Good morning and happy Friday!
On the 15th of every month Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy of Nancy's Fashion Style co-host a feature on their blogs called "The Good Buy/Goodbye Book" and other bloggers are invited to share some of their outfits following the month's theme. I decided to join in this month with two outfits that haven't made it to the blog until today. I just didn't like how they turned out so I skipped them, but the challenge gave me the opportunity to not completely waste the photos.

This month their theme is...............
Monochromatic Looks.
When I styled this outfit I really wanted to love it! But when I looked at the pictures, they were just a big NO! I'm sure it has something to do with these burgundy/wine colored jeans and maybe I'm just not meant to wear monochromatic looks.
You're probably wondering about the "good buy/good bye item here. Both of these pieces came from
Kohl's but both are old and now longer available.
These burgundy pants/ jeans I found on the clearance rack and I'm sure I paid less than $10 for them. As you may know, blue jeans are my "go to" pants and therefore I have never actually worn these burgundy pants besides for these pictures. Not only are they a little long on me, they also seem to be a little bit of a lint magnet, and with two cats in the household that's not an easy thing do deal with! I will be looking for another pair of burgundy pants and will say "goodbye" to this pair. No need to keep them in my closet if I don't love them!
Below is look no. 2 (photos are from 2019). This outfit actually features both, a "Good Buy" and a "Goodbye"!
Let's talk abut the Good Buy first.
These gray skinny jeans by AG were definitely a good buy and I've shared outfits with them before a few times already.
They were a good buy not only because I found them at a really great price on the clearance rack, but mostly because they are so very comfortable! Most of the jeans I own I wear all day long because they are so comfortable, but these actually feel like a comfy pair of leggings. I did have to cut off an inch or so because they were too long.
Speaking of AG jeans, I noticed Nordstrom has
several of their popular styles marked down to up to 50% off and as always they ship for free with free return shipping - no minimum order requirement. But since this premium brand is so pricey to begin with, I want to warn you that they are still mostly over $100.
This silver gray jacket I will be saying "goodbye" to. While it doesn't look that bad in the photo, it really doesn't do anything for me and is just wide, boxy and not flattering at all. It's by Land's End and was a clearance find so I didn't pay a lot for it, and it's a lesson learned: Don't buy something just because it's on sale! A lesson I evidently need to repeat many times :-)
I'm also not really loving this striped sweater or the loafers. And you guessed it, both were purchased because they were on sale some years ago. They're ok, but there are other items in my closet I like more so I don't reach for these particular pieces often...
Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to stop by today!

Great looks, I love the story of your jeans! I've been sorting my wardrobe and found a black pair of jeans that I now fit into - yay! Thanks for sharing. Jacqui x
Thanks Jennifer! I definitely will be looking for another pair of burgundy jeans!
Thanks Jacqui! It's always so fun when we discover things in our closets that didn't fit before!
It's always interesting to me how we ourselves don't like something but everyone else is oh wow that is so pretty! I actually really like the burgundy outfit on you. I love the blouse and pants. But it does boil down to what we are comfortable in and what we enjoy wearing.

I really love the burgundy outfit on you! You need to wear what you feel comfortable with though and I totally understand about not wanting pants that are lint magnets (I hate that myself and I don't have cats).
These are both great outfits, but I especially love the burgundy one!
Life is a Shoe
Both outfits look great and stylish. :)

Thanks Mireille! Sometimes an outfit just needs a little bit of tweaking to make it more "me". I definitely love the burgundy color so will be looking for a replacement for these pants!
Thanks Joanne! Lint magnets are so annoying!!
Thanks so much!
Thank you!!
Loving the burgundy, it's perfect for winter, but I hate pants that grab onto lint as well.

Maybe if you wore a solid gray top that was just an inch or two under the jacket it might work.
I really like your monochromatic looks, Ellie! And I am so glad that you joined us this month! I have been trying to learn this same lesson as you...not to buy something just because it is on clearance! I also have a tendency to buy things that "almost" fit. I need to stop that, too! Thanks for linking with me!

Both looks are super. I love the grey one as it's so easy to wear. Thank you for adding to my #LINKUP Jacqui x
I really like both those outfits and I hope you find a replacement for those burgundy jeans! I think that is my favourite outfit on you, it's such a nice colour comb with the top and stands out so much, so hopefully you can find another pair of burgundy jeans you love and wear more :)
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you had a great weekend :) We managed to spend a lot of time outdoors which was fun :)
