service several times over this past year.

I didn't add a necklace to this outfit, because I thought the small floral print was enough and no necklace was needed. But I would have definitely added a longer necklace had this been a plain colored top.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to stop by! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

I think it looks fabulous with and without the jacket on. But I too am really wanting dressing rooms to open back up... I have been buying and returning SO many things this past year.

That blouse is really cute, but I can see how the shoulder cut is potentially limiting bra-wise and that the side tie could seem fiddly. In the context of the entire outfit, though, it looks terrific!

I really like this blouse on you: I love the halter type tops now that I have a good strapless bra. I could see how the tie would be annoying so snip snip! The whole look came out really cute!

Ellie, this is such a cute spring outfit. I love the tiny floral print. And it looks so good with white jeans and a dark denim jacket. I really like those sandals, too. Don't you hate when a great top just won't do exactly what you want it to? And nude panties are absolutely a must-have! Thanks for linking with me.
