Fashion Over Forty: My 5 Most Viewed Blog Posts of 2019 & My Personal Favorite

Happy Friday! If you've been following along for a little while, then you might know that on Fridays I usually share a post of my take on "Fashion Over Forty".  I have no new look to share today as taking outfit photos during the holidays was the last thing on my mind. Especially since my daughter got sick with influenza the day after her Nutcracker performance (which was beautiful to watch) and she had a fever for 6 days. Not the best way to spend Christmas but we can't choose when to get sick and luckily she didn't get sick the day before which was the day of the Nutcracker. So far no one else here got sick other than a few body aches but no fever.

So today I am sharing the 5 Fashion Over Forty posts that received the most views from my blog visitors. The snippet above includes six looks, one of these is my personal favorite, but you'll have to scroll down to see which one it is.

I'm listing them starting with no. 5 and ending with no. 1.
If you'd like to read more about each one you can simply click the link above the photo.
I'll note below each photo what was new to me that year.

No. 5 Green Relaxed Fit Sweater Outfit

This sweater was purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last Summer. I have to say I realized this specific sweater is not really practical for our weather. In fall it's usually too warm still and I reach more for cardigans, and when it does get cold it's almost too thin. But I do so much love this boatneck design! This sweater is no longer available, but do check out these wonderful boatneck sweaters if you like this style.

No. 4  Turquoise for Fall and AG Jeans from Ebay

The tshirt, cardigan and necklace were new items. The jeans were new to me but I bought them from ebay in gently used condition. All these purchases were great buys, especially the cardigan has been one of my most worn pieces. It's still available at LOFT and an extra 50% off the sales price but very limited in sizes. More options available HERE.

No. 3 -  Casual Look with Straight Leg Jeans and T-Shirt

The only thing new here is the very inexpensive T-shirt I picked up at Kohl's when I went back to school shopping with my daughter. Just a simple, lose fitting top, perfect for late summer or early fall.

No. 2 - Fall Sweater Finds from Target

This was one of the sweaters I purchased when I went into a little bit of a "sweater shopping frenzy" in October. I didn't think I'd like them all, but I kept 4 of the 5 sweaters I ordered and have no regrets. Unfortunately one of them ended up in my washing machine (instead of hand wash) and it doesn't look so nice anymore....that's the burgundy tunic sweater.

No. 1 - Orange Cardigan Outfit

I'm actually surprised because this one was one of my least favorite looks. But this is a great color for fall, or maybe it was on someone's "what not to wear" pinterest board 😁Joking, I don't think it's that bad!
This cardigan was another new purchase this year. I found it at TJMaxx. I did wear this cardigan on a few occasions and the quality is great so I have no regrets buying it.

So... while those above are the most viewed fashion over 40 posts, I thought it would be fun to share my personal favorite look.

More Jeans from Ebay and a Puffer Vest

It's funny that I picked this one as my personal most favorite because I rarely wear sneakers. But I love how they matched the rest of the outfit. This is another sweater I purchased from TJMaxx last fall and it was my favorite sweater purchase of the year.

Why I picked this as my favorite look:
I feel like the color of the blue jeans and the color of the sweater, although not the same color, belong to the same color family. Then I love the contrast of the eggplant colored puffer vest. And every single item I am wearing is soooo comfortable! The sweater is so soft! The only thing I would change about this look would be the bag, but honestly I have no idea what kind/color of a bag I'd pick - maybe just a simple black. Here I tried to match the color of the sneakers, and the funny thing is, shorty after I posted this look, I watched a rerun of Project Runway where Nina Garcia mentioned to one of the designers that matching shoes and bag was a no-no. Althought that episode was a few years old it's apparently still the case. While I don't really care too much about  fashion trends, that information would have been nice to know :-)

Anyway, if you're looking to add a new sweater to your wardrobe I do recommend checking out your local TJMaxx, or visit their online store, as they update their inventory often and they carry some great quality clothes at affordable prices.

Looking back at these last few months, I definitely purchased more than what I truly needed and I don't want to make that a habit. Not to mention my husbands side of the closet is getting smaller and smaller....I need to put myself on a clothes spending freeze, besides a black puffer coat I've been wanting to get at the end of season clearance.....

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my blog!

You had a stylish year, although what a shame your daughter got sick! I'm glad no-one else got it. It's so hard being sick at Christmas!

I like all the outfits and it's interesting to see your favourite one! Sometimes I do match my shoes to my bag, even if it's an old fashion rule I like a bit of matchy matchy and I'll wear what I like no matter what the "rules" say!

Hope that you have a lovely weekend ahead of you! :) We will be having a quiet one.

Thanks Mica. I too match my shoes to the bag, especially when they are both black, it was so funny in this case as I tried hard to find a matching bag while I could have just grabbed the one I was already using :-)
It would be too hard, stressful and not to mention expensive to follow all fashion rules.

Isn't it always so fun to see what others loved compared to what you felt was your best look? I love that orange cardigan outfit too...I think the color just really looks great on you and it is always such a fun one for fall.
